or maybe it was a euro to us server transfer.

Just occurred to me, RMT people supposedly do stuff like that. I seem to recall finding occasional worthless low-level stuff selling for insane amounts of money in another game.

someone could have always typed in a few extra 0's by accident, as that tends to happen every now and then as well

Probably someone moving inf that doesn't know the new way through mail. You should have seen the history on level 49 intangiable TOs back before email........last 5 was usually 50, 100000000, 50, 100000000, and so on.....as I used it to move inf to odd servers for storage as I filled my toons.

That's a bit hard to believe in this case. One extra zero is pretty common. Two would be difficult, but you'd have to hit 4 extra zeroes to make that mistake. I would think that would be hard to do by accident.

Another option is that some random soul just decided to donate some money to charity.

Someone bought one of my generic IO's for 222 million last week ("Did you mean 222 thousand? Are you sure? Sure sure?") In a sane world, that couldn't be an inf transfer gone wrong... but people made mistakes on inf transfers ALL the time back in the day. Was it Gnomercy who made like 2 billion inf just buying low level junk and listing it for 1?

Mini-guides: Force Field Defenders, Blasters, Market Self-Defense, Frankenslotting.

So you think you're a hero, huh.
@Boltcutter in game.

I believe that the fashionable answer to this is to blame it all on Flippers and complain that the Casual User is totally priced out of the market because of them and can't even afford the lowliest of Knockback IOs for his Warshade.

I do believe Gnome was explicitly searching for and sniping found transfers, but yes, I do believe his bullets were very cheap.

There are some USB number pads that have a 000 key. I have one. I sometimes hit that key by mistake and laugh at how much I almost offered for something.

Other times, I hit it on purpose. Because I can. It's my 000ber-key.

Anyway, those mistakes actually are possible in the same fashion as the classic "extra zero" error. They're just 100 times more costly.

Buddy of mine accidentily bid 200 million for a common salvage item months ago. No idea how he goofed it.

My speculation in order of liklihood (in my mind, at least)

1> MarketUI bug: meant to bid on a shiny, and our "helpful" UI switched it
on him.

2> Server/Inf transfer: Gleemail is the proper answer for that these days,
but some folks are still Old School (or across the NA/EU boundary)

3> Fat Fingered Typo: 4 zeros stretches credibility on this one though
unless the player had a few too many brews during his play session...

Of course, those were just the symptoms - the REAL answer is Ebil Marketeering
Mind Control which forced the player to lose control of the "0" key...

Cheers,

What's the difference between 1,111,000 and 111,111,000? 110 mill! lol. That's how much I accidentally overbid on a Pangean Soil a few months ago! lol
