My work schedule is pretty hectic as My only days off are soon to be Wed/Fri and I don't have a set schedule(Gotta love retail). I recently respec'd out of fly(ss/sj now.) since it's apparently a major issue. I'd be grateful to any team willing to have me. -
Sup everyone, thanks for having me. I will do my best!

Trick Arrow. Since 2008 I've had every Trick arrow/ - /Trick Arrow combination. It's hands down my favorite power set. Be it PvE, or PvP I can't help making something with the almighty Trick Arrow!
-
Hmmm, As I primarily play with my TA/A, I generally enjoy teaming with other competent Trick Arrow users. I'm also a fan of teaming with any brute, who can put a hurting on the baddies as well as keep me protected a bit even though it really isn't in his job description.
All in all though, any player that knows how to use their toon properly in a team setting is good to play with. -
I've played the same toon for about 2 years straight my TA/A. Most have already covered it, but it is indeed the jack of all trades and a master of none. I primarily use it for PvP, but when in PvE I have tons of fun. I'm able to solo with no issues other than being a bit slower than the rest. I personally enjoy using strategy as opposed to just being able to steamroll.
-
Sup Folks. Took a bit of a break, but i'm back now! Seeing how i19 has dropped I wanted to know what effect the incarnate slot is having on pvp thus far, and if there were any type of changes made to pvp itself.
Oh, and no worries, I'll be back in the zones getting my "plink plink plink" on as soon as I respec. =P -
Trick Arrow is excellent in pvp, but pairing it with AR in PvP would be a death sentence. Most of ARs' decent powers have horrible cast times, and would leave her rooted for far too long, which is a No-No for those who wish to have less frequent trips to the hospital. Travel suppression would also wreck her beyond belief. Not to mention the annoying redraw of arrow to rifle and vice versa. I'd leave that paring to PvE.
For PvP, If a TA defender is preferred, TA/A, TA/Sonic, TA/NRG(Power push sets up for tasty spikes on well coordinated teams), I'd even go as far to say TA/Ice blast.
*Edit*
Read too fast, apparently she wasn't looking for a TA/AR hehe, to redirect, AR Stinks in pvp, Trick Arrow is much better as far being the team enabler and the enemy dis-abler. -
Are these builds primarily for PvE, or PvP? If it's for PvP, I have a few builds that may help you, or I can post my build. TA/A that is.
-
My TA/A will be picking up Hasten/SS/(Invisibility, for lotg) as I really only pvp. Having glue arrow up every 19 secs/poison every 18 secs, and disruption every 21 secs. Not to mention some other things. =) Good stuff.
-
Fly is indeed still the slowest travel power, and doesn't work for everyone. I very rarely see any melee users with Fly, other than AzA. I've been using fly for a loooooong time. Wouldn't swap it out for the world. However with the new fitness inherent coming, I'll be adding SS. =)

I'm down to join if someone doesn't show up.
Artifice Arrow, Trick Arrow/Archery. -
Quote:It's a great disruption toon, love the combo, but seems substandard in the dmg department. Maybe I'll start using some of the new temps for xtra dmg.
One of the things I find annoying with it is all the dmg that Phantom army does doesn't always benefit you if you're traveling. It's too bad that pets can't keep up with fast paced PVP.
Looks like I need to think up a few strategies since I dumped a bucket load of inf on this toon.
Being a TA, you really shouldn't focus on the dmg tbh. You are your teams team enabler, and opposition dis-abler. As the TA, you will be key in spikes on well coordinated teams, as far as rooting foes, and debuffing. -
Slot the placate Proc in Blind. Faster Recharge, and much more reliable than PGA.
As far as your power pools, good choices. Seeing that you have the option of choosing Ice mastery, Hibernate is well worth it, but careful now sometimes it just delays the inevitable.
Holds in pvp are pretty lack luster, with the exception of a few so I'd suggest slotting for dmg in your ST hold.
Spectral Terror/Oil Slick/Disruption Arrow, are all excellent tools for suppressing silly stalker hide, but keep in mind it won't stop you from being AS'd/Sharked in general, it will just give you the ability to react accordingly once you know they are there, which is where most people tend to panic.
Some stalks tend to leap before they look, so they'll run right into disruption arrow, and just turn right around, same with the other powers. Pretty funny to watch.
*Edit*
If you'd like I can PM you one of my sample builds just to give you an overall idea of what you might be wanting to aim for. -
Quote:You play a TA. It's not very hard to be part of a team when the only thing you realistically contibute is glue+acid. They are good powers that turn many people into easy kills for your team. But they're not rocket science. The only skill in TA comes in not getting farmed, and that's why you probably prefer the safer fly. It makes sense.
But try playing a flying buffer or someone that actually has to engage in combat for more than 2 powers. It's a different story.
If all I did was Glue and Acid, I'd be pretty bored, and I'd be selling the powers that i'm "not using" short. ^_^ I think You've probably played with some pretty bad TA's, that left a lousy impression on you, if you think that 2 powers are all we contribute to the team.
We should team sometime in RV. -
As far as fly is concerned, I know SS/SJ>Fly, without a doubt it does, but it's something that works for me, Arena or Zone. Keep in mind I do have an SS/SJ build (thanks to dual builds!), and I love speeding along and being able to leap tall buildings. Fly is still my shiz though.
Edit*
(Forgot to quote so i'm doing it the bootleg way!)
"Teaming works really well only with other fliers, which means teaming with noobs for the most part."
I disagree. I lead many, many teams in RV, and 95% of the time I'm the only flier on the team. I can assure you that the majority of my teams are successful, and that's with pure coordination and pre-empting the team and how things will be done. -
Hm. I've used Fly since issue i12, and I was constantly told how "bad" it was as a travel power. So I'll shed some light on my experience with Hover/fly.
Fly -
Pros: As someone said in a previous post, you get a Birdseye view of the entire field. With fly, I'm able to see my "threats" before they're able to see me. With being said, I can, and will almost always get the drop on someone from above. For those who like to duck and dodge between buildings, than can do it all they want, I'm right above the building waiting for them to come out.
Safety - Contrary to what people believe, Fly is SAFER than SS/SJ to a certain extent. With fly, you don't have to be on guard as much while not engaging someone in a fight. SS/SJ'ers need to constantly move like they're jacked up on caffeine as to not be wrecked by a stalker. (Keep in mine I'm not saying that you can't be wrecked by a stalker with fly, those who know how to use fly will be generally safer.)
Escapes - With fly you can escape to places that a few others can't get to, with the exception of those who use the jet pack. If you yourself have a -fly like I do, it's not a problem to deal with, fall damage is nice to have on your side.
KB - I originally took fly because being kb'd in the air isn't as serious as it is being kb'd on the ground. I'll take a small back-flip animation in the air over being knocked on my back, or stacking my toon with a ton of KB protection IOs taking away from other things that can be used. I currently have 15 kb protection, recently dropped from 19.
Cons - Mobility - When you take fly, you make sacrifices. While you are able to access any area of the zone, you are limited to how fast you can get there, and while engaged in a fight movement suppression may seem like an Achilles heal. Also assisting allies may be difficult especially on pugs if they are far away getting pounded on. Fly is SLOW, even when capped out it's still the slowest travel power in the game.
Webnades/other -fly powers - The real Achilles heel of fly. If you aren't careful, you'll be perma webnaded. Using fly you need to pick your battles wisely, Identify those who have webnade, and get the drop on you before the reverse happens. If fly is your ONLY travel power, and you aren't experienced in using it, chances are you'll get crushed if grounded. Webnade doesn't initially mean death, it's what you do after being grounded. Personally when I'm grounded I have a few "Tricks" to get out of the sticky situations.
Hover -
Pros - Good lord! -Fly Protection! While it may not be that high, hover does get -fly protection which will prevent you from being dropped by certain -fly attacks. However there are some powers that just make you drop from the sky, hover or not.(Webnade!)
Air Control - With hover you have more control over your movement as opposed to fly. Meaning you move exactly where you want to go, no more no extra.
Con - Hover is SLOW. You aren't going anywhere, anytime soon. Especially with movement suppression, you might as well stay where you are. However, there is a way around it. The Jump-pack. When you put the jump pack on your flight speed is greatly increased, and because you have hover your control is excellent. This lasts about 30 secs, which is enough to to either escape, or continue engaging.
Now with that being said, let's not forget about the other baddies/do gooders that fly. I personally don't have Air Superiority, as I have entangle arrow. For those who don't Try it out.
I get a lot of flack for using fly, but I can hold it down out there. -
What are your in-game Globals?: @Artifice Arrow
What are your PvP characters?: TA/A Defender, Thugs/TA Mastermind
Which of these characters are on Freedom? (This may not be too important at first, if the ladder starts on Test): Both
Are you willing to respec into a better PvP build?: If I like it, sure. Dual builds ftw.
Are you willing to roll a new character if needed?: If it's Trick Arrow related, of course.
Do you have a mic?: I'll get one.
What is your general day/time availability?: Generally free on the weekends, weekdays after 9 p.m. est
Briefly describe your PvP experience: Eh, I lurk in RV mostly, pre-i13 I used to arena frequently, until they killed pvp. Used to pvp on test as well with, Total Evil PvP. Quite a few know me, quite a few don't. Just got back to coh about 2 months ago, and I'm ready to "trow arrows" -
-
Hmmm, can't say that I've ever PvP'd on Virtue, so I can't really pass judgement.(A server transfer for a few days should remedy that though. ^_^) When it comes to freedom though, eh, we've got some pretty beastly people when it comes to Arena/Zone.
I'd suggest a Freedom v.s. Virtue event? Sounds tasty to me.
