So how anal retentive are you on managing your characters?
You're insane.

I couldn't tell you what is on my main toon (my scrapper) that I have been playing for 6 years. I know she has some purples and uniques, but that is about it.
I should note that I have given up on IOing my toons except for my scrapper and widow. All other toons get stuff that looks "nice".
Could probably get rid of the dates... Not really sure of the point to that any more.

I like the completely unnecessary abbreviation for titanium.

Well, this does explain the long periods of apparent inactivity in the FoJ and SoV bases.
I had just chalked it up to being distracted by pr0n...
And to answer the question: Not at all.
Hell. I've logged into toons after x weeks/months of relative inactivity and wondered, "Now why did I put out those bids?". Or more likely, discovering a purple/numina/miracle/lotg recipe I'd forgotten about.
Better to reign in hell than serve in heaven.
I'd comment......
but I don't click links from dead people
I've already forgotten about most of you

When IO's first came out way back in the day, they were initially expensive. People had in some case dozens of level 50's that they wanted IO's on all of them. I took the slot as stuff drops approach and waited for prices to drop to go on buying sprees, but realized that I'd need to keep track on who had what slotted and who had what holes in their sets.
So I created a spreadsheet! Now, I tend to fully slot when they hit 50, but still keep track of everything for planning. On the left is character name, how much inf they had, last date that inf changed/was verified, if they need vanguard merits for fanny back, lotg rare, numina, etc. Bottom is misc notes like idea for next respec or if they have crafting bids out. |
Okay, ouch my head hurts. You must be an Accountant that works in a room all day with no windows and any direct access to sunlight?..heh...heh. Someone has waaay too much time on their hands. We need to get you on Dr. Phil and see if he can help.

On my last computer, I had something close to 450 builds.
These are the only ones that I kept after switching hard drives. I build a lot. I can't help it.
Most of them are specs I've had, or will have - not just fake builds I do in my spare time. These are actual characters I have had and how they've changed over time.
I hate to be the bringer of bad news... but Willpower sucks!!! you're better off rolling a regen

Wouldn't an easier way to do all that to do a build in Mids and save two copies? Then you can just remove IOs from the 2nd one as you buy and slot them? You know you are done when it's empty? (and still have the original saved so that it's easy to see the full one).
Though you could not keep track of inf this way I guess.
I tried to keep track of stuff, especially my bidding on WW, but it was just too cumbersome LOL.

That's actually another method I'd used on the older comp, FMP. Either with mids flipping, or notepads (or both).

I don't keep track of anything for my characters. I have mids builds built for most of them which are spread out between 3 computers (so typically I end up rebuilding them instead of pulling up an old version).
I certainly don't keep track of bids on items, I think the only thing I bid on are purples, and when I get them I craft them and stick them in the base. I am a horrible marketeer most of my toons are running around with full salvage/recipes/enhancement inventories. The only time I ever clear them is before a long tf and then usually its just by deleting or selling to a store the common recipes/salvage/enhancements.
Also, just a quick glance at your builds Hamster, you sir are insane. Numina R/R in energize, aegis 6 slotted instead of a steadfast +3% def???

Probably not as detailed as whatever is on the other side of those links, but I:
* keep track of "hours to 50" for every character I do
* use Mids and keep builds for all the characters I've had / started, and usually have at least a 2nd build as a second file. Generally this is the last build I had or sometimes a future build if I get around to it
* 2 excel files for badges with multiple tabs. Thinking of combining it into 1 file since badges aren't segregated any more.
* 1 excel file listing story arcs and their merit rewards with notes regarding how long it took me to complete the arc and any hiccups/gotchas that either make or break redoing the arc again
I should get around to cataloging what all I have stored in my 2 bases. I just don't have the time for it.
I've already forgotten about most of you
that is tame and not so insane at all...
Do a search and read Steelclaw's personal character game rules (at run at work so no time to do so myself). That is truly over the top.

In answer to your question.
I don't even save Mid's builds. I'll plot one out but don't even save it. Things change to much on the fly with me.
I've got a terminal case of altitis as well, so it's not rare for me to log in a toon that hasn't been on since Issue 9, once the barrage of badge award texts ends I just go about playing.

Ok Hamster: what is up with all the pictures? Sheesh. (And there is a typo in the first one, but maybe that was the whole point...)
I have not done spreadsheets for CoX, but in my other game I have at least five that I use to track my characters, quests, objects, armor, etc, etc...
So I think technically the answer to the question: "How anal am I?" The answer is: VERY. (Of course people I know who don't play MMORPGs just think I'm insane, but what do they know?)
