And here it is, exactly as I predicted in that other aura thread.

God bless the absolute predictability of our forum malcontents.

Anyway... since the convo has steered to fee tactics, I would suggest 'tiered membership'

Silver - Access to only X servers; limited Y number of of character slots, MA slots and costume slots (and other limitations, some, which can be overcome through micro-transactions) - lowest cost (or free)

Gold - Increases server access, character, MA and costume slot limits; paid server transfers; limited ig-mail privileges; even split between micro-transactions and items built into free releases (regular cost)

Platinum - Full access to all servers and slots; free server transfers; full ig-mail privileges (item transfer); anything that would normally come as a micro-transaction is built into free updates

[Not a complete example but hopefully, you get the idea]

Apparently, I play "City of Shakespeare"
*Arc #95278-Gathering the Four Winds -3 step arc; challenging - 5 Ratings/3 Stars (still working out the kinks)
*Arc #177826-Lights, Camera, Scream! - 3 step arc, camp horror; try out in 1st person POV - 35 Ratings/4 Stars

This might work on a new game just being introduced, but I don't think they could successfully market it to an audience that has been playing the game for a while. Especially if they had to pay more for the same gaming experience that they have been getting for less. Just for arguments sake, let's say the the pay scale goes like this:

Silver - $14.99
Gold - $15.99
Platinum - $16.99

I know this is different from your example, but this way they make money on all accounts. Only problem is that the long term players have been getting full access to the game now for only $14.99 a month, BUT that same amount would now only get them limited access. Can you hear the mental screams? Especially if the server they have been playing on is no longer one of the ones they have access to for the lower prices?

Highly unlikely (IMO) that this would be implemented, but I'll give you my personal objection anyway:
I only play on one server, Virtue. I only want to play on one server. (Others have cooties.) All of my vet slots have gone there, etc. On that one server, however, I would want full privileges.
Do you have a program for me? One that would offer better value than just continuing to pay $15/month?

Weird. I guess because I wasn't offended by the Party Pack (just didn't buy it), it didn't occur to me that "another initiative" would be a pay pack. I assumed it would be tied to the Incarnate content or system somehow. I guess I'm just an optimist.

It's not really hard to imagine how people would get a different idea since theOcho himself made a clear distinction between "issue" and "another initiative" in the very same sentence.

If he actually meant it was for a different issue, then he might want to edit that post.

But like any popularity contest, you know the "we have what you want if you vote for us thing", people have come to expect the usual politicking and back-peddling normally associated with such things, especially in light of recent events.

That would be a tad different from what I was going for

I guess that silver would be a (free) but extremely limited account, gold would be what we have now (mostly) and platinum would be what we've come to expect plus no microtransactions.

They could even lower the bar for gold so that current use is deemed 'platinum'.

Free (+MTs), $9.95 (+MTs), $14.95.

If you choose to only use one server, then you're no better or worse off than now; especially being that each tier limits you to a server set (not just one server).

I think that if they went to this model the game would go under. There is enough people playing today that would be happy with just the free part that Paragon Studios could not afford to keep running. At least with my method they still make at least the same amount per customer and more on some that want more access. You still would have to worry about the longer term players though that would throw up the BS flag and leave the game for it.

That is definitely the same thing as hard evidence.

Whoa, man, HOLD UP. Apparently you didn't get that this is a Very Serious conspiracy thread. No one asked for your reasonable responses to things you don't want.

It was fun.

I want to personally thank you for taking the difficult, brave stance in trying times like these. You are an inspiration to us all.

Please keep us current on further developments in your personal purchasing decisions re: a computer game.

Well I would simply argue that if the Rednames wanted to do anything to STOP people from talking about supposed conspiracies then TheOcho should have probably not used the vaguely loaded word "initiative" (as opposed to "issue") without fully explaining what he meant by that.

Frankly I think the Devs are sometimes their own worst enemies when it comes to things like this...

Loth 50 Fire/Rad Controller [1392 Badges] [300 non-AE Souvenirs]
Ryver 50 Ele Blaster [1392 Badges]
Silandra 50 Peacebringer [1138 Badges] [No Redside Badges]

Hey FelicityBane, for someone that appears to be arguing for a little more reasonableness, you sure seem to be going about it the wrong way. Try making a well thought out argument to prove your point instead of attacking people.

At this point you remind me of someone else in some of these threads . . . you wouldn't happen to be an Alternate account for Nethergoat would you? He also likes to make attack posts like this.

Brilliant logic on par with the rest of your musings on this topic.

here, I'll do it too-

You wouldn't happen to be an alternate account for Pebblebrook would you?

Ever find it odd how the phrase "marketing dept" is used in much the same way that many people use the word "evil"? I always feel the love radiating from posts when marketing comes up.

You know GMan3, I was wondering if FelicityBane and Nethergoat were the same person on alternate accounts too. They do have the same style of attack posts instead of constructive arguments. Their signatures are even of a similar sort, the type that attacks everyone that disagrees with them. Mr. Nethergoat did admitted to buying more than one of the "Party Packs" for his alternate accounts too a while back. Even if they are not the same person though, I would lump them into the same sack - people to NOT listen too most of the time.

Thank you thank you thank you for finally adding more "magical" auras!

Considering TheOcho's wording I would surmise that this new 'initiative' is one of the following:

1. Part of a planned expansion for seasonal events (ie. Haloween/Christmas) with more unlockable costume pieces, either for logging in during the event, or earnable through missions/salvage/participation during said events.

2. Part of a booster pack, possibly an aura-only booster pack, or as part of another booster pack.

3. An unlockable aura which is in some way related to the new End-Game content, possibly requiring missions or incarnate levels to unlock.

4. Part of a new In-Game event that has still to be revealed. This could be something similar to the Rikti raids, but new and unseen.

5. Part of Issue 20 or some other planned free expansion of the game.

Now, I seriously doubt that #5 is true, especially considering TheOcho's term that they were being planned for 'Another Initiative'.

I think that #1 or #2 are the most likely.

The following powers have alternate animation choices:

Primary Sets: Dark Blast, Electric Blast, Energy Blast, Fire Blast, Radiation Blast, Ice Blast, Psychic Blast, Sonic Attack, Mind Control.

Secondary Sets: Psionic Assault, Sonic Resonance, Icy Assault, Fiery Assault, Mental Manipulation, Energy Assault, Electricity Manipulation, Integration.
Very excited for this, but has integration become a set unto itself?

Antlers? OMG, I never thought of ANTLERS! That would be SO cool. Just typing this I thought of 3 different concepts for toons. PLEASE GIVE US ANTLERS!
