Hamidon listed in 1up's "13 Dumnass boss battles"
Most of the fun about Hamidon raids is the banter in broadcast.
A lot of that list is stupid as hell.
They do note that new!Hami is significantly better than old Hami. He mentions that there a problem with people leeching HOs off the raids. Was he just throwing more fodder on the fire, or was that an actual problem?
Yeah but Hamidon is a Raid and all raids need large amount of people and team work, it could be worse and be one of WOW raids which can be a real pain to pull off.

The Dev team has stated that they themselves never managed to even beat the old version of Hamidon. Haven't kept up with the dev digest, but as far as I'm aware, I don't think they've beaten the new one themselves either.
So yeah. Makes sense.
I find Hami Raids more enjoyable than Ship Raids, to be honest.* At least people pretend to follow directions on Hami Raids.
Disclaimer: I've never run an old-style raid, I'm basing this on the raid as it exists on Live.

We will honor the past, and fight to the last, it will be a good way to die...
That's nothing. Hamidon was listed as one of Bill Cosby's 10 best uses of Jell-O.
hmm, i wouldnt say that seth had no ptterns, on his second form, you had to watch for him to do the double sonic boom or dahlsim punch and usually you could pick a few hits at him. he is nowhere near the spirit crushing orichi characters from the kof series.

That ticked me off so bad... more than anything else about old Hami.
On Justice, we stopped announcing where we were in any public channel to fend off the mooches. Of course, some mooches switched tactics and relied on friends who actually were participating to inform them of the best time to come in for their one hit.

I've only participated in a Hamidon battle a couple of times, and each time it was a lengthy and ridiculous process with an extremely meager reward. I can see why it might make it onto such a list.

Leechers are only a little bit (sarcasm there) more annoying now that the zone population caps at 50.

Old Hamidon was anywhere from 45 minutes to two hours. And the only way to get 45 minutes was with basically every raider being a veteran of the task.

New Hamidon on a server that has the tactics down pat takes very little time to complete; about 45 minutes on average for Justice server, which includes defeating GMs to spawn Hami in the first place. The only problem Justice has is that half the regular raiding folks are very casual about arriving in the zone on time. ;p

Issue 9.
"the reason there are so many sarcastic pvpers is we already had a better version of pvp taken away from us to appease bad players. Back then we chuckled at how bad players came here and whined. If we knew that was the actual voice devs would listen to instead of informed, educated players we probably would have been bigger dicks back then." -ConFlict
The Old Hami was all kinds of stupid design. If you look at the video, you see large numbers of players doing nothing but spamming holds, and if the holds failed, you lost the raid with no hope of recovery until a server reset -- Hami would spawn a mito on top of every person in the zone. Yep, try defeating Hami now with 142 mitos.

I loved the old Hami raids.
There somebody had to say it.

I loved the old Hami raids more than this new aberration, this mockery of what an epic battle should be. Zone cap at 50, having to go through the same process 3 times, having to wait for your phase to do anything, having to farm for EoEs...
In the old version you just got there, got down to business, laid the gawdsmack on it and wham bam thank you mam! Way, way much better.

I'm pretty sure I haven't tried the new one, but my problem with the one I did was that it was over an hour of tedium to get a single underwhelming enhancement. Too much effort for too little reward.

Two things would improve my enjoyment of Hamidon a lot. One: Instanced version. I've grown to accept leechers are a natural fact of life on Hami raids, but I still would like to make sure everybody that disconnects manages to get back. Two: Replacing one or two of the waves with something different. Same thing 4 times is a bit boring.

This is what 3700 heroes in a single zone looks like.
Thanks to @EnsonsDeath for the GVE code that made me VIP again!
You had roles for all kinds of people from your illusion Controllers to your healing blanket to targeting to damage dealers (granted, Melee never played much of a part) and then everyone piled in to spam holds and get their enhancement.
The new one might be better design but it's also considerably more tedious...especially since a well-oiled team can beat STF in 30 minutes or less at times.

Okay, now I'm better awake.
The baby reaper was pretty cool, but more in a storyline way than as an actual boss battle. The battle itself reminded me of the classic boss battles of the 16-bit era. The sounds is made and the movements it made were creepy and I thought it was a good boss battle.
Is Abadon really that bad? Considering he jumps out of nowhere. I'd say he's a mini-boss and worst, meaning no one give a crap if he's stupidly easy.
Steroid Joker, while not perfect, made sense within context of the game.
Seth? Really? Sure he sucked, but there are hundreds of worse fighting game bosses.
Ah, another commentator that just doesn't "get" the Metal Gear Solid games.

Was, and still is, a problem. I've done both the older style and the revamped, and it's always been an issue. Probably worse now that the zone cap is 50. And if you happen to DC near the end, someone outside can take your spot quite easily, even though you've put in the effort.
I've long supported some changes to fix this. Like the raid leader being able to give some sort of "token" to the people in the zone when the raid starts so that they are the only ones that can get in once it's underway, or an instanced raid, which would be accessible through the base's raid transporter or some such, so that you'd have to be on a team with someone in that group to even be able to get there.
