well, its entirely rp, but back when i got the game, i made my character seraph blue, an angelic character, who's bio mentioned she was supposed to "bring peace between humans and rikti". now this was before i found out the story of the rikti, i just knew they were aliens, and she was an angel, so it made a good vague destiny type motivation. well, she didnt solo very well (emp/lit defender) but after screwing around for a while, issue 10 for a while had a lot of pugging on my server, so who is the bad guy she stomped to get 50? with some friends..it was hro'd toz. now, knowing the story of what he does, it kind of was humorously prophetic that as per the text of finishign that arc, she kind of did do what had been kind of a throw away bio detail. the purple drop was sweet luck however, good show on that. Guess to reach your full potential, you have to overcome yourself.

Yeah, I did that on purpose, too. It suddenly seemed like it could be possible to do, so it had to be done that way. Other than that, no. It's usually been in the company of a couple of my SG mates and then dinging 50 somewhere during a mission.
Maybe I should sit on level 49.99 for my next one until I get to call in a Story Arc. Then run to Ms. Liberty and ding 50 there. Nah, too self-indulgent. Would be funny, though.

Every blaster I've taken up to 50 has been like that. After they gave us inspirations on dinging, I always nuked when I got up too.
My best "story" is how I hit 50 with my Inv/SS Tanker. It was planned, rather than spontaneous though. But I turned off xp when I got dangerously close... And then turned it back on to run to Atlas and pick up the Undefeated badge. Dinged 50 on the billboard and got a screenshot.

My Tanker dinged 50 after killing the AV Nemesis at the end of the Rikti War Zone arc, when my Perfect Zinger: Chance for Psi Damage enhancement proc'd. That was definitely my coolest level 50 ding.

Ice/Ice/Arctic tanker with the team I'd been tanking for over most of the trip ro 50, versus Siege on the vertical map.
Add in about an hour of faffing about to align exact XP levels before hand, and all 8 of us dinged simultaneously when Siege fell over 
Ended up calling it the '8 Thing Ding'. I used to have a demorecord of it, but the hard drive it was on is no more.

I don't think I've really had a particularly epic level 50 ding, but probably my most interesting was during a Lady Grey TF... I was stealthing through the last mission to the end so I could use my veteran teleport power on all my teammates, and as soon as I turned the corner to the last room, I leveled up. Turns out my teammates were randomly killing stuff at the other end of the map.
I have made an effort to save screenshots of all my 50s when they get there... because of that, I can at least say what enemies I was fighting each time!

My first wasn't so epic in his ding. It was just after i9, he'd done the new Hami (urgh, 7 hours) and by that point I had all but given up. I made it to 46 with the hope of joining a powerlevel team as a bridge and spent two nights soaring the rest of the way till he dinged 50 where I did what we all did back then: made a kheldian, played it a bit and then barely touched it for another 3 issues or so
He has helped other reached 50 through RP and one was more directly. A friend was levelling his Earth/Storm troller and was breaching the 49 run. So we got together with a thrid party and began an Ouro run in the RWZ arcs. We went through the initiation arc and then on to 'The Strange Case of Benjamin A. Decker'. As we finished the second arc, I called it in and my friend dinged his first hero 50 thanks to the old double reward finisher.
My first epic 50 came when I tried Spines/Dark (after dinging 50 on a firekin and my MM had dinged during a solo mission late one night). He solo'd most content easily on common IOs, some of which he's STILL slotted with, and was my first real F-YEAH when I took on Baphomet and won (my first solo high level E-B defeat). During his 49 race-to-the-finish I stayed up all night with a friend (also on the 49 run) and dinged at about 11am doing one of the old Praetorian arcs.

We're running the Maria Jenkins arc and get the Save Statesman mission. We go in fighting, and I'm getting awfully close to 50. My Dual Blades/Willpower scrapper, Crow Call, charges Tyrant with the others. The surrounding minions are quickly dispatched, leaving us to deal with the big man himself. Fight goes for a bit.
Tyrant goes down.
You have defeated Tyrant.
You gain [whatever] experience and [dunno] influence.
CONGRATULATIONS! YOU ARE NOW LEVEL 50!
My first 50 in CoH ever, really one of my first characters, in my first supergroup... and I hit 50 by dropping Tyrant. It was awesome.

Scarlet Shocker dinged on one of the big outdoor maps - this would have been back in 2006, and I'd got about 28 people in the map with me - we'd invite someone, they'd join, enter the map and quit the team to join another team and follow us around.
Psyber-Girl dinged on the Egg Hunter badge, after going from 20-50 in a DXP weekend but she's been remade since then.
I can barely remember the other 50s dings in comparison. It'd be nice to ding 50 with the Top Dog badge but you'd have to forgo the Atlas Medallion for a long while
