I also hate it when someone randomly buffs me when I'm at the Black Market or at Wentworth's, or even just standing around in Ouro. Just...no.

But occasionally, and I do mean occasionally, when I just create a new character and am running around in a starting zone, I like to see how my character looks when using powers and how well it's meshing with the costume, and I also like to see how well they can perform on their own. In that respect, being randomly buffed when I'm fighting something on the streets isn't always welcomed, since it can interfere with how my character looks and/or keep me from being able to monitor how well my character does on my own.

But onwards;

Another pet peeve: People inviting themselves over to my farms when they know I'm farming. If I wanted them to join I would've invited them in the first place. >>

I am primarily on Virtue..with a couple on Champion (and Victory, and Protector, etc). The RPing issue is on Virtue

Not everyone wants to be buffed. You never know what their playstyle is, or why they went in to the particular fight they did.

The whole frigging point of GR is grey moral areas and there being 2 sides to each faction is so that the division isn't that simple, you idiots.
Avoid the GR forum. <.<

'I don't like the look of it at all,' said the King: 'however, it may kiss my hand if it likes.'
'I'd rather not,' the Cat remarked.
'Don't be impertinent,' said the King, 'and don't look at me like that!' He got behind Alice as he spoke.
'A cat may look at a king,' said Alice.

I made that mistake once.

Reading the Comic & H/V Culture forum is about as good for your brain cells as chugging antifreeze.

Any forum not the Dev Digest, the ATs & Powers section, Market and Champion I avoid like the plague. There's just too much stupid for me to handle.

There's still stupid in those sections, (especially Defender and Market section), but generally enough posts that interest me that I can bear it

People complainin' 'bout the RNG.

It's not broken. It's random.

I think my biggest pet peeve is when ppl DON'T ask questions for fear of ppl calling them N00B.

Oh and those ppl that call other players asking questions N00Bs.

This. If you don't ask questions, you'll remain ignorant. Better to ask and maybe look like an idiot for a moment than never ask and be an idiot forever.

Also, people who cannot or will not listen. I mean, dayum.

-Lets ask the same question every week because you don't care enough to actually commit anything to memory. That one gets old, real fast.

-When someone doesn't know what level a TF is. New players are understandable, but people who have been playing for years and still don't remember or even take the tiny amount of time and look it up.

It's hard to relate and be patient sometimes when I know that in less than 30 seconds one can find the answer to pretty much any question you could think of on one of the numerous websites dedicated to CoX.

Exactly. I also enjoy the irony of the successive posts a couple replies back:

Post 1: Ask questions, we are here to help.
Post 2: Don't ask a question you can figure out; we're not really here to help.

Now, I know Force to be a decent player from what I've seen of him. I think he's only speaking to those who ask the same questions repeatedly (not to speak for you, sorry).

But if I had to limit my questions to things I couldn't figure out with time and research.......I would never be able to ask another question again. ; )

However, if I was always having to answer the same questions for the same people; I could see that easily becoming frustrating.

So, I guess a good way to phrase that pet peeve is : Absolutes

Sure, buy me a new Kayak and take over my car payments and we'll take it from there.

Indeed, I very much enjoy helping along new players, teaching them the basics, and showing them all the neat things that the game has to offer. However I also appreciate it when what is being said and taught is absorbed and not bouncing off pavement. I'm all for folks asking questions, just remember the answer.

This.

On a related note, it does bug me when people are spoiled by support-heavy teams where everyone is softcapped and the enemies are nerfed to hell. Then they play on a team with little support and run around like they are softcapped.

And wonder why they're taking so much damage.

For Post 2, I see this more as "After I've given you the answer several times in a row, given you the source of the information so that you could find it yourself, don't keep asking me."

(Just to clarify, I'm not referring to questions that warrant discussion or explanation. I'm talking about questions that could be answered with a few clicks of your mouse.)

There are quite a few questions I answer in game from memory, but for a lot of others, I resort to the Wiki, or Mids, or any of the numerous CoH related references available to players. There's no magic behind it. I'm just opening up my bookmarks, clicking on Titan Network, and finding the answer. I can't help but think as I'm doing this, that the person who asked the question could also be doing this. Which leads me to this point:

Not that you necessarily implied this Star Fire, but your choice of words is interesting. Some players likely perceive that finding the answer takes a lot of 'time and research' and feel it is faster to just ask someone. In most cases, it doesn't, as illustrated by my example above.

So, yes, I absolutely am willing to answer questions for new players, or even vet players. I also try whenever possible to direct them to a place they can find the answers in the future as well.
