Good News or Bad News?

Ok i just went on the test server to find that the devs have copied all the live server toons over and so i went on my plant/nrg dom. I pvp on her and she was in SC at the time so when i got on i found a new addition to pvp put on her called Protective Phase it's classified as Protected and a Dampening Field the description is: You are in a protected area and cannot be affected be foes who are not similarly protected.
and no this is not a trolling atmempt i'd put a screen shot in but for some reason the window won't show up when i use the prtscn button. The field seems to only be inside the villian hosp though (havn't checked hero hosp yet probably there too) Well anyway is this good or bad?

Hospital ganking is just low class, but at the same time, in Siren's, I can understand why it's done. You are assigned a target, and much of the time that target will just sit in the hospital forever making the zone's minigame pointless. The hospital gank is an (illegal) work around to this problem.

Reminds me of a time when I sat in the hospital with my stalker and just ganked the gankers time and time again. They tried and tried all kinds of different tactics to avoid me and get their target, but when you're hospital ganking your movement is pretty restricted or you get droned, making for easy kills for a Stalker.

TL;DR: I'm in favor of it unless I hear a compelling reason not to be.

Make that field cover the entire base. Make tp foe not work when inside the field....both ways. Get rid of all drones. I'd like that.

ok i just investigated a bit more and it looks like the field goes out to about the flier on the villian base but i still don't know about hero base (i'm too lazy to go on my hero pvper :P)

Not seeing it in RV on test at all.

It's active in WB though. If you get far enough from the flier (not so far as even the hospital) it vanishes. Close enough, and it reapplies. Currently, I'm respawning with full health.

Also, it triggers suppression. gg

Used to bug the life outta me that your most wanted bounty was sitting in base for 5hrs getting a badge!

Took it upon myself to do as much as humanly possible to get that target no matter where it was... And there were very few remote areas within the villain base that I couldn't get to.

So this is bad news.

If your gonna log into a pvp zone, expect to be hit.


Consciousness: that annoying time between naps.

The problem and the needed fix are both in the poorly designed bounty system.

Attacking from the safety of a base or being attacked while in it are just busted game mechanics. This change is a good thing... though it still falls a couple steps short of ideal.

to me, this looks like an attempt to limit droning.

if the safety zone is now larger but drones are at the same locations then getting too close and risking someone inside teleporting you in closer will not be possible, if the person cannot affect you until they are out of drone range(i would imagine, didnt test this myself).

this change doesnt affect me if its not in rv, but its nice to see inventive solutions to issues some players do complain about. i say good news.

this is very good news.

The safe zone is in weird spots in WB (didn't get a chance to check SC before I had to head into work.) Villside it's by the zone-in. Heroside it's kind of in-between the zone-in and hero hospital. I don't see why it's in those weird spots. I had my suspicions this may have been another anti-IO farm nerf (by preventing TP foe in a certain area) but based on the positioning in WB I can't see what they are trying to accomplish except maybe to prevent long distance sniping?

Wow, y'know, it'd be great if things like this were put in the patch notes so people could test them before they went live...

Seems like the only phase area in Siren's is inside the villain hospital, and an area between the hospital door and the helicopter (but there's a 30-foot gap between the door and where the phase area begins, rofl). There's one at the redside entrance to Bloody Bay as well, but again it's not enough area to cover the distance between the hospital and the helicopter. On the plus side, I was rezzing at full health and endurance every time.

I'm betting it's a bug. But that's good for us, since those don't get fixed in this game.

I meant that it would get fixed before our other bugs. Mainly because we would actually like this. Of course I can see an endless stream of melees doing laps soon.

I don't remember how early it was but yeah they changed it, and now we are back to normal. If only they would see the light and just go back to i12 with a few tweaks suggested by players.

Yes, and they had specific reasons why they made the change.

But apparently those reasons don't exist anymore. Kind of like speed boost and IR granting unsuppressed movement was a "mistake".....for 5 years. Or how they simply "didn't know" that a controller could spawn more than 1 pet if he had hasten.

It's funny, even when they do something that's good for PvP, they make themselves look bad in the process.
