  1. Cloaking Device: check.
    Targeting Drone: check.
Now, I admire the long string of Trip Mines I placed perfectly along the line which I know the mobs will follow.
Caltrops down at the point where they will obviously round the corner.
And might as well call the Gun Drone to mop the ones that are a bit resistant to hot lead.
    Windage: check.
    Arc: check.

    Control breathing. Squeeze the trigger.

Oh, to send a round with laser precision into a mob's head (from more than a few yards away)... Then wait and watch as a perfectly laid trap mops up his buddies as they race toward my hiding spot to see what dropped their friend...

This is what makes me happy. To be a perfect assassin, a soldier of fortune. A master of ambush. Perhaps I cannot take a beating if they get close. So, I don't let them get close.

My happiness build is my Assault Rifle/Devices Blaster. No matter how many builds I try, and delete, I always come back to SSG Jones for precise, planned attacks.
  2. Apologies for being unclear.
I have typed the format for the background-image correctly, and it shows when I use browsers other than IE. My issue that I need to research is: Is there a better, more universal, format for images than .jpg?

My learning does not do well with flat-out reading. I am more of a "crash through it first and see why it failed" kind of guy. I know that isn't the best way to design and program, but it is how my process works for me.

    This.

Many thanks to all for the advice and words of encouragement.

For now, I want to just see if I can make something presentable to the Professor. I have great ideas in my head, but it will take some research to put it on the screen. My biggest problem so far, is figuring out why Firefox and Opera are ok with my "background-image: xxx.jpg", but IE hates it. Ah, well. Perhaps someday I will be able to show the world the true power of <insert SG name here> via the web.
  4. Wow, and the community comes through again! Many thanks, folks. I will get started immediately.

  5. Greetings, my fellow City of 'ers. First off, I will admit my search-fu is weak, so if these answers already exist, I have not found them. Second, I am very new to XHTML and the concept of web design, so I have limited knowledge past the concepts of <h1>, <p>, <img>, and <div>...

I am currently enrolled in a Website development class at a local (to me) University. The end project for the class is to create a website (that will be only local to my and my Professor's computer, and not published) about a topic that I enjoy.

Well, what better topic than our great pastime here? Specifically, I will create a site that gives general information about my one-player Super Group. Not knowing the specific rules, I will not name it here. That being said, I will pose my questions.

    1) Is it legal to, and if so, how can I capture a video of the login screen characters? That is, I would like to show my specific character moving the way they do when they are selected, but I have not yet clicked to enter the game world. This video will be used on the specific page which describes the statistics and biography of said character.

    2) Is it legal to, and if so, how can I use specific music files from the game? I would like them to play during the Question #1 scenario.

Being a lurker, but generally not a poster, of these forums, I know that there is a great wealth of information in our collective here. Any and all help would be most appreciated.

    Thanking you in advance,

Oh my, this is hilarious! I actually laughed out loud in my office. No one else plays CoH in here, so they all still think I am an uber-nerd... Even more so, now.
  7. First off, welcome to the City! Now, I wanna say something.

So, I'll admit it. I am a forum lurker. I read them, and read them, but almost never reply or comment.

But, this thread... I had to speak up.

I have never played WoW, or EQ, or most of 'em. I played Galaxies when it first came out and loved it, but then it changed. And, I discovered City of Heroes. I thought to myself, "I could grind along until I MAYBE get to be a Jedi, or I can be a superhero now." So, long story short, here I am. Fifty-one months under my belt, I still learn new things almost every time I play, hear folks say/type hilarious and strange things every time I play, and meet some of the coolest interwebz folks every time I play.

But, the gist of my reply: This thread sums up the community of CoX. I love it.

You folks always have great things to add. It makes me happy to be part of it and play this great game with you all. Vicros, you are in for quite a time here, and I hope you take advantage of it. Great fun can be had with any AT, and team. The best part is this:

When you log in, select your server of choice, select your chosen creation, and enter Paragon City (or the Rogue Isles) you are no longer your real-life self. You get to be whoever you wanted to be on the creation screen. That is awesome.
Me (I will speak up for my AT of choice), I got to be SSG Jones, an Assault Rifle/Devices blaster. I have jet boots to fly around, full U.S. Military uniform, and my trusty rifle with a full clip to unload on the baddies of the world. It is damned good fun, and these folks who responded to your initial post are what made it that way.

Again, welcome to the City! Hope to lay suppressive fire for ya one day, so we can rid this world of bad guys...

    Out.
