Dual Pistols' Semi-Auto pistol actually has a working slide on it.

Now only if we had some pistols that weren't giant deagles!

You mean Match 15s (Laura Croft's guns from the movie) that they discontinued. Though I believe the Match Elites are reverse engineered to fit the Compensator attachment. Truly nice weapons, more of a fan of the fantasy version portrayed in Splinter Cell of the Five Seven with compensators that doubled as suppressors.

I actually like the Navy Colts', but I play cowboys. I do wish they were sized better.

My favorite part is the fact that the guns actually shoot rendered bullets, it's not just a pew pew and flash effect. Someone in Beta had pics of one of the bullets exiting the barrel.

I actually have no idea what "match compensators" are. I tried googling it but only found pages talking about this game. But I like the bulky look of those guns.

Short version: Muzzle breaks, referred to as compensators in competition shooting, are attachments onto the end of a weapon barrel that are designed to redirect some of the expanding gases from the propellant charge, reducing recoil and barrel climb during rapid fire.

See also muzzle break on Wikipedia.

Yup, see Kant's post.

The Match 15 is arrogantly nicknamed Laura Croft pistols:

There's a bit of controversy on the use of actual muzzle breaks on guns, but as Kant pointed out it's primarily used for target practice sports where that little bit of recoil reduction can make all the difference.

There are two kinds of "match compensator".

One is the exhaust/muzzle brake type. This type works by redirecting the gases driving the bullet, after the bullet leaves the barrel, thus counteracting the natural tendency of the firearm to flip upwards due to the barrel of the firearm being offset from the support of the hand.

The other type is simply a weight under the barrel, at the muzzle of the firearm. Again, more weight and a changed center of balance counteracts the tendency of the muzzle to rise.

Sometimes they're combined as a particularly weighty version of the muzzle brake, like in the picture.
