This.

Sorry, getting mad at Rogan over his comment just smacks too much like an annoying Star Wars fan who gets all snooty cause some director didn't know what the TIE in TIE Fighter stands for.

I mean, it's sorta like "Oh, that actor made a misinformed and slightly insensitive comment. Why it's almost like he's a *GASP* realistic person!!!"

Well, Seth Rogan being a total nincompoophead has killed any chance that I am going to watch him in what promises to be an angonizingly tripe-filled movie.

I boycotted 'Catwoman' with Halle Berry. If I can do *that*, I can certainly boycott the 'Green Vomit'.

This movie looks like it's going to make 'Howard The Duck' look Shakespearean by comparison!

Why did they have to mess up a perfectly good concept!

Van Williams and Jackie Chan would make a better Hornet and Kato! C'mon!
It must be the fact I've NEVER seen the orginal green hornet... which is... ODD for someone of my comicbook history. But it didn't look that bad to me. I'm not a Seth Rogen fan, but i don't hate him either. Will i see it in the thearter? Prolly not. It's not THAT impressive. Will I rent it? Prolly.

I think Jackie Chan's a little old for the Kato role.

And hey, you wanna "boycott" the movie that's fine. I didn't see either of the Transformer movies (though I just called it "not seeing the movie"; "boycotting" seemed a little much). I've just never been able to get that worked up about a movie.

Heck, speaking of Howard the Duck, that movie butchered one of my favorite characters ever, and I've still seen it more than once, just for the amusement of it.

When it was decided the script was going to have Britt Reid to be a hedonistic playboy who's changed his ways when his father is killed, the role was written for Seth Rogen. That's his character's MO in his more successful movies. Irresponsible at the beginning, reforming himself by the end.

The thing is if you want to attract Seth Rogen fans, you have to portray him in the trailer as a Seth Rogen classic lead character. IIRC the trailers for Spanglish still had the parts showing Adam Sandler as his classic good nature goof ball to pull a bait and switch so his fans would show up opening night of what wasn't a distinctly classic Adam Sandler movie.

It may be the same here. It's crazy production history and studio demand to "3D" it doesn't bode well but who knows.

Personally I have seen far worse....this looks like an interesting take on the Green Lantern mythos....For the life of me I do not understand why people think that Green Hornet needs to be set in the WWII era....this is a modern telling of Green Hornet....

A modern retelling is fine. Just make it serious. Kick Seth Rogaine to the curb and get someone who will respect the intellectual property!

I do *not* want a Green Hornet movie filled with bathroom 'humor'.

Seth Rogaine is full of fail. That's why I suggested Van Williams and Jackie Chan, even though they are rather old now.

In all fairness... the trailer seemed more serious than I thought it would be. Sure it should have some funny moments.... but I'm willing to bet it won't be to this extreme.

IE: The smoke-gun scene from the trailer... is certainly not like the ex-lax bathroom scene from Dumb and Dumber.

I am lazy, but there is another trailer out there that is supposed to focus more on the action and definitely gives off less of a "humorous" take on things.

When was the original Green Hornet series ever serious? It was Batman with different characters. Bruce Lee made it slightly less slapstick than it could have been, only because of how good he was. I think your rose-colored glasses need an adjustment.

The trailer didn't look bad at all. Definitely not Catwoman level.

Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.

The 'Green Hornet' radio program actually predates the first appearance of 'Batman' in Detective Comics #27 by a few years. More properly, he belongs to the pulp-era masked vigilante set, like 'The Shadow'.

He was also depicted in an early 1940's movie serial, where Kato was portrayed by Keye Luke, who would later portray Master Po on the TV series 'Kung Fu' some three decades later.

For the last seven decades, he has been featured in several comic book series.

While I can accept a certain level of levity between Britt Reid/The Green Hornet and Kato, I cannot help but fear that Seth Rogaine simply will not 'get' the character and this movie will make 'Dumb and Dumber' look like a production by the Royal Shakespeare Company.

I've seen both of the trailers. The action stuff looked pretty cool. It seemed like Kato kicked butt, but Seth looked out of place during the action stuff.

I end up watching most of Seth's movies, so if it's a comedy I'll watch it. If it's a superhero-action movie, I'll watch it since I end up watching most of those. Either way, I'll get this as a rental at some point.

Havign watched the trailer for GH, and having *shudder* seen Dumb and Dumber, I have no idea why you get that feeling at all.

Obviously, they're not planning to make GH as serious as Batman, which from this thread, perhaps that's what the sudio wanted.

But then if they went that route, it may have flopped for being considered a "Batman Knockoff" :/

Have to agree though. Boycotting sounds to out there And who knows, you say it now, but when it comes out, people could be OMG this was great!

The trailer before the Deathly Hallows seriously upped my opinion of the movie. Doesn't look too bad.

Yogi Bear, on the other hand, looks ******* terrible in every way possible.

Pablum for the mind is still pablum.

Perhaps you are right that the average moviegoer of a certain age range will simply associate 'The Green Hornet' with the 1960's 'Batman' series.

However, anyone in the know (and with even a modicum of sense) cannot help but be disappointed in this smouldering tripe and its disrespect for the intellectual property upon which it is supposedly based (or debased in this case).

Michele Gondry is an interesting director, which increases the chances I see this one at some point from negative eleventy-billion to, like, 8 2/3rds %.

If your chance to see something is negative, does that mean you have a chance to unsee it?

To do that, must you watch it and then have your brain erased in some way?

Incredible. I've seen plenty of people play the 'The book was better than the movie' card. But a 'The radio show was better than the movie' card? This is a rare site, indeed. And before the movie is even released! I need to take a picture of this moment and sell it on eBay. It'll net me millions!

Snobbery, thy name is Amerikatt. How about seeing the movie trailer for it's face value rather than watching it through those judgmental glasses of nostalgia? I hear they can make things from the past seem significantly better and keep anything from living up to their 'standards'.

The trailer didn't look anywhere near as bad as I was expecting from the first few comments in this thread.

Saw one of the previews before Harry Potter last night. I'm beginning to long for action and trailers that do not cut every half second and look disjointed. Sheesh. Looked moderately fun, but the preview does leave me wondering why the Green Hornet is the hero and not Kato.

The 60's TV show made me wonder that also.

That's sorta a theme with Green Hornet. Even the old movie serials had those moments; with Kato inventing most of the gadgets.

It's something I kinda hoped they'd touch on in the new movie, but not just as a joke.
