    A name request?

    WOW!!!!

Using your command I managed to track down the names owner and what luck there still an active player!

@Ura Hero, contacted me in game and said I could have the name! Even deleted their character for me

Sooooo happy and thankful to @Ura Hero there are no words!

    What a great guy/gal

Case closed and one extremely happy camper here.

    Doc M
    Hell yeah it helps! Ridiculously!

Im on my laptop right now and about to sleep so Ill have to wait until tomorrow.

*fingers crossed if the global prompts my memory and it is my account I can retrieve it!*

Makes me wonder why the devs didn't suggest that command to me over our 6-8 emails ... In fact they wouldn't even tell me the global yet I can find out in game with a / command? o.O'

    Thanks again Doc

((also im hoping that command works even if the character is offline right?))
Guess ill find out tomorrow, or maybe a speedy reply from anyone before I got to bed?

    A name request?

    Hey all,

I know this is an ambitious post but I was wondering if someone who uses the forums also owns the name im looking for.

Basically, my main character "Sam Swift" ((its also my global @Sam Swift)) was born and raised on Union. Now that Ive moved to Virtue ((Its amazing over here btw *waves*)) I was sad to find that his name was taken and settled for Samuel Swift with the free server transfer.

*I had reason to believe that I may have owned the name from a long time ago when 2 week trial accounts existed and I made throwaways to keep playing ((was to young to pay sub))
I had man emails to and from some of the Devs about this issue, and I was still kinda sure that I did own the name but for security reasons they couldn't release any details ofc.
and they ended our discussion with "It looks the the character Sam Swift is active on Virtue"

Now Im still not 100% sure they understood completely where I was coming from but that may well mean that Sam Swift has logged into virtue recently rather than 2-3 years ago ...

But this is a request to the person who may be reading this to ask humbly if you are particular attached to that name on that toon? Maybe its an unplayed low level or a 50?
and wonder if you would consider giving it up?

((I know that this is alot to ask as it means using a free server transfer to rename or to delete a character that you own))

But maybe you would be willing to do this, if you can even read this poorly lettered post lol and what you might want in return?

One of the names I have saved?
    or something else prehaps?

At the very least if you own this toon and do not want to give it up at all please respond to this post so I can lay this to rest and no 100% that I do not own the name on some long forgotten account that I cant access anymore

    Thanks

    Sam.

    Stone/Dark

    Thanks for the reply Rangle,

Haha your build is slightly better than mine in almost every way :P

I like the changes alot, im just tinkering now to try and get that damage to atleast even ((for some reason the -1% is bugging me lol))

Yeah those panceas will be expensive but clearly will be worth it !
  5. Shady Sam

    Stone/Dark

So, im not the biggest fan of tanks , but I decided I should have at least one that I get to 50 and spent money one, so I though I may as well make the toughest tank possible so I ran with Stone/Dark to be Unkillable mwhahahahaha ((I know that I will eventually be killed ))

With dreams on being able to auto fire' Siphon Life' and afk tank recluse ((Not sure if this is even possible, but I hope ... also Incarnates are OP ))

So heres the build I whipped up ...

    Notes:
-In granite I have +rech and +damage so thats good
-I have Rock armour and Minerals slotted so that out of Granite ((for psi)) I am softcapped to Psi and close enough to S/L that its not really a problem
-Run speed isnt great, but then again I can teleport and dont care that much.
-Ive also chucked the PVP 3%Def in Stone Skin as an after thought, Im still Softcapped to S/L/F/C/E/N without it but I though with only 60%DDR more defence couldnt hurt?

    Questions:
-Gloom is amazing on Brutes, you know it, I know it, but how is it for tanks? Im not very good at attack chains but it seems like Gloom will make a solid addition and maybe ill run something like ?
MG>Gloom>SL>Smite>Shadow Punch ... rinse and repeat using MG every other time and soul drain when up ((also Dark night looks pretty handy))

-Am I right in thinking Smite>Shadow Maul ... Ive tried shadow maul ... Hated it, I hope ive drawn the correct conclusion

-and as always the once over to check for mistakes/improvements/suggestions etc

    Input is always apprechiated

    Evil_Legacy,

Ive been browsing the forums for a couple of hours now (cant sleep and bored ) and I have to see Ive seen your name ALOT, on all kinds of different threads and the one thing that struck me is ...

In almost every single one your being aggressive/argumentative/defensive etc
Its actually a little silly, you can tell this because I've taken the time to stop and comment about it.

The little fiasco from earlier in this thread about distrusting Mids, was frankly so ridiculous I currently suspect that you are a troll.

Giving you the benefit of the doubt, and some friendly advice. Try to chill a little man , at the end of the day its only a game and who cares if others dont share your opinion on a particular topic? If your happy with it the roll with it.

-Again this post is kinda ... odd to say the least but Ive seen your name in so many 'arguments/disagreements' in the last hour or so I just felt like commenting on it-

    Now to try and sleep.

    Peace. zzzzz

  9. Hey,

((Title was an Adele reference btw not some morbidly depressing post ))

Ive been looking at trying to maximise my main's build ((ma/sr))

Not that the old build was bad, far from it. He sat at 6 secs from perma hasten, no end issues, runs the top Ma attack chain, softcapped to M,R,Aoe and carries Aid Self.

Everything you would expect from a half decent Ma/Sr build (i hope ) ...

Basically with this new build Ive kept all that good stuff and more, now 1 sec of perma hasten, more accuracy etc

What Ive changed the most is the S/L resistance from 16% to 24%, to do this Ive chucked in the Pvp 3% res IO and taken the 6th slot Damage proc from Cobra strike in favour of the 6th piece of ATO for the small S/L bonus.

I still have a slot free aswell ...

What I was thinking is that my Defences are now only at 46% so I could stick the Pvp 3% def in tough to round them up a bit. Or chase that last 1sec of recharge for hasten?

I guess what Im really asking is is the 6% increase to S/L worth it? or should I leave the damage proc in Cobra and just chase more recharge?

If anyone can see any glaring errors or improvements they would make feel free to chip in. ((Another option i thought of was to drop Conserve Power in favour of Focussed Accuracy and maybe 2 slot for end red?))

Note: Not interested in Incarnate soft cap (dont really like to solo and on trials theres always more than enough +Def from league mates to cover)

Try Rad/Fire ... Mines only level 20 but holy hell is he fun.

3 PBAoE's already and a damage aura already, and still to come another AoE and the PBAoE Nuke ((soon to be cashless)) and another damage toggle ...

'Blapping' may not be everyones cup of tea but I find /fire shines in Melee range.

The build would require IOs for S/L or Melee for high end builds, but as Im sure you know S/L particularly is incredibly easy to obtain in IO form.

Rad/ also lowers enemies defence, helping the team out and means that most of Rad's/ powers can take the Achilles heel proc that Katana users know and love. ((I feel it will be especially useful in Irradiate particularly with the i24 proc changes))

I guess if Melee isnt your thing then something other than rad/ will be better for you. Preferably a set with ranged AoE so something like Fire, Water, Elec, Archery come to mind.

With the snipeless primaries such as Ice, what changes are being made to ensure they don't become under-performers?
Well none actually, all tier 3 blasts are being 'normalised' to a range of 80ft but this will also apply to snipe sets such as fire's blaze, also im not sure if the activation time on tier 3 will also be brought into line. Sonics Shout comes to mind.

What has been said is that i24 will be watched closely to see if the non snipe sets ((ice, sonic,Dual pistols there the ones I can remember :S)) are under performing and then steps will be taken. (I imagine in Ice/ particular case this will mean making the hold do more damage , but thats just my guess))

One suggestion for one of the extra slots, the Gaussian Proc in followup is popular. Should get better with I24, though I'm not 100% sure what the proc rate would be.

If you want to get your ranged/aoe up, putting an extra slot in maneuvers and finishing the red fortune would get you almost all the way without ML and over incarnate with ML. Swapping the 3 Res/Ends in Tough to Aegis would get an extra 1.56% aoe defense. Those two changes would put you at 49.9/44.9/44 without ML and over incarnate softcap with ML. This all is including Mask Presence. Just FYI, there is a setting now in Mids where you can tell it to act as if you are in combat, so you get suppressed value. Under effects and math, right hand side, check either Attacked or ActivateAttack.

edit: about endurance, Widows and Forts are complete End hogs. They have a lot of toggles, plus their attacks are all fast animating long recharge. Which is great for DPA, but not so great for end. Cardiac is definitely worth thinking about.

Edit2: looking at the build, Slash is going to be the one to worry about on your attack chain. it's at 4.6s recharge, which means you need to fill that much time with your other attacks. Best option I see right now is FU, Strike, Slash, Lunge, Strike. This is a chain of about 6.3s. Which means that you would be able to double stack followup for part of the chain but not all of it. Assuming your beating on something like an AV or Pylon. This chain will burn about 4.6 end per second without Cardiac. With Cardiac Core Paragon, the chain is down to 3.6 eps, and Cardiac also lowers the total cost of your toggles by about 0.25 eps. This about doubles the duration that you can run this attack chain.
    Thanks Yvsires,

I turned on that option in mids and it helped alot. I chucked the BU proc in FU like you said ((looks like it should be a winner)) and put some Scirocco's in Eviscerate. I put the 6th Mako in strike rather than Manoeuvres to get me a bit more ranged. Now looking at it I should be softcap for M/R/AoE without ML and Icaped with ML.

Those are my changes if anything else grabs anyone let me know.

  14. Hi,

I recently started playing a SOA ((which im sure, if you're reading this then you are delighted to hear))

I've had alot of experience with their Kheldian counter parts but sadly never managed anything more than a crab in his 20's :P

So I rolled me a widow and Im very much enjoying her. Since i've recently started drifting from Union towards Virtue ((more people = more fun imo)) I need a main for the server and decided that it may well be this toon.

    *Ramble ramble*

Here we go then, my 1st attempt at widow build. I had a poke around to look for 'skipable' powers yada yada and came up with this.

-As I understand it ((and as mids tells me)) suppressed Mask Presence will grant 3.6% def in my build which will put me to the softcap for everything ((assuming thats correct))

-I also had Isoft cap for Melee.

-Endurance looks manageable although the powers seem to have high end costs.

-Perma Mind link and hasten. ((without alpha, which incidentally I think ill be going musculature any ways))

-I think :S that it could run the 'top' single target attack chain aswell, which iirc is something like FU, Lunge, Slash, Strike (with swipe as buffer?)
Spin will be useful in crowds as I hope eviscerate will be.

Any and all feed back welcomed and appreciated ((I also have 2 spare slots atm ... I felt like I lost direction once the perma hasten and 59%melee were achieved :S))

  15. Infact I just did some Jiggerypokery ((yeah its a word, i saw it in my home made thesaurus)) >.>

I dropped Cloak of Fear, and Picked up Manoeuvres ... now they cost basically the same to run BUT! I also cracked a set of Kinetic Combat in Heavy Mallet in place of the crushing impact ((5% recharge bonus is topped by another LOTG anyways)) and managed to get softcap to S/L, 39% to E/N and within 1 small purple for melee ...

Me thinks this would be better ...?

and would subtract from my already prevalent issue of things trying to run from me

    Thoughts? ...

    Ahhhh nice catch guys

I completely missed the chance to put them in the mallets .... hmmmm

Im not sure how the endurance would suffer if I had 3-4 of those procs going (2 in AoE's) it might not work out to be a good thing lol

Im currently only lvl 29 on the toon in question ((gona fully commit to him once i finish my final set of purps on my WS)) so I dont know how that would work out ....

I am having my doubts about Cloak of Fear however ... With the soon the be basically perma Mag 4 stun it seems like it might just be a waste of end. I know I took it based mostly on the -tohit component but from what I hear that is HEAVILY resisted by everything that really you would need it for (tough AVs and incarnate)) ... I guess dropping it ... taking a random mule and adding the slots for FF proc to a mallet and Fault? Not to sure just ball parking ...

Im ogling my build now and cant decide on CoF
  17. Hey,

I don't know if I've somehow managed to completely miss it, but I cant seem to find instructions on how to install this pack anywhere?

It would be really great if someone could give me a hand.
  18. Hey,

Ive always wanted a /Dark toon but I never really got past the mid teens. With my recent Brute spree (aren't they just great?) I decided to try a stone/dark brute out knowing the synergy with stacking stuns etc (and the endurance nightmare that would follow)

I LOVE IT ! Really, one of the most fun melee toons ive played in a while

After just over 48hours of life he's already lvl 25 and so decided to look towards a build.

-I tried my best to do my homework with regards to Oppressive gloom and/or Cloak of Fear but couldn't seem to get a definitive answer.-

Since I have neither power atm (though I have a human form warshade so I know how OP works) I don't know how badly mobs will be running/waddling if I combine them. If anyone has reasons for or against OP/CoF or OP+CoF it would be great to hear them.

(edit) To outline my goals for the build. I went for 32.5% for S/L/E/N (as suggested by Dechs I believe in an old dark armor post) as opposed to chasing 45% Melee or S/L. Im not sure how smooth the attack chain would be. (it seems like it would be ok just from eyeballing) and im not sure the extra demand for endurance would help. ((I could afford the PVP 3% def at a stretch though it would probably clean me out money wise :P ... but if it ment i could drop weave and keep 32.5% s/l/e/n I would consider it (assuming 32.5% s/l/e/n is the way to go for /dark) ))

    "Any and all feedback welcomed"

Anyways here the build ((cardiac will obviously be my choice for Alpha))

  19. Ive read more mixed reviews about regen than just about any other set in the game and it seems to be a very marmite sort of power set.

Ive always loved the idea of regen (with the idea of having an imortal toon something like Jack from torchwood, minus the stylish coat) but in my experience (scrappers with regen) ive had a hard time getting to love it, and subsequently any scrapper/regen ive mad (3 iirc) have never lived to see 20 (oh the irony)

But now after recently committing to 'pimping' out my SS/INV (which is a monster btw) i have a taste for brute blood ...

So THE question ... Is regen any good? and by that I mean if i were to IO it to the gills (just shy of things like pvp 3% def) would it be able to stand shoulder to shoulder with the likes of my /INV or a softer tank for the matter?

Will it be worth the effort?

I also went Diamagnetic aswell, the reason being that i already have tier 4 (damage) alpha and enough recharge to run the top end attack chain and really didnt feel i needed anymore damage and would get far more utility from the -tohit (especially when its down to just one big bad guy like an Eb or Av)

As for the barrier debate ... i can see what people are saying but on Incarnate trials there are always enough manoeuvres etc to tip my up to the incarnate softcap so i personally dont think barrier is all that useful, especially when most of the things hitting you then are autohit powers

I think Rebirth/regen is a better choice for me, you get and instant heal for when you get hit and also with the regen if i get hit with dot attacks i can use it where aid self would be interrupted. I personally feel for me rebirth is the better choice ...

would like to hear more on Diamagnetic vs (the damage one i forget the name ) would be goot to know the general consensus for that to.
  21. Thanks guys

I was leaning towards fortunata anyways but you've helped to topple me over.

Now i just need to think of a good name hmmmm

    Ty again
  22. Hey all,

Im about to make my first SoA (bout time) because they look cool and I want one so there

I am unashamedly a numbers guy, i have a SS/INV Brute, MA/SR scrapper and a Ill/Rad troller Io'ed to the gills and are (assuming i like my SoA) a similar fate awaits this potential toon.

I was/am leaning towards Fortunata because i dont have any ranged toons (and dont wana be dragged face down to 50 as a blaster) ... however if the general consensus is that widows are superior, then thats where ill hang my hat

    So which is to be?

    Fortunata?
    Widow?
    Night Widow?
  23. Ive just finished incarnating out one of my favourite toon (Ma/Sr) and was wondering what to slot into his Destiny?

He has a full build etc. (ill post below) and i just cant decide what to take ... Im obviously torn between Barrier and Rebirth, i think in my toons case its mainly his /SR side that dictates this choice is there a general concusses with super reflexes as which is better?

((im guessing Rebirth but just want to be sure))

  24. Hey all,

Now not that it matters a great deal, and i dont believe i actually care but i am curious to know before i pull the trigger on it..

My question is basically, if i rename my global handle in game what will happen to my forum name? will it change or stay the same? and if the latter is true can it be changed?

    Thanks.
  25. Hey Alien,

Thanks for taking the time to check out my build.

Ive had a look (obviously corrected the silly mistakes :P ty for pointing those out) and incorporated a lot of what you said (its a shame about Eclipse slotting), mostly Gravimetric snare. Ive not changed the Alpha at all just because im not playing CoH much atm and cant see myself grinding the incarnate 'content' that much right now. End use is still pretty damn high though ...

haha duno where to go from here tbh, now im even thinking maybe drop the fighting pool altogether, and focusing on pure offence and having stygian circle up virtually all the time. ahhhhh decisions decisions ....
