(Just to clarify, I'm not referring to questions that warrant discussion or explanation. I'm talking about questions that could be answered with a few clicks of your mouse.)

There are quite a few questions I answer in game from memory, but for a lot of others, I resort to the Wiki, or Mids, or any of the numerous CoH related references available to players. There's no magic behind it. I'm just opening up my bookmarks, clicking on Titan Network, and finding the answer. I can't help but think as I'm doing this, that the person who asked the question could also be doing this. Which leads me to this point:

Not that you necessarily implied this Star Fire, but your choice of words is interesting. Some players likely perceive that finding the answer takes a lot of 'time and research' and feel it is faster to just ask someone. In most cases, it doesn't, as illustrated by my example above.

So, yes, I absolutely am willing to answer questions for new players, or even vet players. I also try whenever possible to direct them to a place they can find the answers in the future as well.
Just to clarify: My irony comment was supposed to be a joke.

That's why I made sure to say:

"Now, I know Force to be a decent player from what I've seen of him. I think he's only speaking to those who ask the same questions repeatedly (not to speak for you, sorry). "

I feel that is fairly close to your interpertation: "After I've given you the answer several times in a row, given you the source of the information so that you could find it yourself, don't keep asking me."

So I think we both recognize the intended meaning and understand his reply was not meant mean-spirited. And it was *never* about putting Force down; as I indicated, I have nothing but respect for him in my gaming experience with him.

Only saying that some questions aren't so readily google'd; and extremes make for dangerous judgment tools. Perhaps that may have been the better way to have phrased it on my part.

I know you weren't coming after me or anything; I just wanted to explain so I made sure not to offend.

I hate it when people say they are leaving the game for good (you get your hopes up), then you see them post something stupid, kinda like me.

I also hate it when people setup shop on a server, build a respectable SG/VG, then choose to go to another server - twice!

Some people...

I hate when people return to the game and don't look up their old friends.

I hate it when people don't have an obvious global name that matches their forum name, just for example: @Dinah Might or @Dinah_Might. You send a global tell to both and they don't exist.

I hate it when you get on a team with what you think are great players (or at least the team leader), and it takes them 5 minutes to set a mission.

I hate it when it's past midnight on a work night and you just got on a great team but it's well past your bedtime...ironic.

I definitely was not offended and did not interpret your post to be mean spirited in the least. What you said just triggered some of my own thoughts on the issue of questions asked in game. Frankly, I think you should have given Force a tougher time. Please see Nator for suggestions.

It's not any specific channel that I'm referring to. It could be in tells, it could be on a team, Broadcast, etc. More often than not I'd say it's outside the Help channel.

Thats a shame.

Perhaps we all should use it more often.

It may help to encourage new players to ask questions, educate and promote a greater sense of community.

Just a thought.

I honestly didn't even know about the help channel until you mentioned it.

I added the Help channel to a tab tonight, since it had been a long time and I was curious about what it's like there now. It's been completely silent the entire time, three and a half hours as I write this.

'I don't like the look of it at all,' said the King: 'however, it may kiss my hand if it likes.'
'I'd rather not,' the Cat remarked.
'Don't be impertinent,' said the King, 'and don't look at me like that!' He got behind Alice as he spoke.
'A cat may look at a king,' said Alice.

Because new players or ones needing help need to type in /hc before they can use it, which they'd probably need to ask in bcast for how to use the help channel...

However, I would like to just point out that....

HEY PEOPLE!!! This isn't the "fix stuff" thread, this is the complain and don't do anything about it thread! Get with the program and fix stuff in a different thread.

You with the solutions, go on get outta here who let you in GIT!

I hate it when people talk with food in their mouths on Vent. It makes me cringe.

I hate that I run into walls with super speed and speed boost.

I hate getting webnaded.

I hate that hover makes me look like I'm haunting Paragon instead of saving it.

I hate that I know key binds would make playing much more simpler, but I never make them.

I hate when Amy steals my rezzes.

I hate that any time I read the "First Thing that Comes to your mind thread" , the first thing is "Uh What?" and the second ...and third.

I really hate when I am trying to distract the person leading the CoP with flirty chat and I mt to somone in another sg. Having to spend the next ten minutes explaining that its a joke and a mistake.

I hate that even though I think its silly to "wb" someone who was gone for a minute. I still feel rude that I don't do it when others do. Rudely Superior or Superiorly Rude?

There ya go Force

I don't like that the new zones aren't connected to the old zones. It makes me feel trapped in one long tutorial.

Just content that you know they are back and things can start (or the ribbing will start up again).

The average is 'bout once a month someone says somethin' in there. If that.

I was just reminded of a forum pet peeve when I saw a new thread in another area titled "So..."

If I wanted people other than the bored or curious ones to read my thread, I would give some idea of what it was about in the title. Not every poster makes it clear in the part you can see by mousing over the title, either, and I'm sure not every reader knows they can do that.
