Oh great another newb.....

Hey guys while im certainly not new to video games or MMORPGs for that matter I am new to City of heroes. Because of this I am looking for a Supergroup to join who can answer some of my questions and to keep me entertained with banter during my early level grind think im gonna play on the virtue server so if any SG's are available there who are pretty active I would love to be a part of your group! just remember I aint no ******* helping me to get the grips of this game is an investment in someone to play with more than anything

Mid's Hero Builder - This is a wonderful tool that allows you to fully plan out your build without being in game.

Also, I've got a full server on Virtue so I don't play there much at the moment. Currently running Praetorians on Liberty. However I would like to help you with the learning curve. If you are looking for an SG on Virtue I suggest visiting the server's forum and looking at the SG list sticky. In the meantime I invite you to try the NPC Mentor Program chanel for questions you may have about the game. You can find more information here.

Wow awesome responses thanks guys! think im gonna like it here as games like this are always made by the community behind them my steam download is still going so i was just trying to get some preperation done before jumping into the game ill try out all of those links and post again if i have any further questions

Yep our community is why I've been here for 6 years and don't plan on leaving.

Way back when I 1st started playing, a great guy by the name Temp_Extremes gifted me about 20,000 influence, just cause he liked my costume. This was a great deal back then (long long before we had inventions or a market) I never could've afforded DO's without it!

Every since then I've enjoyed being on the other end. Since I don't bother with Sets I've got millions to spare.

Already a lot of good information has been passed on, I just wanted to touch on one thing mentioned in your OP.

Do not concern yourself about the so-called grind to max-level. CoX has always been geared for the creation of alts and you will hear it often in these parts "It's not about the destination, it's about the journey."

There are tonnes of things to do on your way to 50, not a whole to do once you get there (compared to the rest of the content of the game that is.)

Two things here :

1 ) Here "Noob/n00b" and "Newb" are different and treated as such - the former an insult applied regardless of time playing he game; the later just be a way of saying newcomer (and non-derogatory at that!). So, as you can tell, Welcome

2 ) remember to use paragraphs in the forums there are some people here that will skim/skip such posts (especially after long days of work).


Note about the wiki : paragonwiki.com and wiki.cohtitan.com are the same site. There is a wikia site, but it's frequently out of date and virus infected. Avoid the wikia.

Also, if you want to check rumors on what's supposed to be out next update, check the www.paragonwiki.com/wiki/Issues page - on upcomming issues they list confrimed, rumored, and pure speculation comments about the issues.

When I say "Great" it's because it actually is. People like you remind us of what it was like when all this stuff was shiny and new.

... I usually limit myself to one or two pieces of advice per new player. For this one I'm going with the classic: "The door to get OUT of the tram is not the same door you use to go IN to the tram." Yeah, I found out the hard way. More flippantly, if you're in [say] Steel Canyon, around level 14, and you think you see some giant mushrooms walking down the street: Do not take a closer look. They are real, and they will kick your ***.

Thanks again for all the greetings and info guys... unfortunately it looks unlikely that ill see you guys in game as a uk resident I found myself playing on the limited (and a bit deserted) EU servers. The game however is interesting and fun if a bit daunting lol thanks again for the help

will transferring to NA version make my existing characters etc become useless or will my account carry over?

I've played with a number of non-Americans on the NA servers and we usually have fun. This game is more of a melting pot than New York City is. The community here is the best there is.

What you might want to do is join a chat channel of the server of your choice. That way, you can ask any question and get a fast answer (in most cases). Most people are great for helping out here.
