The villain name for this badge will be in conflict with Socialite (Accolade) when it comes to the badge tracking sites. Just a FYI.

Thought as much, when I first saw that badge name... (urk).

Will be fun seeing the complete list, and how you deal with the Praetorian/Hero, Praetorian/villain bit, as well as the Hero/Villain badges.

Can only imagine the frustration/job it is on the webpage (Adding badges, alternate names etc) after updating my little excel sheet.
(primitive, not in the league as the master badge list)

But since these badges have been otherwise artwork-less for like 3 years now it's not really that big a deal.
It's art they had lying around. Those were originally the art for the mysterious "Spectral" and "Corsair" event badges that have gone unused for a very long time.
That makes this situation that much more silly. I suppose the Devs could have argued it took them this long to fix the artwork on these badges because they could just never spare the "development time" *cough, cough* it would have taken to slip them in. But to hear that after years of being overlooked that all they ended up doing was dusting off some leftover badge artwork and plugging it in is almost priceless.

I'm more than well aware that in the grand scheme of things this was a relatively trivial and unimportant issue.
But still the fact that it took our Devs like 3+ years to do maybe 10 seconds of work just makes me lol.

Well that'd be about the tenth badge in the history of this game that's had some kind of name conflict that needed to be dealt with.
Not that I'm counting or anything.

Um, Praetorian/Hero & Praetorian/Villain are one badge. They don't swap. Any Praetorian version badge do not conflict with their Hero/Villain counterparts (at least in the set_titles/database entries).

Erm, yeah. Now I remember why I was checking the set_titles.

I think there was one other in the early stages as well. Also a couple of market badges have the difference of "marketeer" vs "marketer".

I did the same thing. Standard code rant, and all that, but it struck me as a somewhat...meager token action. ...Yes, I think those words are safe from Mod12...

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

I didn't even know about the "marketeer" vs "marketer" thing.
I was thinking about other classic ones like:
  • "Power Liberator" originally being named "Liberator"
  • "Fearless" originally being named "Valorious" (which IIRC was confused with Valorous)
  • "Back From the Future" originally being named "Time Bandit"
Also IIRC there was a problem with the sequence of invention badges that now go:
Major, Lt.Colonel, Colonel, Major General, General
The order of these ranks were messed up and had to be swapped around.

There were several others like this but I'm just not remembering them at the moment.
Bottomline the Devs mistakenly reusing current badge names for other badges is hardly a new issue.

Your right. My typing was bad as I miscommunicated.
What I tried to convey was the following (as you have said).
In essence there will be for a few badge types 3 versions of the same badge: In example: Agent of Order (hero), Agent of Chaos (villain) and Agent of Praetoria (Praetorian). This is the same badge, just with different names. (And I do not think a Praetorian can ever get the Agent of Order/Chaos or loose Agent of Praetoria?)
Now due to alot of your and other testers testing of say the damage badges Snow, Praetorians gets alternate names on several of the achievements.
But in the end, the Praetorian will have to choose Hero or Villain alignment when he/she/it leaves Praetoria to go to Primal Earth.
From then on, the Praetorian (if went hero) will start getting hero badges etc, until maybe the praetorian decides, that he/she/it will leave for the isles.
Its more the process of how you track those badges that I was trying to refer to.
Since a few badges (like the Agent of...) will have different names provided the tracked character is Hero, villain or Praetorian.

I tried to envision this in my mind for my little excel sheet and it was "arrrrgh!" (followed by a little frustration then abandonment of a few ideas due to my limitations) So I'll don in the cheering of the people that will get the tracking done on badgehunters and cohtitan. "Go go.. horray"

Right. Agent of Order/Chaos will change on a Primal Earth character as they switch sides.

A praetorian, will always have Agent of Praetoria, no matter how many times that character changes alignment. It will change badge art, but that really isn't being tracked by the badge sites (and in reality doesn't need to be).

Even if a Praetorian goes to the Isles or Paragon and gets the damage badges after that point, they still only get the Praetorian versions of those badges.

I'm currently working on updating my morality guide and the set_title list, but I think that outside of those achievements, Praetorians do not have their own list of, say, defeat badges, accolades, etc.

My thought too Snow (no list of their own of defeat badges etc). *phew* thanks.
And thanks for clearing up the Agent of... question I had.

Don't know if its needed or wanted, but the reasons I had a little confusion, is due to the off-line excel sheet I have.
In it I start with the overview of 12 heroes (with a button you click and you get the same page, but designed for 12 villains).
Each category has a main page, like Exploration & history, Accomplishments etc.
The Left row and downwards, has the badge names. The horizontal row rightwards has the names of all the characters in the first page.

I did think that it would be neat to have a button on the first page with "mark it with Hero, villain or Praetorian" so that badge names on the Leftwards and down bar where changed to the Hero/villain/ eventual Praetorian names.
I discarded to put this idea on my sheet cause I like to when a badge hunt is announced in a channel, quickly click on my sheet and see which char do not have the badge. The Idea would have made it so that I would have had to go through several characters in a lot of more clicking to find one character that did not have it.
So I simply settled with putting both names in the cell or adding it to the description of the badge name.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I look forward to how the badge trackers will fix badge tracking, from start point. But maybe that is easier to do with the tools the badge trackers has instead of off-line excel?

Hope any eventual confusion I might have given will be cleared up. Thanks for the clarifications Snow.

Got a few questions about a few badge(types).
Gladiators, can every player now get every gladiator or will the either/or system be applied to them as well.
f.ex: At lvl 10 you get as a villain "Wolf spider Enforcer" as Hero you get "Nebula Elite Buckshot". If you switch sides from Hero to villain, will you now have Wolf spider instead of Nebula or will you now have both gladiators, even when you change back to hero?

The "Judge and Jury" & "Merciless" -alignment badges.
Are they mutually exclusive or is it possible to get both?

You have to switch sides to get the opposite gladiator, but you do NOT lose gladiators or badges by switching sides. A new character can eventually get all the gladiators except the 5th Column (1st & 2nd Anniversary badges).

Here's hoping they adjust the requirements on that Gladiator badge.

The worst part about the whole thing is now I have to take my main badger and turn him to the redside so that I can get all the badges on the villain side of things and then back to heroes (since he's a hero not a villain).

If they would have added certain badges that could only be obtained by staying hero (never switching sides at all) I wouldn't worry about it....

Now I (as well as others :P) have to do all Master of x badges on both sides heh...darn badge collecting habit!

Edit: And of course in i19 or i20 they'll announce a set of badges that can only be obtained if you stay true to your side and never flip-flop...just to laugh at us badgers knowing that we now couldn't get them (since I'm assuming most will swap sides to get all the badges possible)

I've already had that argument with other players. However Positron has already said no one will be permanently penalized for changing sides.

I did not see him say that (not saying he didn't just saying I didn't see it)...so that's good to hear...

Although to be devil's advocate, they have changed their minds about some badges before (Isolator/etc)...

Sorry my mind always thinks negatively! Bad brain!

I would almost consider this as a "backwards victory" for those who advocate the ideal that a single character ought to be able to earn every badge if they want to.

Consider it this way: If the Devs ever decided the only way to PREVENT people from getting all the badges was to pull a major backstab with a bunch of retroactive staying true badges then they would have realized that their quaint "badging is a journey" concept was so desperately out of touch that they were forced to do something stupid just to prove their shortsighted point. It would be a reactionary F-U to us just because they wouldn't like people playing the game the "wrong" way, whatever that is.

Fortunately I really don't see them doing that regardless of what Position has specifically said about it. Over the history of this game the Devs have generally moved towards the goal of making many previously unobtainable badges earnable again. This includes Isolator, old event badges and now Power Liberator. Heck, the entire Going Rogue Crossover system is probably the greatest example of opening up new badges to be earned. Even though they may generally prefer the "badging is a journey" playstyle the Devs have a proven track record of also making us silly badgers happy for the most part as well.

I made this list for myself, for the NEW morality-system badges, starting from being a HERO, and thought it might be helpful for someone. This does not include the various villain-side badges one could get, or the praetorian-specific badges (explores, or kills, especially)

Snow or someone can tell me what I got wrong...

*******

Step 1: Move to VIGILANTE

Day 1:

Do 5 VIGILANTE tip missions (max you can do in one day)
* Tipped Off - You received your first tip earning yourself the Tipped Off badge.
* Streetwise - You completed a Vigilante Alignment Mission earning yourself the Streetwise badge.
* Walking The Path - You strove for what you believe in and, against all odds, came out on top. You've earned the Walking the Path badge by completing your first Alignment Mission.

Help Someone Else do a VIGILANTE (preferred), ROGUE or VILLAIN Tip Mission.
* Tested The Water - You're not quick to pass judgment on others, but will step in when things stray off course. You earned this badge by helping someone complete an Alignment Mission that is not the same as your current alignment.

Hopefully one of the Tip Missions will get you:
* Judge and Jury - (Hero) You defeated one of the signature "Rogue's Gallery" characters in an Alignment or Morality mission earning yourself this badge

Not 100% sure how these are earned:
* Made A Stand - You strove for what you believe in and, against all odds, came out on top. [I think this is “use the morality system at all” badge?]
* Agent Of Order/Chaos/Praetoria (Accolade) [I think this is an “automatic” badge for your “native” state?]

This Can be Done Anytime Within This Process
* Pain Killer - You've completed the Cathedral of Pain and thwarted the Aspect of Rularuu's plans.

Finally: Need Luck, or Begging to get a mission with these two (apparently, there are several, but in lower level ranges)
* Eye of the Storm - (Defeat Maelstrom)
* Whip Cracker - (Defeat Desdemona)

Day 2:

Do 5 VIGILANTE tip missions (max you can do in one day)
Do 1 VIGILANTE Morality Mission
* Above The Law - You are the law, you dispense your own kind of justice for the greater good. You have completed a Vigilante Morality Mission earning yourself this badge.

Go To The Rogue Islands
* Grass is Greener/Grass is Meaner - (Going to the opposite faction's zones as a vigilante or rogue.)

Do an Architect Mission marked as “Vigilante”
* Walks the Line - You've earned this badge by playing an architect mission marked as vigilante content.

You Must Now Wait Seven days as a VIGILANTE
* Fearsome - You completed a Vigilante Morality Mission and then maintained your Vigilante alignment for 7 days earning yourself this badge.

Step 2: Move to VILLAIN

Day 1:

Do 5 Tip Missions as a VILLAIN
* Inquisitor - You completed a Villain Alignment Mission earning yourself the Inquisitor badge.

Day 2:

Do 5 Tip Missions as a VILLAIN
Do VILLAIN Morality Mission
* Dastardly - The mere mention of your name causes those that hear it to shiver in fear. You have completed a Villain Morality Mission earning yourself this badge.
* Descended - You have shrugged off the heavy binds of morality and selflessness and have become a Villain. You have shifted your alignment from Hero to Villain earning yourself the Descended badge.

Do an Architect Mission marked as “Villain”
* Villainous

You Must Now Wait Seven Days as a VILLAIN
* Frenzied - You completed a Villain Morality Mission and then maintained your Villain alignment for 7 days earning yourself this badge.

Step 3: Move to ROGUE

Day 1:

Do 5 Tip Missions as a ROGUE
* Well Informed - You completed a Rogue Alignment Mission earning yourself the Well Informed badge.

Day 2:

Do 5 Tip Missions as a ROGUE
Do ROGUE Morality Mission
* Scoundrel - You've got what it takes to get things done, you're not bogged down by things like morals or scruples. You have completed a Rogue Morality Mission earning yourself this badge.

Do an Architect Mission marked as “Rogue”
* Cunning - You've earned this badge by playing an architect mission marked as rogue content.

You Must Now Wait Seven Days as a ROGUE
* Trickster - You completed a Rogue Morality Mission and then maintained your Rogue alignment for 7 days earning yourself this badge.

Step 4: Move to HERO

Day 1:

Do 5 Tip Missions as a HERO
* Ear To The Street - You completed a Hero Alignment Mission earning yourself the Ear to the Street badge.

Day 2:

Do 5 Tip Missions as a HERO
Do HERO Morality Mission
* Resolute - You've proven time and time again that Paragon City can rely on you. You have completed a Hero Morality Mission earning yourself this badge.
* Ascended - Despite your villainous beginnings you managed to redeem yourself. You have shifted your alignment from Villain to Hero earning yourself the Ascended badge.
* Come Full Circle - You ended up right back where you started, coming full circle from hero to villain and back again.

You Must Now Wait Seven Days as a HERO
* Heard the Call - You completed a Hero Morality Mission and then maintained your Hero alignment for 7 days earning yourself this badge.

DONE!

Can only do as a villain or in a villain tip:
* Whip Cracker - (Defeat Desdemona)

Can't do day 1 as a hero:
Help Someone Else do a HERO or VIGILANTETip Mission.
No evil tips for heroes, and if you done 5 tips already then it doesn't matter.
