The letter writer says the only differnce between Silos and the Coming Storm is that one of them is at least open about wanting to destroy the universe - but then the letter writer has teamed up with Protean, who's one of the nastiest villains around - plus, the tone he writes in is rather creepy - so right now, it's hard to know who to trust

The new Mender Ramiel arc might give us a few more clues

Unless otherwise posted, I imagine he is Primal Earth Nemesis from the future.

And still evil. I really wanna stress that part!

i suppose that could lead to a whole separate thread as to what really makes a superhero, themselves or the people they protect. tyrant was called into absolute power by a fearful people who willingly abdicated responsibility. states has thus far been restrained, but that could be because the people havent tried to make him a tyrant. (reichs i dont know the story of well) but perhaps the hero is only as great as the of the choices of his people.

eh, good and evil are lables applied after the fact, people are what their actions are. if silos's actions are different than nemesis' actions, then i dont see the label still sticking.

One thing that might show Silos isn't evil is the fact that the Menders are the ones we get access to the alpha slot from - it'd be kinda weird if every hero had to unlock this new level of power via an evil organization.

Don't assume the Coming Storm is some end-all apocalypse just becuase Mender Silos says so. Pillar Man suggests it's actually a good thing and that the only reason Silos is trying to prevent it is because he's trying to cover his hiney and doesn't want his secret to get out.

Pillar Man is recruiting a team of both good and evil supers to counter the antics of Silos and his Ouroboros Menders. His approach may raise ethical concerns, but put them side by side and Pillar Man is the good guy, not Silos.

Pillar Man brings THAT up too, interestingly enough. He points out the discrepancy of how Mender Silos says "the end is near, do what I say or die," whereas Pillar Man says "the choice is yours: I won't force you to do anything, but I suggest that you ask yourself what's going on."

Some things Pillar Man has mentioned:

  • What is the Coming Storm and why hasn't Ouroboros told us what it is?
  • Why doesn't Ouroboros send us into the future more than a couple times?
  • If Ouroboros is so blatantly violating the laws of time and space, why are they so concerned about fixing the past?
  • Silos wants us to follow him blindly, but Pillar Man is the only one who gives us choice.
As far as being respectful and informative, Pillar Man's argument holds a lot more water than Silos's. Maybe Pillar Man is a creep with a clever lure, but if he's so fixated on breaking down Ouroboros, why risk losing you from his team?

Either that, or Silos's karma finally caught up with him. (-:

I... sense some new alts coming. (Why can't I have a Plant/Mind Dom? Mind/Thorn is not the same... but might be doable. Hmmm....)

And I have GOT to find something to use with "Arm, Lend me Ire!"

The coming storm is a result of us abusing the power of the incarnates. By "speeding up" our path into the incarnate pools, they are infact speeding up their own plans for well to to activate some form of self defence and attempt to destroy us thus leaving us vulnerable to attack from the menders.

Well, thats my theory anyway Whether its any good or not . . . . . well it does sound like a "silos" plot!

"The Most High has spoken, even with His own blood," Melancton replied. "Surely we know."

Goodbye. Not to the game, but the players. Goodbye. Everyone, remember to have fun. That's all I can say.

It is not the abilities that have changed, just their mentalities.

The original Nemesis may have died, but that doesn't mean somebody isn't utilizing his genius from then to make him/herself powerful now.

before he died he made a robot son who wants to be a real boy. Now his robot son has taken up his work and is the new nemesis.

Well, we only know of three, out of a presumably infinite number of Earths. I'm sure on most Earths, Marcus Cole was just some guy.

Actually, on most Earths, human life probably never evolved. But we're not that interested in those.

But Silos might not be the Nemesis - he could be an alternative version than never went bad.
Right, this time the football won't be yanked away.

It is not a hero's job to "save" anyone, in the sense of redemption. That is a job for a therapist, or perhaps a clergyman. It is a hero's job to protect the innocent and serve the public trust.

Quote:
That is the very nature of why there is a contunued struggle between good and evil.
No, there's a continued struggle between good and evil because evil won't stop ******* with people.

Quote:
If you give up hope that they cant be saved then you give up on the idea that people can change and that leads to taking justice into your own hands.
Right, every jury that ever sent a criminal away for life without parole was composed of future vigilantes.

Oh wait, they weren't.

What leads to taking justice into your own hands is believing the world is wrong and you are right and only you can fix everything. Whether or not you believe a given offender is irredeemable doesn't matter. Human history is littered with examples of people who went beyond salvage, too many for the history books. We can just cut to the Godwin and go with Hitler. What would Hitler have to do to atone for his actions? An apology is not going to cut it, not even with roses and chocolates. Six million Hail Marys? Nope. No one responsible for the destruction of human life on that scale could possibly do anything to make up for it, and anyone who would ever trust such a person again is a sucker.
