i had 2 billion influence stole that was stored in my global email..... why won't the devs get back to me about getting me my money back

First off, it wouldn't be the devs getting back to you, it'd be the GMs. And when did it go? I don't think they're particularly well staffed on the weekends. You might have to wait until at least Monday to hear anything back.

ouch. that has to hurt.

Double check to make sure the sending toon doesnt have the money still

but yeah, u'l probably have to wait til monday or tuesday. Any high lvl tech support is off on weekends... since regular GMs probably cant just give the inf back to u. (i know, i'm on weekend 2 with an issue that's not being resolved, but they are helping tons trying to figure it out)

If they have fewer GMs working on weekends then that is gross mismanagement. The in game population of players on weekends has to be higher than weekdays.

As to the bug, yeah, I've encountered it too. I only lost about 50 million to it, though. To me, that's not much. I consider it a lesson in not using email for storage. The system is just way too unreliable for that.

Send something, then immediately retrieve it.

Really? Guess what. It works that way in most industries. I guess they're all incompetent.

Or they have the same number and the increase in player population means that on the weekends each has more to do and therefore less responsive.

Yeah, then give 'em a chance to get to you on a weekday. If this is happening to more than a few people (and I've seen other reports), they may be a little swamped.

Precisely why I haven't been using this feature myself yet. Just like how you should never buy a car in the first year of a new model, I like letting the kinks get worked out before I jump in.

Why on earth would you keep that much inf just sitting in Email cyberspace??? You know toons can hold unlimited amounts, right?? And quite safely! Wow.......I guess you live and learn!

Wow, that's wrong. The cap is 2 billion, the same amount the OP lost.

Lascher may be referring to the common practice of using the Market to store sums of influence in excess of the cap - though that's not "toons holding unlimited amounts" precisely so it may simply be that Lascher was mistaken.

Also, I believe e-mails have a limited shelf life, so using them as a storage method rather than the transit method they were designed to be is probably unwise.

I was indeed wrong.....never hold my inf long enough to top 2bil on one toon. But still, keeping it in an E-mail...especially after the reports of problems just like this one, seems......wrong!

I just saw in another thread someone stated that emails with attachments are deleted after approx. 30 days. I don't know if that's a fact or not, but there seem to be a few threads popping up on the subject lately so I wouldn't discount it.

I just claimed all my stuff I've had sitting in email for about 20 days. I'd suggest others do the same, at least until this thing gets sorted out.

Yeah, except bars, restaurants, amusement parks, and any other business that gets busier on weekends.

Um... Email is for ... well, SENDING messages and now, items and influence. Sending is not even close to the same thing as "storing". The market is for buying and selling - neither of which are close in meaning to "storing".

If you use those systems for purposes other than those for which they were intended, you do so at your own risk. I am not certain that NCSoft has any obligation to replace lost sums of inf.

That said, is it documented anywhere that there is a 30 day lifespan for emails with attachments? If there is not, and there actually is a 30 day lifespan for emails with attachments, then it should be clearly documented somewhere.

The original email system had no shelf life limit. I've kept in-game emails for years - around five years for some of them.

As far as I know, there was no documentation that stated that the new email system had a time limit. Given that there was no time limit on the original mail system, and the fact that the new one's apparent limit doesn't seem to have been documented or even just mentioned in passing, there was no reason to believe that the new system had a time limit.

Its fine, though vaguely annoying that the new system has a time limit, but it's not fine that no one knew about it. The devs knew people immediately thought of storing things in the email system - it was openly discussed in threads about the system in which they were participating when it was in beta. That it was never brought up seems really pretty damn inexcusable.
