I'm going to suggest to give Villain side a try whenever you can. Masterminds are a lot of fun, sort of the "Mancer" class which Heroes don't have (yet), and the other types are fun to play as well. Plus you get to rob banks, and beat on them smelly good guys :P

Funny you say that, as i was just looking at the villain side yesterday and was almost gonna make one lol. I may try that as soon as the servers are back up on my end.

Bah and wouldn't it just be so that Freedom is the last server to come up and I have to go to work I'll be on tonight though.

I sat back and watched all the knowledgeble people answer with thoughts and things to do and AT's to use.

So I will impart here the reason I like villains better than hero side.

No matter how frustrating life is at times, it is soooo nice to log in to my favorite villain of the month and go smash up some cars and crates and parking meters in a mayhem mission. Instant stress relief and no holes in the walls or foot stomping noises to irrate those that live in the same household.

And the first time I took my level 35 plant dom back to port oakes and my giant fly trap ran up behind a line of family that were strolling along the street and took them all out at once in domino fashion, I about laughed my self silly. How I wish I had hit screen shot!

Oh,, and the trams have an exit and an entrance do not confuse the two.

First off, welcome to the City! Now, I wanna say something.

So, I'll admit it. I am a forum lurker. I read them, and read them, but almost never reply or comment.

But, this thread... I had to speak up.

I have never played WoW, or EQ, or most of 'em. I played Galaxies when it first came out and loved it, but then it changed. And, I discovered City of Heroes. I thought to myself, "I could grind along until I MAYBE get to be a Jedi, or I can be a superhero now." So, long story short, here I am. Fifty-one months under my belt, I still learn new things almost every time I play, hear folks say/type hilarious and strange things every time I play, and meet some of the coolest interwebz folks every time I play.

But, the gist of my reply: This thread sums up the community of CoX. I love it.

You folks always have great things to add. It makes me happy to be part of it and play this great game with you all. Vicros, you are in for quite a time here, and I hope you take advantage of it. Great fun can be had with any AT, and team. The best part is this:

When you log in, select your server of choice, select your chosen creation, and enter Paragon City (or the Rogue Isles) you are no longer your real-life self. You get to be whoever you wanted to be on the creation screen. That is awesome.
Me (I will speak up for my AT of choice), I got to be SSG Jones, an Assault Rifle/Devices blaster. I have jet boots to fly around, full U.S. Military uniform, and my trusty rifle with a full clip to unload on the baddies of the world. It is damned good fun, and these folks who responded to your initial post are what made it that way.

Again, welcome to the City! Hope to lay suppressive fire for ya one day, so we can rid this world of bad guys...

As someone who recently returned after years and years on not playing, I want to say that making different characters and trying them for just a few levels has helped me a LOT. The same goes for my daughter who I drafted into playing with me. I have a low 40's blaster from when I played at open beta and launch that I've still barely touched because I still feel so new.

I'm new, I'm green, and I'm having a blast. Oh, and great community too!

Thanks for all the replies everyone, its a joy to be here on the boards and in the game. I have since made a few new toons and have been trying all kinds of things.

@The Sarge: I also make a assault rifle/devices toon and his name is SGT. Avery Johnson lol ( Halo tribute ) complete with cigar. But i havent taken him very far.

I favorite toon right now is Blaster- Archery/Energy Manip. He looks like he came straight from LOTR but with a hi tech bow lol. Hes alot of fun to play with a good group. Am going to try new things when GR releases as well. I know i said blaster wasnt my best AT but i think thats cuz i was just trying to solo most the time, but in a team i found its really enjoyable to sit back and just be support and also by doing that i found i survive much longer.

If you like the Archery set a lot you might like the Trick Arrow primary for Defenders. You can make a Trick Arrow/Archery defender and have a great time sitting back, debuffing the snot out of mobs, then helping kill them. Especially once you get your Rain of Arrows Not to mention the Oil Slick.

Archery/EM is a great combo... it's very endurance friendly (mine at 50 has never had Stamina or needed it) and with perma-boost range (3 recharge SO's and you're there) you can drop an entire 8 man spawn from 100' away in 3 shots; you can do this every 30 seconds too.

The staminaless build I have has roughly 1 SO worth of end reduction in each attack and Conserve Power. I can attack full speed for about 3 minutes before my end bottoms out, I hit CP and by the time it's expired my end bar is full again. I've never had an occasion where I needed CP and it wasn't recharged.

In the interests of full disclosure I don't run any toggles; if I was to add in Leadership or other toggles I would need to get Stamina.

Yea i really like this setup so far..i plan on making this my first 50 toon..
