Hello ***,

Thank you for contacting NCsoft Account Support.

At this time we need to verify that this is indeed your account. Please provide as much of the following information as you can:

-- What first and last name did you use when you created the account?
-- What physical address did you use when you created the account?
-- What date of birth did you use when you created the account?
-- What are the 20-digit serial codes for all games you added to the account?
-- What is the Unique Account ID for all the game accounts you added to the account? (This was sent to you via e-mail on the date your game account was activated with a subject header of 'Game Account Activated'.)
-- Original billing information: If activated using a credit/debit card, please provide the last 4 digits of the credit card used. If activated using a game time card, please provide the 20-digit game time card code used to activate the account. If activated using PayPal®, please provide the Transaction ID or the Invoice ID associated with the original activation purchase.

We look forward to assisting you.

Thanks,

I understand security but I was logged in on my account when I filed petition,I thought they werent supposed to be asking some of these questions.

Just curious I suppose and it does say from:NCsoft Support <support@ncsoft.com> ,so is this legit? Haven't tried the phone # probably won't either as I can login the game just fine now.

Scam. Don't answer that. They will never ask for that kind of information through e-mail.

I'd bet they'd ask for exactly that kind of information.

I certainly would not provide that kind of information in response to an email request.

Me neither, I'd phone. But I wouldn't be surprised in the least if that is what they'd ask; it's classic account identity verification stuff.

My 1st thought was scam as well, with the recent wave of Aion nonsense.

But I think this one might be legit. My RL buddy had to create an entire new account when he rejoined because he couldn't find some of that info for them to retrieve his old password.

They never ask for a password. They don't ask for the complete credit card number...
The phone # provided is indeed for NCSoft support.

Still, to be on the safe side, if your no longer having the issue just reply with
Issue resolved: Thanks.

I would never give that info out unless there was no doubt to it being NCSoft, and that is too much info.

I actually want to say that's legit. That looks really similar to what I was sent when I blanked out on my Guild Wars info. (the game I log into, oh, once a year or so.)

However, to play it safe, go to the actual NCSoft site. Y ou should be able to access your support tickets through there and answer any info.

Edit: Yep. From my Guild Wars request:

Thanks for contacting Guild Wars Account Support.

The fastest way for us to help you with your issue is for us to verify the following information. Please provide as much of this information as you can.

-- What first and last name did you use when you created the account?
-- What physical address did you use when you created the account?
-- What date of birth did you use when you created the account?
-- What are all the 25-digit retail access keys currently registered to your Guild Wars game account? (Please include the retail access keys from each campaign.)

We look forward to your reply.

Thank you,
Ralf

Haven't had to do so for COH, though. (Edit: And seriously, "all the 25 digit codes applied to your account?" Really?)

Yeah that looks exactly like the info they asked me to provide when I took a break, moved and lost all my original info, then tried to re-subscribe.

Not saying you shouldn't be skeptical, but that looks right to me.

If you're worried, just call the numbers there and give 'em the info over the phone.

That looks like a cut/paste from an email NCSoft sent me when I lost my 2nd account's login password.

As has been mentioned :

Anything NCSoft emails to you that is support related will show up here :

Knowledge Base/Ask a Question section of the Support site from www.ncsoft.com

Please note that although linked, the support account IS a separate account.

Thanx for all the advice folks,as I have stated the issue is resolved.

I didn't think that support would contact someone via email with such questions,I figured for those it would be a "call them" type of deal.

Oh well better safe than sorry thanx again ppl.

In part, it's how their system works. Like I said, if you ever are wondering about how valid it is, any support email also shows up in their support website at ncsoft.com

It's NCSoft. They'll come knocking on your door if they need these kind of information. Also, wasn't there a thread posted by a Moderator saying that they'll NEVER ask you these kind of info?

If you're able to log into the game now, I wouldn't bother with any of these things. If you're still curious, you can always copy this e-mail and send it to support yourself and ask them if it's legit..or go to the knowledge base on ncsoft.com.

It is legit. I had this exact same email from them when my account got hacked and someone changed my master password. Confirm the email address before sending the reply though.

As others have said, it was probably legit and easy to verify if it's not by going to the support site.

That being said, the fact NC Soft jumped straight to "prove your account isn't stolen" when the OP submitted a trouble ticket about technical issues relating to logging in is a bit much.

Ok... first questions to ask yourself: Why do they need all that just to verify me?

Answer: They don't.

If you ever have any doubt, go to the source. Contact the support team directly through the website (not any links or numbers given to you in the email).

My account was hacked about eight months ago (stupid Aion farmers) and in discussions with NCSoft, they asked me these questions as well. However, it was in the context of the NCSoft ticket support system, and not via email. I had no problem providing the info on the 'My Tickets' page of their support system, but I'd never reply with that info via email.

I have to admit, I do not have all the code information added to my accounts. (And there's a lot. I have a booster/costume issue.*) If asked for those ... I'm done. I'd hope they'd accept correct answers on a good proportion of those questions but if it's all or nothing... ewwww.

I don't think so Aett, it looks like the usual canned response.

Player: "I lost all my veteran rewards."
GM: "Please provide a urine sample, and tell us what kind of chair you are using to play."

Just FYI, for anyone looking at all those questions and feeling discouraged about contacting Support with a similar problem...

NCSoft was very gracious despite me being unable to provide some of the information they "required" in the email. They did some additional checking using information I DID have, and got me rollin' Hero-style again in short order.

Same here, I didn't have all the code I added to my account and they still reactivated it without issue. I did provide as much info as I could ( maybe 8 out of 14 codes)

That's just sloppy. It's a good thing we have these forums to answer people's questions or they would never get their accounts fixed.

They said they would never ask for your password in an email - or master account name.

They ask for more than they need. They ask for all that to make sure you are not "not you" trying to hijack your account.

I was able to give my last couple boosters (codes bought via digital store are emailed to you after they are applied - KEEP THEM!), plus my actual date of account creation PLUS what codes were on it.
