Who Are Your Favorite Teammates?

My Dark Servant.

But honestly, it depends on what toon I'm on, and what we're doing. Something that can complement me and the others, usually. Cold or FF for defense buffs, Kins for damage/recharge, anything that makes things more fun.

I'm more than happy to play with 'bad' players, too. Quite often it'll make me work harder and make things a bit more challenging.

SoA as long as they take Maneuver. I like SoA because you just need to stick together and fight and you don't really need to ask for healing or buffs.

What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.

Purely going by AT/sets? A well played Kinetic Corruptor, shortly followed by a well played Brute with some kind of damage aura so they hold all the aggro. As a Blaster player, I tend to enjoy those who I can blast with but will also support or can keep the aggro AND keep up with me for damage, I've just found I mesh best with Kinetic Corruptors or a Brute I can hide behind.

In terms of players? Someone that'll actually talk, to have a good natter with. I don't care if we've faceplanted 5 times in a row against an angry Rikti Monkey (Note: never happened, honest), we've got a good conversation going and that's entertaining enough.

I am the Blaster, I have filled the role of Tank, Controller and Defender
Sometimes all at once.
Union EU player! Pip pip, tally ho, top hats and tea etc etc

Besides the usual cliche of "anyone who plays their toon well"...

I appreciate a good AE-damage toon more than anything else. Between the various melee, support and control toons, the defense is usually covered. What my pickup groups are usually lacking in is killing speed; everyone who goes DPS seems to be going with single-target sets these days. A good fire blaster makes missions go by twice as fast.

I like seeing stalkers on the team (runs away and hides in an RWZ bunker)

Too bad most people don't think like you.

It took me 16 inquiries to get a stalker on a TF last night.

16rejections.*

Face it the "I WILL PLAY WITH ANYONE WHO KNOWS HOW TO PLAY" Sect is a superminority in this game, and honestly you mislead people with it.

The reality is that a majority of the playerbase will not team with or consider a team with a stalker.

Period.

Test, this stalker nonsense is getting tiresome. You were all over the boards proclaiming how hard it would be to get Incarnate on a stalker too. I got my tier 1 alpha on my Ninja Blade stalker within a few hours of logging into i19 for the first time. According to you I should not only not be able to get a TF team but probably get kicked for not having the AoE "everybody" cares about.

Give it a rest already. Or leave Freedom. I've certainly not had these problems on Virtue.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not as popular on my stalker as on my Dark corruptor. I definitely get more unsolicited team invites on that corr. Point is though, you're exaggering when you claim most people will absolutely not team with a stalker. At least this is not true on all servers. Maybe it IS true on Freedom. You got me there. I don't play on Freedom.

I DO agree there are some idealistic viewpoints here that are indeed in the minority. The truth is that most PuG teams do care about team composition... but only to a point. Many will want to fill a couple roles like tanker/brute and one or two supporty types but few are as picky as to specifically exclude certain ATs. At least not in normal PvE gameplay like TFs and mission teams. Don't know about farm teams. Don't care.

On topic and misty-eyed idealism aside... a Kinetic corr or defender. Well-played of course. While it is always great to have good teammates of any kind, I have to be honest here. No one else I've seen can take a team and "turn them up to eleven" like a good Kin. Speed Boost and Fulcrum Shift are just *that* overp.... er... good. Particularly since I like playing lethal damage toons (guns and blades, what can I say?), Fulcrum Shift takes that annoyingly bad bit of game design known as lethal damage resistance and makes it largely irrelevant.

SoA's. i use my Bane a lot and run double Assault and Maneuvers. it's cool to have the added def. plus VG stacks well.

Next would be a Kin Corr. it's amazing when i have my damage capped and hit the mob with a crit from crowd control or shatter.

in terms of players, i like playing with mature players. nothing ticks me off more than someone cursing up a storm or speaking on rated X content. i hate to listen to 2 players constantly bicker back in forth.

Hmmm, As I primarily play with my TA/A, I generally enjoy teaming with other competent Trick Arrow users. I'm also a fan of teaming with any brute, who can put a hurting on the baddies as well as keep me protected a bit even though it really isn't in his job description.

All in all though, any player that knows how to use their toon properly in a team setting is good to play with.

Look I got my initial slots on my two stalkers too, but its a battle in frustration. Heck if not for Repeat Offenders, I don't think i would even have that.

It gets old asking leader after leader to join, crossing your fingers he/she is one of the "enlightned" people that are said to be in such high concentrations in City of Heroes on the forums.

The enlightened view is a minority one, that is the point.

No amount of people saying here that they will team with any compentent player will change the fact that choosing a Stalker as your AT means, less teaming, a harder time joining TFs and less ability to enjoy the incarnate system.

Heck I couldn't even get people to join an APEX team i was forming lastnight because they would join the team, see I was a stalker and quit. (I think in the future I will form the team using my Defender, then at the last minute switch to my stalker).

I wish I was exaggerating. And honestly I am beginng to think it is JUST Freedom that is like this. Cesspool of a server, as soon as they offer free transfers again I am going to Virtue.

Yeah, I play on Virtue, and I've simply never seen that. I see stalkers on teams sometime. I've never seen anyone suggest or hint that stalkers are a problem, or that there is a downside to having a stalker on a team. Typically, stalkers eliminate nuisance enemies (PPD Equalizers, for instance) early in every spawn, and that makes life good.

If Helpy McHelperson can get a team, anyone on Virtue can. !

I think it must be, I play on Virtue and ever seeing anyone complain about having a Stalker on the team. Heck, I've seen people complain about a team having "to many defenders/controllers" but never Stalkers.

... too... many... defenders?

... Huh?

I am not sure whether it is "too many defenders" or "too many controllers" that I find harder to comprehend. That's like "too much garlic".

Any Defender, Controller, Corruptor or Dominator.

I build for self-sufficiency (thought I rarely solo). So, whenever one of those toons are on the team, my characters become even more fun/powerful.

Holds, debuffs, buffs, AoE goodness......Mmmmmmm

As far as Stalkers go, I follow the age-old philosophy: The AT is secondary to how well it is played.

Yeah, I know and yet I've had it happen to me on multiple occasions, I'll get a nice Defender/Controller heavy team and then someone declares that we need more damage.

You know, I've seen people saying they need damage, I never understood why. If you have a team which is "short of damage", that's because it's heavy on things that are adequate replacements, such as control or tankers. Meaning it might be a little slower, but it'll be easy, and if you have a lot of defenders or controllers, it may actually be very fast.

Good Kins and good Colds.

I learned a lesson from our SG member Khai and Tavy...

Defenders, Controller and Corruptors well played of ANY type will make a team steamroll.

The hard things I can do--- The impossible just take a little bit longer.

If numbers are so much more important than a teammate who is fun to play with, forget about the game altogether and go play with a calculator instead. -Claws and Effect-

Virtue must be a better server for stalkers. I've actually been on tf's with 3 stalkers before.

And before you laugh, it's actually pretty nice. Any problem mobs tend to vaporize after 3 Assassin Strikes.

Oh, and my kat/wp scrapper loves everyone. Seriously, any power combo in my book is great. Well, maybe not energy blast, but honestly, even constant KB doesn't bother me much.

I like teaming with people who don't whine. If they stink as a player, I don't really care. If they just wander around with the team healing people who still have their full hp, I honestly would probably never even notice. But if they start talking about how other people stink, or the team stinks... that annoys me.

I gotta make pain. I gotta make things right. I gotta stop what's comin'. 'Least I gotta try.

I've done two ITFs and one Moonfire TF with an entire pick-up team of eight stalkers. Not the easiest way to do a TF but it sure is a lot of fun.
