Storage of Tips increased from 3 to 5
Why bother? On the couple of occasions I went running tip missions, I had a replacement tip or two drop for me from the mobs inside the mission. It's not as though they're in short supply.

Thank you Zortel...
I did not made an observation on drop rates, it appears to be quite random. There are days I look at a mob and I am getting a tip, and others I have nearly wiped the entire criminal population of Brickstown with out receiving a single drop. So I can agree that the so called randomness should be re-looked at, perhaps have a fail safe number of mobs that guarantee the tip, kinda like our to hit dice rolls which guarantees a hit after 4 tries. What the number of defeats should be to get a tip, I'm not sure, but perhaps I would venture 20 mobs based on that is the standard number used for regular hunts.
With regards to the bag of 5 tip storage, its a convenience, for often where you go do the tips and where you go collect them are usually a different location. For instance in the "go-in" time, I go to Independence Port, because it has large numbers of clusters of mobs, thus you can aoe yourself to the 3 TIPs faster than doing singles or couples. But you got to be out of your mind trying to do TIP missions in large, rectangular maps such as Independence Port, Skyway, Steel Canyon or Talos where mission entrance location can be most assuradley ridiculously far. In my case, I use Brickstown, a nice compact map, where I can hit mobs in between tips with the hope to get the next 2 tips I need for my set of 5 for the day.
With regardds to getting tips while doing a tip, it has happened to me, but its a very rare event and not one as common as a poster made it out to be.

Why not be able to store all 10 tips? and do the 5 a day you can, knowing you got next day's 5 in line?
Smokefire
Go to Dark Astoria. You can't turn IN the tips there, but (a) large mobs = fast tips, and (b) when you do turn them in, it seems they go in the zone you're in at the time more often than not. (For instance, I hopped into Atlas on my 50 tank to pay SG rent, realized I hadn't actually called in my tips, did so - and all three are in Atlas.)
The thinking fo rmy suggestion, be able to store all 10, goes more along the ability to gain and store tips as you actually do the tips. If you are doing a tip mission, and have 2 more on queue. At this time, you can not get more tips due to developer set limit of 3. I am asking to have such a limited expanded to 10. So maybe as I start my tip sequence, and doing the very first one, I may get so lucky from killing them all to get all other 9 tips! Frankly I would be happy to be able to collect up front all 5 tips of the day, in one pass.

(In other words my mid-20s Broadsword/Fire scrapper likes having the place to himself thank you Slicing Zombies up is indeed a great way to quickly garner tips and earn some non-trash Salvage in the process ).
Eh, not seeing much value in this. It appears as a QoL for rushing it (aka got to have these all now because I can't be bothered to play the game and just get more), but this game is more than just Tip missions. Play the game - run some paper missions, an arc or S/TF/Trial. And they will drop.
Just how much is going on here for tips too? Okay, you get them, switch alignment, then what? You going back and forth all week long? I see this as more clutter where 3 tips are fine.
This is terrible advice. Dark Astoria is a dreadful place to hunt tips and it isn't fun at all hacking zombies up for them, honest guv. Especially since they drop worthless Magical Salvage which as we all know is completely useless and no-one wants it.

I usually hunt IP, plenty of large cluster of groups to attack and easy to get to. Still there are times that I have gone decimating hundreds of victims, err mobs, and received no tips; of course there are days where I fart and get 2 tips... Like Stormy, where I hunt for tips and where I do the tips are usually different places, after she mentioned the map bit, I stopped killing and doing them in IP, and found the brainless travel to be much less in Atlas. So I would prefer to get my 5 tips, do them all in Atlas (were I can stop at the market an unload the goodies as I make them) and then return to IP to get my morality mission tip.
Smokem if you got them
To begin with once I have gotten my first Tip of the day I have never had any problem getting 4 more Tips as I run through the daily 5 so from that point of view being able to store up more Tips seems unnecessary.
But to step back I will offer my experience with finding those "first Tips of the day" to begin with. It has never taken me more than about 5 minutes from the time I start looking for Tips until the time I get one. I have "hunted" for new tips like this at least 20 times that I can think of so far. The key for getting them quickly seems to be street sweeping the highest level bosses you can handle. Based on my experience it never takes more than maybe 2 or 3 +1/+2 bosses to drop a Tip for me.
Perhaps instead of this suggestion people should just be made aware that the easiest way to get 5 Tips for the day is to start off fighting the biggest guys you can find.

Has more to do with rank and less to do with level. From my experiences, I only ever run into dry spots when I can't find many bosses to kill, and I reliably hunt things that are >10 levels below me. Even then, my longest dry run was 20minutes.

I'm just going to continue to do what seems to be working for me regardless.
I wish others better luck with this. *shrugs*

Mmm
Now that may be a very important revelation, I was lead to believe that the class of mob killed had no significance in the cnace of getting a tip. Am I interpreting the above posts correctly, in that they are saying that LTs have better chance to drop a tip than minions, and bosses over Lts, etc?
Logically that would make a lot of sense, but as I said before, I thought the coding was set to a fixed percentage change regardless of the nature of the mob.

But in the absence of that kind of specific info and all things being equal I made the basic assumption that "bosses = better" as far as this thing goes. They have a better chance of dropping better recipes and salvage so the logic seemed pretty sound to me that they'd be better for Tips too. It even makes sense from a RP point of view - a boss is more likely to know something useful than a minion.
All I can say is that my experience with this seems to support the assumption in this case. YMMV.

If you're having problems with getting tips. Fight even level or higher bosses. The drop rate is about 75% for me. Grey bosses work too, but even level + is like magic. I spend no more than 5 minutes in a hazard zone before I'm off actually doing the tips.
The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

Indeed you folks were right about bosses and tips...
I needed to kill fake nemesis for the badge, so I went to PI and harvested Fakes for the tips, and I mean harvested, I only killed fakes, giggles...
By the time I killed about 5 or 7 of them, I had all 3 tips in the bag...

But, I want it for different reason. I am picky as which tip missions to run, and dismissing right away tips like "Carnie Debutants", "Unstable Trigger", any tip mission that is specific zone bound (like 2 arachnos missions that are only in IP) or Nemesis mission that often sends you to Creys or Bricks. On another hand I like to do both DE missions, "Save Black Panther 952", Polar Shift, etc.
More than 3 will give me more options to choose from.

I believe that there are two limitations on Tip storage:
1) You cannot have more than three unrun Tips at any given time.
2) You cannot gain more Tips than the number of unfilled slots you have left.
Thus, increasing the number of stored Tips from 3 to 5 would not enable you to run a new Tip the next day without farming 20+ foes. The only way to store a Tip is to only run 4 for that day, and leave the remaining tip you have left for your next session. Or, run someone else's Tip.
If anyone has ever had a Tip mission drop after they've filled their 5 slots for the day, I'd like to hear about that. I'm not 100% sure, and would like to see evidence otherwise. However, in my experience I have only had Tips left over while I was teaming.

Ironically I didn't bother to see if I could run it instantly (effectively running a 6th Tip for the day?) because I wanted to stay that current alignment long enough to earn the badge for staying a given alignment for a solid 7 days first. I don't know if that was a fluke or if it was working as intended because it was the morality Tip mission and not just a "standard" Tip mission. Either way the game did let me earn a total of 6 Tips in one day (even if I didn't try to run them all in that one day).

I find two aspects of tips to be annoying.
The first is the max of 3 or remaining open fame spots. I understand not getting more tips than you can use up to a point but it is such an artificial limitation and I enjoy the tip missions.
The second is the 5/day of the 10 slots. I would find it far less annoying if we could get one more than half per day. So if 10 slots, able to get up to 6 or reduce the slots from 10 to 8 and leave it at 5/day. It would still take at least 2 days but would alleive some of the urgency you can feel about getting them.
total kick to the gut
This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.
Hi:
usually when I go in an alignment run, I try to get as many tips I can, before I actually do the tips themselves. While I have no issue with the 5 Tips doable per day, I have an issue that one can not store no more than 3 tips at any time. I can understand, that if you allready had done, say 3 tips that day, that you should be limited to gain 2 new tips so you can get the 5 a day. But when you done none, why not let me harvest 5 tips?
