Wentworths problem - aka the old one was ugly but better!

I'm sure this has been discussed somewhere before on here, but I can't find it, and am extremely frustrated with CoX right now.

As anyone who has tried to use WW since issue 17 knows, it's almost unworkable. You'll drag, say, a piece of salvage into the WW window, and it immediately shows back up in your inventory. Sometimes I have to drag it 5-6 times before it finally sticks. And then there's pricing. I'll put the price in, click post, and the price window goes blank. I do it again, it goes blank again, keeping the item in "Stored" rather than putting it in "Selling" where it belongs. 3-4 tries later, it finally works.

This has been going on since day one of issue 17. Can't this be fixed? Sure, the new interface looks nicer, but the old interface - for the most part - actually worked. Wentworth as it stands right now has really frustrated me and brought down my enjoyment of the game quite a bit. What was once a 5 min trip to WW to sell after a successful mission has turned into 30 minutes of drag and drop hell.

Hmm..I haven't experienced what you described. I drag to the 'stored' area and the dialouge box pops up, I put the price in the box (if I am selling) and click 'post'. All works for me. Wish I could help you, but perhaps someone has an aswer.

I've heard a lot of people complaining about it, so I know it's not just me. What server are you on? I'm on Virtue, maybe it's worse on Virtue and Freedom because of the population.

Virtue here, too, with the same issues depending on server load. Middle of the week during the day, it's smooth as can be. Hit the rush times, and the thing is horrible.

I don't have this issue on Freedom either. On a side note, isn't WW cross-server anyway?

It is cross-server, including the European ones.

As of I18/GR it will also be cross faction.

I hear people on Virtue complaining about it all the time. If it is cross server, how could it affect Virtue and not other servers?

I'm having this problem too. It is very annoying. I'm mainly noticing it in busier zones on Virtue, like Steel, Talos or Cap Au Diable. One time, I was having a bunch of problems in Cap, so I switched to St Martial and had no problems there. No idea why this would be, but that's my experience with it.

More players on Virtue means more people complaining while the overall percentage of players seeing this may even be less than on servers with fewer players.

All you need is it screwing up once on something big and you are going to voice your objections.

Personally I think the new system is considerably better than the old one in responsiveness and it doesn't map serve systems with 1GB or less of memory.

It's definitely an issue on Virtue. It doesn't bother me too often, as I don't spend a lot of time doing market-related activities - But there are times when you try to post a price or claim an item only to need to repeat it five or six times before it will actually stick.

That's what I did pre I17. Kings Row in CoH and Sharkshead in CoV. Cap was just horrible, so was Talos or Steel.

Maybe since I'm from a era where computers were rarely as quick as you see them in TV and movies that I'm patient enough to wait until I know the DnD took. That's what I was forced to do pre-I17 as well so I'm use to it and leave a message window up with the market messages displayed to confirm each step.

My biggest issue is that I am an impatient marketeer.

I wont leave things to fill over time. If its something I need, I'll simply just keep bidding incrimentally more until I reach my limit, and then withdraw.

But i've bene bitten by the silly UIs preference to always take me to the 'bidding' sub-section numerous times. I click the cancel button seemingly at the exact same time WWs decides that my bid has won, so it moves it off into the 'bought' area, while I think im free to go off and make a higher bid with my inf since it didnt fill.

Usually this only happens with salvage in suck low amounts its hard to notice the inf hasnt been replaced, but every so often i'll loose out a little bit more because of this crazy UI, I definately much prefered the old system, all this sub tabs are more trouble than they are worth.

I've learned now when bidding that either every time i put something up to click back to the All tab to watch it, and cancel from there, or to check baught before I go and make another bid ( afew times its been slow updating baught, and its not said (1) or anything after it, but when my next bid fills I suddenly have 2 of what I was after in there, one for an older price I was bidding at)

What you're experiencing here is NOT an interface glitch. It's a function of lag/load/slowness on the market server. I used to have the same thing happen in the old interface every once in a while. Usually it's the market DB server screaming for a table rebuild, defrag, and reboot.

Not for me it hasn't. You can't simply drop stuff ANYWHERE on the interface.

This. Although on Union. The old interface kicked me out of game more times that I care to count. I used to tell my team/sg mates I'm going to the market, if I dissapear I'll be back. No problems with the new market.

It's not (entirely) an issue with the market server, but with the shard you're playing on, which is why all the complaints (over many, many threads) have only said they're from Virtue (anyone not on Virtue with issues should really speak up and say so). Virtue being the common element in all the complaints means that Virtue is either the cause, or trigger, of the issue.

And I, personally, infinitely prefer the new UI. It's faster, more responsive, takes less clicks, and more helpful than the old one.

Well, I'm glad I posted about this. I assumed it was a game-wide problem, but now I know that apparently Virtue is the only server affected. Doesn't make it more palatable, but at least we're starting to see where the problem lies.

I'd love to find out if anything is being done about it.

I have to agree with Kitsune on this one. I am seeing the problem excessively on Virtue so I think it must somehow be related to that.

I don't believe it's the system because I just completely rebuilt my computer going from intel to amd and xp to win7 with everything installed from scratch but it has acted the same way on both systems.

It may be the network although I haven't noticed any lag or sync problems anywhere else in game. When I get a spare moment or two I'll have to try on Freedom to see if it's server load but that will mean creating and leveling a character on Freedom in order to get some salvage to put on the market.

I have been having this problem a lot recently. Probably on Virtue since that is where the alt I play the most right now is. It's quite annoying. I had the issue big time on Saturday in the Talos Island WW. Couldn't really do anything useful with the market because anything I dragged on or off the interface wouldn't move.

I've been doing a fair bit of marketing on Freedom (Blue and Reside), and I've not had any issues. I don't believe it's caused by server load, although that might make it more noticeable on Virtue.

When I had issues with Market Lag with the old market, I chose a zone that wasn't very busy, espeically at the market. For Heroes, I used Kings Row. For Villains, I used Sharkhead or Port Oaks.

When I was playing a Hero, I also did one other thing: I accessed the market from the back room of WW. I'd go back there, move to where I was far enough away that selecting one of the NPCs near the doorway to the main area wouldn't open the market UI and select them, move forward so that I was up against the wall, pretty much behind the NPC but still in the back room, Page Down to bring the camera in to the default zoom, and click on NPC to open the interface.

I passed this tip on to a friend who used to play and was on dialup. He found that it was an enormous help, and he almost never DC'd while opening the market.
