Gladiator's Armor: +Def to all for sale
Curiosity Strikes...
You're attempting to sell something with a bid starting 500 mil over the max a single character can hold. I assume you won't transfer the IO until you have been paid in full.
You're doing an auction without the AH. How can anyone trust you not to just keep saying "you've been outbid". You could start a chat channel but again who can trust you to not have planted people there to boost your bidding?
You: "Bidding starts at 2.5bil",
Bidder 1: "2.5 bil"
Bidder 2: "2.55 bil"
Plant 1: "2.7 bil"
Bidder 1: "2.72 bil"
Bidder 2: "2.725 bil"
Bidder 3: "2.73 bil"
Bidder 1: "2.734 bil"
Plant 1: "2.92 bil"
Bidder 2: "2.925 bil"
Curiosity Strikes and I'm curious about the answers to these questions.

I work on the honor system in that, if I screw you and you or someone else finds out, other people won't do business with me. I'd much rather be able to have a good reputation and do business with anyone, than get a few extra hundred million out of someone. That is how most over the inf cap business works. I also have two accounts for smaller transfers, in this case it won't matter much.
I haven't investegated the email system much and don't trust myself with it quite yet, but if there is a safer way for both parties to get their goods, I would have no problem using it.
Edit: I have also given collateral in the form of expensive IO's, not so many that I would be at a loss if someone ran off with them, but enough to make the other trading partner feel a bit more secure.

Frankly you don't. I have sold 4 of these now, excluding the one I sold to a sg mate (at a very low profit) the three other times it has gone to my buy-it-now price.

I have currently found the e-mail system to be buggy. If globals go down while you're e-mailing something or while it is stored, you can lose the item. Moreso if you are e-mailing it compared to storing it. I've lost 5 wings that I had mailed to myself, they were in my e-mail window as having been delivered and then globals crashed a short time later and they are all now gone. Still waiting for CS to fix the problem and I know someone who had a couple purples eaten.
If you do mail something I'd make sure globals were up and that you then immediately log to a character to retrieve the item and perhaps take an ingame screenshot with the UI up to show that it was in your inbox just in case it gets lost and you have to go talk to CS.

Buyer starts with 4 billion Inf, probably 2 on hand and 2 in gleemail or Market bids. Seller brings prime IO plus another 9 lesser IOs worth approximately 3 billion Inf total. Those other 9 probably need to be high end purples or PvP IOs. Buyer and seller do 3 trades where buyer trades 1 billion Inf for 3 or so of the lesser value IOs that are worth approximately 1 billion. This is a net even trade, so no one has gained or lost anything. In the 4th and final trade, the buyer offers his last billion plus the 3 billion in other IOs for the prime 4 billion IO. If someone runs off before the final trade, no one has really gained or lost anything.
If this is not what you meant above, then I Copyright (C) 2010, Patent, and Trademark the above as a TopDoc Trade (TM). Trading in the above manner is subject to a 1% sale price fee, payable via gleemail to @TopDoc.
Goodbye and thanks for all the fish.
I've moved on to Diablo 3, TopDoc-1304
Aha! I have just figured out how to make a fairly secure 4 billion Inf transaction. I think this is what you meant above...

I would seriously like to know how people amass 4 billion influence in the first place, some of these prices are just insane. I refuse to pay anything over 100 mil for ANYTHING ingame.

First of all, just sell it on WW. 2bill is the cap influence/infamy. You could easily slot 2 maybe more toons with that amount of money.
Second of all, a good idea for the devs is to up the 'pvp'/very rare Invention Os. I say that because people will buy money from a RMTer just to buy that "Item". I know how much NCSoft hates RMTers, but by lowering the drop rates the sales on very rare/pvp IOs will decrease some. Also will decrease the sales on RMT.
Third, good luck trying to sell that. While there is some on the market for 1-2bill. GL mooching more money from people to buy from RMT(90% sure).

- RMT (Real money trade) Don't do can get you ban and not worth it.. unless you're a no life.
- Playing the Market.
- Farm
- Afk pvp farming
- Sell stuff
- If you do AE for tickets, best to do 10-14bronze(heroes), 45-50 silver(villians) for quick money
Honestly, it's not worth it. SOs will do you better in the long run. SOs = same as a IO. Anything special with an IO is the set bonuses.

Have a few super rare PvP IOs drop, sell them, and bam, you're a billionaire.
Marketing. Really proficient marketers earn hundreds of millions a week.
Play your 50 a lot and sell your drops.
Considering the rarity of that specific IO, that's what it's worth. It's doable, but not for everyone. I personally run too many alts to spend that much on one. If I played one alt a lot, however, it'd be worth it.

It's possible to use this fact to jam large amounts of enhancement into a surprisingly small number of slots. I have particular combos of cheap IOs I usually slot my blasts and melee attacks with that, with level 30 IOs, gives me roughly the equivalent of 2 acc, 3 dam, 1 end, and 1 rech in only 5 slots. It's also possible to do things like 2 acc, 3 dam, 2 end, 2 rech with 6 slots. So even if you totally ignore set bonuses, there are still reasons why you might want to use set IOs.

I find it incredibly saddening the lengths people go to achieve things in these games. I mean seriously, if I was a parent of the kid who left his computer on all night to get a measly PvP IO, I would murder them as soon as I read my electric bill.

AFK PvP farming is quite common, and I didn't doubt it would and hence it leads you into the cycle of make ludicrous money = expend ludicrously = make ludi... etc.

Not exactly. While most do go for IOs for the set bonus, there are advantages to using them even if you never use two from the same set. A double aspect set IO actually has 5/8ths worth of a single aspect IO for each type of enhancement, so overall it offers a total enhancement equal to 1 and 1/4 generic IOs (or SOs, if you're using about level 25-30 IOs). A triple aspect IO has 1/2 of a single aspect's bonus to all three types, so it overall offers 1 and 1/2 of a normal IO's worth of enhancement.

Thanks for the negative Rep there MN
Some people don't use set bonuses, some people can't even afford them due to limited playing. SOs are cheaper. My uncles Willpower/fire scrapper can tank better than my willpower/fire tanker. He's SO'd, I'm fully IOS out. With all those neat procs and purples.
Thanks for the negative Rep there MN |
IO's can be cheaper than SO's and will perform better, in similarly built builds.

It makes perfect sense. Yes my builds are ****, thats why I can solo ITF on my archery/em blaster. Try finding a way to get 45/45 soft cap def along with 195recharge, perma hasten, and about 5-10seconds off perma hoarfrost.
Okay, IO's cannot be cheaper than a SO. SOs drop regularly within the type of origin mission you're doing. Also, SOs do not have a Crafting tax, and you don't need to take the time searching for the proper salvage for that IO.
E.x,
Invention: Accuracy.50 - Needed 454600 to craft. On top of that the salvage.
a L50 Accuracy SO costs 59k, alot cheaper and quicker. Even at this level you don't need to keep on buying them every 3levels.
Even tho I calculated all the SO accuracy prices together, the sum of all together is about 396,431. That's every 3 levels.
Blueside.
