Hi

I started playing a Electric Dom the other day. and it has this one power, conductive aura
that pulses out and every few pulses flicks out farther. after about 30 mins it started causeing me to get really Ill. My head would pound in the rythem of the pules and my eyes would kinda spaz out to the flicker. i logged off and went to bed but my head still pounded most of the night.
I really would hate to have to just write off the power type and am hopeing thier is a way to turn off the graphic for the aura that i just can't find. the more i think about it the more i'm sure thier has to be one as, pulsing like is knowen to cause sezures in some people, so i'm thinking i just don't know where to find it in the many diffrent option screens.

i'd really be thankful if any info on hope to find a way

the developers are never going to completely remove some power effects. E.G. Fire Aura is always going to wrap your avatar in flames, and Dark Armor is always going to wrap your avatar in shadows.

That being said, the developers are open to alternate animations and lessoned effects. It's probably going to be a long while before the teams lead by Noble Savage and BaBs can put together new animations for things like pulse armors, if they ever do.

Your best bet is to go to the costume vendor, and modify the powers on your pulse, picking a color combination that is heavily desaturated.

If the power is repeatedly causing eye-strain, creating a new animation could be made a priority for the developers, such as when it was found that the colors in some of the Praetorian missions were fouling up the ability of color-impaired players to enjoy the game. In such a case, I would file an in-game bug, and post in Nobel Savage's art threads, as well as filing a ticket at http://help.ncsoft.com

Only idea I can think of asking is have you tried using the color customization to find a less offensive color. For me certain colors are what give me headaches.

There's an option in the menu to suppress armor Fx on your own character when the camera is really, really close. Then, there's a command you can type in to increase the range in which this suppresses. This'll turn off all auras completely.

As for the actual command to do this, I don't know it myself. It's out there though.

I don't think it'll necessarily be a long time if enough people complain about it. Remember that they completely reworked the visual effects for Sonic due to similar complaints.

I have to say that I can sympathize with this problem.

It's not really the effects that do it, it's how BUSY the effects are with certain people.

No two people are exactly alike, as such different patterns and effects will be either pleasing or horrible and it varies from person to person. Static field gives me a headache if I look directly down at it because I have trouble ignoring the little details and my eyes try to focus on each little spark effect. I have thus learned to simply not look at that power from certain angles because it's not the color, it's the pattern.

Different people, different problem, same powerset. Try other colors and see if you can find one or two that work. If no colors diminish the headache effect you seem to be getting, then you'll have to settle for figuring out how to run the power without displaying the power.

/suppressclosefx - turns effect suppression on/off based on whether the camera is closer than the distance set in the next command
/suppressclosefxdist - sets the distance for the previous command

Try these.
The two commands are useful, but they do not solve the problem if you get ill from other players with the auras.

Well, if you are one of the people who get ill from that power being visible it will fix it on YOUR characters.

But you won't be able to team with, or even be around someone who is running the power, because the power suppression commands are only for your powers.

Sounds like the same problem they had with the sonic auras. If it's a widespread issue and not just a case of the OP being particularly sensitive to it they should (and probably will) implement some kind of fix.

(I'm still bummed that they removed the stun aura )

soon as i got my elec to the conductive aura stage i found i started getting headaches myself. Really bad ones some even turning to migraines. Tried changing the colours etc but still get them so i gave up on the character for now til we can get some aura supress customization for it.

Thing is i team a lot and it happens also when someone on the team has this power so the slash commands won't help me much

Hoping the devs get a fix for this soon, i REALLY want to properly try the elec set out without having to log after 10 mins

Took them a little less than two years to nerf my beloved Sonic Resonance animations.

If you round up enough torch-wielding villagers they might eventually nail Conductive Aura too. Good luck!

P.S. to the OP: Welcome to the forums!!!!!

While very good, these don't hide ALL of the effects on your own character, some will still be visible.

For example, you can still see the green quills shooting on a spine scrapper and the little floating balls from one of the fire or thermal shields.

Interestingly until power customization was implemented the quills were hidden with /suppressclosefx. Now I only play my fire/spine scrapper in short doses.

Emphasis mine. They're green? I thought the base color was yellowish.

Are you seeing green quills, or the green POISON "effect". Difference.
