I'm not much of a poster, I'm more of a lurker. This time though...

I... I have a really hard time deleting alts. It's for silly things too. For instance, my dark/dark scrapper is the only one in her SG with the rank of "Pet-shark<^=>". I'll never play her again because I don't like the concept, but why would I want to lose that? D:

I have this happen as well. I tend to think it's something within openGL. From what I can tell other openGL games will sometimes do this as well (Neverwinter Nights, the older Unreal games, Serious Sam, Second Life). For me it's most commonly the left mouse button even on brand new mice, though sometimes shift does it as well.

It can happen when I tab out, or sometimes just during a loading screen, but it seems to be most common when the game is running in a window and not full screen. I can confirm that it's been happening with me all the way through XP, Vista, and 7, so I'm not sure it's specific to an OS. And I've gone through several different keyboards and mice, both USB and PS/2, and both types have had this happen on and off.

I've never been able to fix it, but the common thread (at least with me) seems to be with openGL games. Particularly when they're at high cycles, like when the graphics are turned up. I tend to crank my graphics up as much as possible (hence the other thread involving my graphics options crashing), and the higher I go, the more likely this seems to become.

Of course it could still be a dirty keyboard! :P

The video card I bought actually came with those tools, apparently it's "factory overclocked" so they recommended keeping an eye on it.

You guys just saved me hours of ram testing! Well, tonight anyway. I'm still suspicious due to OTHER bugs, but apparently that wasn't the culprit here. You guys are awesome!

Wanted to add before I leave, I can PLAY. It'll let me load in, get on a character, do missions, no problem at all. The problem is I can't change SETTINGS, and only in CoX. It's really strange.

EDIT: Freeing up space may be a trick in itself. The games drive partition (D) is easy to do. C partition is the windows drive with the user accounts on it, deleting a crapload of documents probably STILL wouldn't get it above 25gb. And the F drive (separate HD) is my backup drive (with the pagefile on it), so it's full of things I'd greatly prefer to keep if at all possible.

Alright, let's see if I can get everything listed. I won't be able to respond back till I get home from work, but any insight would be appreciated!

I'm not sure if this is video card related, RAM related, or hard-drive related. Long story short, if I try to edit anything graphics-related to CoH, it freezes. Dead process, ram hits a dead lock on the number it's using at the moment, page faults go up at about 4 per second (so it must be trying to access something). When I say "graphics-related", it's literally everything. Resizing the window, freeze. Maximizing it, freeze. Going into the In-Game options and going to the Graphical Settings tab, freeze. It USED to be freeze if I simply tried to edit a setting on said tab, but now it won't even let me SEE it without locking up. I've had to use TweakCoH to edit my graphics settings since this has been happening. It also won't remove itself (see Firefox note below) from the process list when I close it, and the window sits open unresponsive.

CoH runs raised in administrator mode. I've tried using compatibility settings, no change. Disabling visual themes, desktop composition, no change. I've reinstalled it from scratch, nothing. Manually deleted the registry entries where it stores the install and config information and reinstalled, no change.

-- I use Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit.
-- I recently (within the last couple of months) upgraded my ram to a couple of new sticks, and have been seeing strange issues related to memory use with programs like Firefox since. I know Firefox always does this, but now it seems to hang on closing, the process sitting at 50% use instead of disappearing. I plan on running MemTest tonight after work, to inspect my ram.
-- I also recently upgraded my video card to a Geforce GTX260, and the nVidia site says my drivers are recent. Not sure it's the problem, but putting it here anyway.
-- My game runs on my primary harddrive, which is probably about 6 or 7 years old. SG mates seem to think that this may be the cause of the problems, but I have my doubts because:
-- No other game seems to have this problem. Only CoH is freezing. I'm wondering if it could also be related to GR, seeing as I upgraded specifically to be able to use some of the Ultra settings (and proceeded to turn them off later, while my options were still working anyway)

And the funny part is, it seemed to be following my Phantasm. So it would lag slightly behind me, and my Phantasm would go off fighting. I'd take off, and it'd only move once he did. It was pretty funny. It's like we had a dog or something.

EDIT: Oh, and the 10th image doesn't show just the ship. I took that to show how the ship was in one position, but the "waves" in front of it were pointed in a completely different position XD Defying physics too apparently. And in that last one, it seems to be defying physics again, attempting to fly and follow us XD

Alissa's head was down, quiet noises coming from her. On closer inspection it was apparent she was snoring. Her changes hadn't backtracked much, but being asleep meant that they could inspect the glowie and see if it was malfunctioning, as well as better tuning it to her biology. It had prevented a full transformation, and obviously the change was difficult for her since she had to change in small amounts, but keeping track of her was an ongoing job. She always seemed to be able to bend the rules.

((I'm having a hard time trying to describe that XD It's part of her biology to be able to change, but at the same time it's supernatural and should be supressed. Hopefully I found a good medium o.o In any case she's asleep, and Halo, if you want, you can mod her for a bit :P Not like she'll do anything on her own anyway.))

Kain continued to fill glasses, which Anjee grabbed and passed around between tables. To see the two of them work was a thing of beauty, they seemed to know what each other was thinking. Kain poured the different drinks for Anjee without a word spoke between them, and Anjee seemed to just about ignore him save for a nod and a smile between chatting up various customers.

Anjee smirked at Razi working her magic, and spoke up about the cage. "Ye nu, we tart aboyt de monkeys, but said naw." She seemed to slide up beside Jake, eying his little toothpick creation. "Oi apologize 'un, waat ye order? 'Tis been so jammers, it slipped me mind." She gave him a winning smile, empty mugs clinking in her hands.

Alissa turned and swiped, poorly, at Kia again. She missed horridly due to her lowered speed. When Kia began to be coated with ice Alissa glances around, trying to find the source. She pinpointed it on Hali and began to advance on her just as the green glow hit. That only angered her and she snarled, just in time for a few tranq darts to hit her from the security team. She dropped to her knees.

"What are we doing with her?"
"Leave her."
"Sir?"
"This is a special occasion. Keep her drugged and post guards. We have more than one reason to be here anyway."
"Yes sir."

One guard came forward and jabbed a needle into Alissa's arm, resulting in a complaining growl. He injected the sedative and yanked the needle out. Alissa started to her feet, weaving every so often, then collapsed back into a chair.

"Got it! De copper-vesuvius may take a bit dare though, 'un." With that Anjee gave the elven woman a smile and took off for the front counter, dropping off the various drinks along the way. This included a rather shocking, no pun intended, blue liquid energy drink for the newcomer Player-1. "Dat shud do ye!"

Razi finally met her target and attempted to shover her head under Jessica's arm. She was trying to pull the cute puppy approach, which she just couldn't -quite- pull off with her size.

Kain laughed at Razi, rubbing out another glass. He set it down and started filling up two mugs, one with root beer and the other with Pepsi. He cast a wink over to Blind and switched the mugs, giving Experiment 2.0 the root beer and Blind Messenger his Pepsi. At Ghoul's remark he chuckled. "More than ye' know. That's why we put dat cage in the corner."

Anjee stopped at the table, smiling brightly. "Oi'm sorry miss? Oi don't tink oi caught dat."

Razi slunk down, going into sneak mode. Not that it mattered, it's not like anyone could possibly miss her.

Alissa snarled and reached out for Kia. It would become apparent if the fight went on for any length of time that while Alissa isn't the fastest fighter, she's pretty strong and can take quite a beating. Her lengthened ears twitched at the yelling but she took no notice, all of her attention now focused on the girl in front of her. Her transformation hadn't gone very far, but it was still enough to cause quite a hassle.

The security squad began to advance, checking their various tools to make sure they were in proper working order.

Jaime turned her attention to the wolf girl causing a ruckus.

((Holy moly o.o I get busy for a day or two and come back to this? You people are nuts! YAY! Crazy people! As for "appearances can be deceiving", yeah, Razi is like that :P Most Farams would think nothing of ripping you to pieces, all she wants to do is sit on your lap &lt;.&lt)

Razi looked around the room with a yawn, then started over towards the people sitting at the bar. For being such a large beast she was rather quiet and graceful, padding nearly silently towards them.

Kain handed out more drinks, making refills and setting out seconds and thirds for those who didn't need them quiet yet but probably would soon. He took a collection of dirty mugs from Anjee and set them in the sink, taking more from a shelf under the bar and filling them with various drinks. These were handed back to Anjee, who took off on her rounds again with a smile.

Kain dropped a mug of Pale Ale and a tall glass of some clear liquid respectively in front of the two newcomers. He grinned. "Enjoy fellas." He pulled the money off the counter, just as Anjee waved to the newcomers.

"Looks loike we 'av sum new faces! Ye nu waat, oi tink de puppy shud com oyt ter play!"

With that she walked through a door into the back, and a clank was heard. What followed was a crash, a yell, and the doors slamming open as a rather large dog-like beast burst through them. It slid to a halt on the slippery floor, head snapping around. It was just over 6 foot high at the shoulder, rather long, and looking overall like something they'd otherwise be fighting, if this weren't a bar. It's fur was thick, a rusty-like reddish brown, with bright blood red eyes and long dripping fangs.

"Razi, git back 'ere!!"

Anjee came rushing out of the back, slowing down to a walk once she realized the beast wasn't causing any trouble. Anjee reached up and scratched the beast's ears, who lowered her head for easier access.

"Don't be shy! She won't bite... unless ye want 'er ter!"

Anjee grinned and moved off, gathering orders and refills.

((Razi is a Faram, a creation by Reilaine, also known as Bananapaws. Unlike most Farams, Razi is like a large dog, whereas most of them are violent, even psychotic. She's a definite oddity. Also, thought I'd mention that females have human-like breasts, however Razi is fluffy enough that they can't be seen, they're hidden under a tuft of fur. Just treat her like one of the werewolf war wolf thingies o.o

Personality: Since birth, she's been an oddity, as considering her genetics she should be violent, possibly psychotic. In fact she tries to act cute, she's cuddly, and just begs for attention. She isn't the biggest fan of talking in english. It isn't that she doesn't know how, she just tends to act more like a big dog than the typical Faram. If it wasn't for that fact that she's too big, she'd be a lap dog. Not that this stops her from trying. Under usual circumstances this would make her bait. However, she is a brutal fighter, and smart enough to know that the fights aren't just about the kill. She tries to extend the fight as long as possible to entertain the viewers, landing blows to less vital areas at first. She knows that the happier the people around her are, the happier she'll end up being. She's an incredible fighter, that if nothing else being passed down through her genes. If not for the reputation of her species, she would probably make an excellent pet.

Appearance: She's a bit smaller than the typical faram, but just as bulky. Her fur is speckled reddish-brown, darker colored on the tips of her ears, her hand and feet, and the end of her tail. Her eyes are a bright red, and combined with the typical build of a faram, she gives off a sinister vibe that doesn't at all fit her personality. She's living proof that appearances aren't everything. Her solid black claws are larger than normal, and her coat of fur is a little thicker than most Farams. Her personality closer to that of a big dog, when she's happy she can be seen panting, a long black tongue hanging from her mouth. Her chest is covered by thick fur, and can't be seen.))

Jaime shoved a piece of cake into her mouth, getting chocolate frosting all over her face. The smile she was giving was one so cute, so sweet, that it would probably cause a cavity.

Alissa snarled and sweeped an arm, which smashed into one of the arm chairs beside her and tossed it across the room. She crouched, her eyes locking with the girl. "Watch whatchya say, little girl..."

The security force had begun to unhook different tools and weapons from their belt, preparing for the worst. It was odd that any powers could manifest at all, considering how effective the glowies are, but they weren't there to question.
