South Park "Super" heroes?!?
I actually loved last week's episode where they recreated that classic slow-motion scene from A Clockwork Orange where Cartman has to re-establish his "top dog" status amongst the group. I could totally see Cartman running his supergroup like Alex runs his Droogs right-right.

Or the commercial he (Cartman) spoofs (don't want to spoil it). I think these 3 eps are in my top 5 of all of them, esp. because of the superhero element.

I enjoyed the unmasking of Mysterion and his psychological trauma at finally having to come to terms with his super power.
Be well, people of CoH.
I agree that these have been some of the best episodes, and South Park has been consistently great lately. Mysterion and his power being explained in an in-canon way was very well-handled, and all the references and spoofs that the Coon Saga is laden with have been impressive. Also, Cthulhu! Anyoen else notice the Arkham Horror games in the backround of the cultist lair? Nice nod to a great game.

Captain Hindsight has to have the most ineffectual power. What is the point of knowing that this should have been done, but not being able to do anything about it?
The first step in being sane is to admit that you are insane.
It's a spoof of all the people that come out of the woodwork to proclaim that they know perfectly how something could've been avoided whenever something happens.

It reminded me of those scenes in Idiocracy when Not Sure used the phrase "lead, follow or get out of the way" and all the future idiot people were blown away by that like it was the most intelligent thing anyone's ever said.

Yes the Coon/Cthulu team up was not unexpected but was brilliant. I loved how they explained how Kenny never really dies. Though my fav part was the goth kids and when the little one became super hardcore goth.

Great stuff. Pending the ending (heh) this is proving to be an even better multi-parter than Imagination Land.
I have to wonder though just how many people think South Park came up with the whole Cthulhu thing themselves. And I still think it sounds better if you pronounce the "th" like "the" and not a hard t, but I digress.

good luck D.B.B.

Still, I consider it "Kah-thu-lu".
It should be noted that, unless I am mistaken, Lovecraft intended it to be unpronounceable, further underlining how "Beyond Humanity" the Mythos was.
My partner is so convinced that it's pronounced "Thu-lu" that she corrects me every time I intimate the existence of a C.

Never heard it with a silent C though, that's a new one to me.

Loved the LBJ spoof.

Am I the only person who saw the LBJ abbreviation and first thought of the late President Lyndon Baines Johnson and not LeBron James. I haven't watched South Park in years.

He recently did a commercial that pokes fun at his new hated status. That's what the Hayward/Hindsight/Coon montage in the middle of the episode was spoofing.

LBJ = LeBron James. Y'know, the basketball player who basically said "Cavalier No More" and abandoned his home team and took his talents to South Beach to play with superstar Dwayne Wade and maybe superstar Chris Bosh on the Miami Heat.

As soon as Hayward turned to the camera and said "What should I do?" I started cracking up.
I especially love the friends/technicians bit.

Who knows if that is accurate though. For all we know, Lovecraft may have used variations of exotic pronounciations to throw people off. (Which would be kinda like a more intellectual version of how Meatloaf kept giving a different story of how he got his name with different interviews)

I remember reading somewhere that at least one friend of Lovecraft's recalled him pronouncing the "Ct" as a tongue-click in the style of a Kalahari Bushman.

I'm amazed no one has posted about this, if they have, sry...
Last episode of South Park was about Cartman's ostensible heroic "supergroup" called "Coon and Friends", where they're trying to do 'good' and such... (with Cartman, a loaded phrase...), and it ended on a cliffhanger, sorta...
(Spoiler alert!!!)
and then in the next episode, he TOTALLY GOES ROGUE and teams up with Cthulhu!!
Hilarious! How did no one comment on this yet?
