Prepurchase Beta Access
No it is awful of the devs to give people who pre-purchased very little time to beta test it. I would like to be able have input in GR, but at this point all the features are locked and probably 95% of the bugs are squashed. I also will never pre-purchase from them again.

also this thread is retarded
Sounds like a good slogan. Even if you make a goof like changing mid-stream from a Pre-Order plan to a Pre-Purchase plan, when players repeatedly ask for clarification about how it's going to affect your previously stated Beta Tiers just give them an answer. Publicly, just like the previously stated Beta Tiers announcement. That way you don't cause continual problems like this one.

I wasn't aware beta access was part of prepurchase. Could someone show me where this was offered?
Im sorry guys as much as i want in Closed Beta, no where did it say when i Pre-purchased months ago that it would get me into beta, I know Loyal members and Vets might get in but I wasn't expecting it this way. Only thing I really want to know is what time of the day on the 17th will we start playing GR? Will it be 12midnight eastern or 12 midnight PST , Im hoping eastern cause 12PST would suck lol

But if this many people are thinking they were supposed to get beta access, then that more than likely means there was a communication error at some point and it should be corrected by some official statement. To not clear this up and just have people keep starting threads means somebody(or more likely several people) isn't doing their job very well.
I think this is what caused the confusion:
Going Rogue Closed Beta Access will be granted using a three-tier system:

Yeah I realize preorder and prepurchase are different, but whoever is in charge of this stuff dropped the ball. And to not let people know exactly what is going on at this point is nothing short of pure incompetence on somebodies part. |
I feel stupid for asking but I'm serious, I'm having trouble seeing a difference.

Now I feel kind of dumb for asking this but... What exactly is the difference. How do I pre-order vs. pre-purchase? Does pre-order mean I need to go down to my local game store and reserve an ordered copy of Going Rogue? Was there a way to pre-order it over the NC store?

Pre-order is if you reserve a copy from Gamestop. You don't actually own the game until you get it on release day.
The question is: do both get beta?
Basically prepurchase means you bought it and own it already. Like buying form teh NCSoft store. The code is applied to your account.

Depends, do you believe more in the Devs being fair, or in Gamestop's ability to monopolize exclusives from game developers to get people to buy from them?

Why would they wait till then to do that if it will be on store shelves on the morning of that Tuesday? That would make no sense at all. Is there someplace you can point me to with that information. It is just hard to believe they would do this on the day of a release so big to them and the community.

Look at it this way; with those 4 pre-purchases you got a chance to be snarky on the forums. |
Where to find me after the end:
The Secret World - Arcadia - Shinzo
Rift - Faeblight - Bloodspeaker
LotRO - Gladden - Aranelion
STO - Holodeck - @Captain_Thiraas
Obviously, I don't care about NCSoft's forum rules, now.
Hmn...
Pre-Purchase
Pre-Order
...
Im no genius, but even I see the difference there. *shrug*
Me, I brought it as soon as it was up for pre-purchase, Beta be damned, I would rather have the pistols and demons naow
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

"Real" beta - going through the game, finding bugs, imbalances, etc. Basically its kinda crappy. But you want to contribute to that, so that's good. Generally these have applications to fill out (demographics, computer specifications, etc) and NDAs to abide by. You might get invited if you play another game by the same company and meet whatever criteria the company has.
"Marketing" beta - the "almost, if not practically ready for release" beta that some folks think betas are like. These are the "pre-order now and get into beta!" betas that places like Gamestop use to get you to buy from them. Pretty much all the real work is done already, there's no NDA (or it's going to drop very soon), etc. Basically an open beta being used as a carrot for pre-orders.
