Discussion: City of Heroes Northern CA Meet and Greet 2010!
I haven't completely made up my mind on this, but wanted to go ahead and post my current thoughts on how my plans for the weekend will go if I attend.
Take off from work on Friday, fly out from Houston to San Francisco. Check into a really cheap hotel for 2 nights. Use BART, cable cars and (if absolutely necessary) taxis for transportation. Of course, once in the area of Elephant & Castle I'll be on foot as walking while sight-seeing isn't a problem. Fly back to Houston late Sunday morning or early Sunday afternoon. Drive back home from Houston.
Friday afternoon, Friday night, Saturday morning, Saturday afternoon and possibly Sunday morning I'll be looking for low-cost entertainment, sight-seeing and meals. I'll most likely be at whatever Justice get-together that Red Gren comes up with. Oh, and for you non-Justice players (shame on you) feel free to join us. We don't exclude people from other servers. If I can arrange it, I'd like to be able to get together with Chris, Jill and Liz at some point over the weekend, just to get to say hi and see old friends.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Well, you people are stuck with me. I've booked a flight out (thank you frequent flyer miles), a hotel (pre-paid for the discount), and I'll get some BART tickets once I get to the airport. I'll pick up the BART SFO travel pack and will get tickets as I need them for other travel. I'll likely get some Muni tickets as well.
In other words, you folks are stuck with me once again. Someone be prepared to entertain me once I hit town.

I decided to splurge for this one. Yes it's going to cost me a weeks pay but how often do any of us get to stay in a 2000 sq' Suite? I'll be at the Mandarin Oriental in the Taipan Suite.
A week's pay? Are they hiring where you work?
I'll certainly try to make any arrangements to come. Been wanting to try and go to one of these for awhile.
I'll have to get a room someplace since I don't want to make the 400 mile trek back to LA at 1am.

If any of the attendees wants to trade the Meat Doctor code for one of the ones I won in the Party Pack contest, please let me know. The only one I've applied so far is the Praetorian PPD.

Looks like you're buying the first round.
I foresee a lot of "first rounds" in your future...
I was really, really hoping I'd have found out by now that I have a job. But as I'm still unemployed, I have to miss this one.

I have not been to SF in years but I do know that it is usually much better taking the BART in than driving by car. (Even if I want to drive on the new bay bridge)
So my question is, just how much is this "fee" for that parking garage on Clay and Battery? The other questions are, can I expect that parking garage to be full by 5pm on Saturday and what time does it close.
Looks like BART is best but I want to consider all options.

The Bay Bridge is still the same ole for now, construction on the new bridge isn't done yet.
Howdy all!
Hey, is anybody coming from or through Sacramento, CA with room in a car?
I will gladly pay gas money, bring hot scones and organic fruit, and provide quiet, intelligent and silly company. If nobody shouts out, I'll go by train, bus and BART.
Well, I cannot abide travel uncertainty, so I have gotten train tickets and a room.
I was unable to RSVP on the Facebook page, because I want nothing to do with Facebook. It looked like I would have to sign in to the thing in order to post.
Thank you, but oh hell no.
The Golden Gateway garage (right across Battery St.) has $7 all day parking on Sat. (or get it validated in any shop in Chinatown to make it $3). This garage is open 24/7 and has almost 1100 spaces, should be spaces available.

Ok, thanks for the info, at least I know a car isn't out of the question.

I know I'm late to the party here, but I can get rooms starting at $139 for any attendee at the Fairmont San Francisco which is less than a mile away from the venue. I just stayed there on Oct 5th and the place was beautiful. It's on the top of Nob Hill.
PM me and I'll pass you my phone number to finish the details.

Just a heads up to those traveling in from out of the area.
A chance of rain is forecasted for Saturday evening and Sunday. It tends to be windy in the city so pack appropriate attire. Dress in layers. If you are flying in, expect delays in arrival/departure times at SFO, OAK, and SJO if it is raining.
Looks like my husband and I will be there as well ^_^ We've been wanting to see SF for years, so this seems like a good event to time a weekend trip around.
