Back to OT for a moment...

I've done the various random statements stuff, generally using /bindloadfile to load the next whatever. But I tend to get bored with them before 2 weeks is over...

When my friends were goofing around on their Ti99-4a's
I remember that!! It was the very first computer I ever got to use. Was in... 4th grade, I think...

Then, we got a Trash80 as our first home compy, and I whipped out my mad programmin' skillz!! Got an A in 8th grade programing a Jeopardy! clone on the Trash80!! Later, my aunt got an Adam computer. It was weird playing games on a cassette tape, after using carts for the Atari 2600...

Change "delims=zzz" to "delims=~~~"

My first computer: Sinclair ZX81 which had 1 kilobyte of RAM, outputted to a TV screen and saved to a cassette tape recorder via modem (no, you couldn't plug a phone line into it and get on the Internet, there was no Internet or even bulletin board systems, it converted the program to sound that was recorded as sound onto the tape).

Mine was a Nostalgia 9000...I was surprised at how quickly it became out-of-date.

I know it's possible to set up a cycling bind through /bindloadfile, so I could go through several phrases in a preset order. What I want to do is set up a randomized version, pulling a random phrase from the list each time. So, the question is: Is that possible, and how can I do it?
Here's a little write-up I did for a friend about setting it up on one of my characters using nothing but the game and notepad...

Quote:
Okay, the first thing you do is create a directory to store your bind files... I use C:\keybinds and seperate it into each character.
Then each bind is set up in a txt file like so:

numpad2 "say I will not buy this record... It is scratched!$$bind_load_file c:\keybinds\Character1\quip002.txt"

The bit at the end references the next file and loads it, replacing the current one when it's over.

In game just type /bind_load_file C:\keybinds\character1\quip001.txt and it will be ready to go.
Just remember to reference the first file at the end of the last file so that it will rotate back to start.
The rest of the bind can be anything at all, as long as it would normally bind in game... it can be bound this way too.
Like I said, it's a lot easier than I thought it would be... I have my files set up so that numpad1 activates the Taunt00x.txt files, and numpad2 activates the Quip00x.txt files. I can potentially have up to 999 of each this way.
No external programs or batch files needed beyond notepad.

Edit: Nevermind... just saw you intended it to be random. My bad. Leaving the instructions anyway for anyone who needs them.

My first PC was a Tandy. TL-1000 to be exact. My first computer was an Atari 800 w/48k, and at the time that was the most RAM you could get. I remember Texas Instruments had a computer but it had less than 48k.

Holy crap. I had one of these when I was a kid. I never knew it was an actual computer though. I was young enough (I was born after it was created ) that I just thought it was a game system. I remember playing games on it for hours upon hours. I even played the educational games.

That's all well and good, but what are you going to do with all those eels in your hovercraft?

Do you want to come back to my place bouncy bouncy?

That reminds me - once almost got grounded because my grandfather thought I had spliced his joystick for his computer to my NES - just turned out they were identical except for the Serial vs. NES connector.
