[I would pay for ...] Defeat Civilians
Please, you thought AVs were tough? The civilians push you aside like you weren't even there. We don't con grey to them, we don't con AT ALL!
Dec out.
I just wish they didnt act as a target when you hit the tab key. Its Immensely irritating to be trying to hit that Guard Boss who's stood in the lobby, when all you can actually target are the damn civies. And, oh, look, grenade to the face. Never mind, eh? *sigh*
Either let us knock them out, or make them not.
And please, for the love of pete, get rid of the mag 100 push they have!
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

/unsigned to making them not targetable. My kinetics and /psy Doms, for instance, *love* the nice big boost they get from these guys at the start of a fight.

The Tab won't reigster the vault and thus won't target it. But you can still click on it and attack it. If you apply that tech to the civilians, that way those who want to target them still can by clicking, and those who prefer to tab to the next actual enemy dont get swamped by unkillable targets that means they can't target what they are actaully after.
Win/win?

I didn't say untargetteable. If you go into a Bank mission as a Villain, try tab selecting the vault (this only works with the default bind)

I'm all for it, to get around the rating problem call it knocked out. I agree with Techbot that they are only click target, if not it would get pretty annoying.

Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.
Totally! I mean they are targettable and attackable in Mayhems already! Why not make them killable?
And throw in a badge:
Homicidal Maniac-Kill 1,000,000 civilians in Mayhem Missions.
to TO THE END!
Villains are those who dedicate their lives to causing mayhem. Villians are people from the planet Villia!
I like the idea of only being "cick" targetable instead of tabbing on 20 of them while trying to focus back on the mob that killing me in the mish.
Scenery in Mayhems isnt so big a deal. At least you get to watch it explode and, hey, you get a time bonus for it! Cool stuff.
Civilians? They are just in the damn way. If we are forced to have villains that, for whatever reason, dont shoot civilians (*eyeroll*) then simply don't make them targettable. If we are allowed to make actualy, y'know, evil villains that can shoot civies, for the love of pete let us at least 'defeat' them.

I think the idea of making it easier to not target them via tab is a good one, though. I find it annoying that I have to click on the vault doors, but the same feature for civilians makes a lot of sense.
Guide: Tanking, Wall of Fire Style (Updated for I19!), and the Four Rules of Tanking
Story Arc: Belated Justice, #88003
Synopsis: Explore the fine line between justice and vengeance as you help a hero of Talos Island bring his friend's murderer to justice.
Grey Pilgrim: Fire/Fire Tanker (50), Victory
Pay. anything to add to the villain theme. we should have tht them ages ago tbh
I think that's a line the devs don't quite want to cross. Yes, there is violence in the game (I'm arresting you with my razor sharp katana!), but going overt homicidal is a dark line that this game tries to skirt at most.

There is a way to sate frustration at NPC civilians... the MA!
Sure, there's no game reward for filling a map with powerless minions dressed as civs but it should go some way to alleviating the annoying little ... people.
But as far as making them defeatable inside Mayhems, I doubt this will happen. The closest we get is leading a hostage to their doom. And I see the swarms of civs as a distraction. Yes alt-tab can be frustrating but, for me at least, it creates a sense that you really are causing mayhem as a villain.
NPC Civilains are annoying but at least they scatter and run fast when you hit them. My general strategy on a Mayhem is "nothing left standing". I go in and take out every car, mailbox, fireplug and PPD officer on the map. During that process my AoE attacks have normally sent all of the citizens scurrying to the nearest door to hide. I polish off all the sides and then hit the bank. This normally means if I have rescued a Villain from the Police Station they actually follow me to the bank and assist rather than winding up staring at a parking meter trying to decide if they should attack it or not. hehehe (and YES I have seen them do just that.. had to run back and destroy it before they would move)
Yeah it's a REAL pain wading through 20 or so civilains in the lobby while a Security Guard Captain [BOSS] is trying to seperate my head from my neck but usually one good AoE sends those running out the front door as well. Of course then you have to battle through them as they push you around heading outside before you can target the BOSS. Maybe they could make them defeatable and add a small amount of INF or something to make attacking them worth your while.. nothing huge maybe like they do with exploration badges just a small amount of XP (no drops or prestige etc). If not why am I taking damage from that Boss in the lobby while I am pounding on civilians just trying to run away?
Would I PAY to be able to defeat civilans? NO Not unless it was part of an expansion pack that had a LOT more going for it that just that. How about we just revamp the code and make it a FREE addition for everyone? I do like the BADGE idea although I doubt Marketing and the Devs would buy off on that title. 1 million of them might be a tad high although I never really stopped to count just how many of the annoying little distractions exist on a Mayhem map. How about 5000 instead? :-D Hey how's this for a badge title:
UNCIVILIZED Your habit of attacking unarmed civlians has earned you the reputation of being an uncivlized thug throughout the Rogue Isles. |
Were always the good guys. In D&D, were lawful good. In City of Heroes were the heroes. In Grand Theft Auto we pay the prostitutes promptly and never hit them with a bat. Leonard
Those women are prostitutes? You said they were raising money for stem cell research! Sheldon
I would pay for, and consider a very good idea, the ability for a villain character to damage/defeat civilians in missions and in open zones. We can already target them. We can already attack them. We just can't damage them.
Setup a booster pack that enables me to do so on my villains, and I'll buy it.
