I believe my current message is "Blind invite me if you'd like your testicles sauteéd".

You'd be amazed how few blind invites come my way.

One of my /kins has the message "I do not have Speed Boost." So far, no flack for not having it... but seriously, with the name Captain Slow, you should have been able to guess.

Yep, this is the basic form my search comments take as well.

The 'my level or higher' thing is valid and can be for any of a number of reasons. Personally, even with SSK, I don't like exemplaring. Within the 5 levels is 'okay' but in almost every team I've joined under those circumstances, at some point, the team winds up doing missions for the lowest member of the team (who is often outside that 5 level range). I have enough characters split across enough ranges to almost always be able to provide one without exemping outside the 5 level range. That's what I prefer to do.

I wouldn't go to the trouble of typing out the 'not looking for team' thing though. I'd just set my flag to 'not accepting invites' if it's an absolute type of situation (like when I'm playing at work). Otherwise, I'll take my chances and just continue turning down blind invites. Though I have noticed that there must've been an influx of newbies or something because I get 'lft?' tells when I'm on a team.

Telling them that greyed-out means already teamed doesn't help. They just call you a liar and insist that you join them. After all, you were available on THIER search, therefore you must be available to team with THEM.

I still believe that a tutorial on how to set/use the flags (as well as an update to the existing system) should be added to the game.

Well, I guess my SG could invite other people onto our teams... as long as they didn't mind listening to us chat about our day at work, what funny thing one of the cats did, a joke we heard, how our other games are doing, what one of my daughters said about her school work, etc., and just generally relaxing instead of grinding for xps.

It's an awesome system, and nobody uses it. A waste as is.

Some amusing answers in there, and a whole lot of ridiculous posturing and The Usual Garbage.

I'd expand upon that paragraph a lot, but that wouldn't really achieve anything for the vast majority of players, because they're not playing the game with people outside of their clique these days, and that, dear readers, is the BIGGEST problem this game faces.

So I'll only expand on it a bit. This is just my opinion, it doesn't need to be argued, disagreed or agreed upon by others, it's simply my opinion and the rationale behind that opinion.

Those people who are set to "SG only" in their search comments, (known quantity, only play with 'good' players, yada yada yada), there are many other 'good' players out there, that they will never meet. There are a lot of poor players too, and that can be annoying (I should know, I've played with most of 'em). But to limit yourself to SG only, that's really very very sad.

I reckon the reason people still put in 'my level or higher' is because they're still of the firm belief that getting levels -faster- is somehow more fun or something; they're also the kind of people who don't like to help others, and fail to see the obvious corollary -- if you're playing with people HIGHER than yourself, then you're abusing your own rule because it advantages you. You won't team with 'lower level' people but you'll happily team with 'higher level people'. Leechers do this. Socially maladroit scumbags do this. A lot of CoH players with 'my level or higher' in their search comment are self-labelling themselves as players I don't want to play with, it's a good thing.

I think I'll have to put in more interesting search comments, like "if are braindeath on a stick, then please avoid playing with me", I'm sure that will raise hackles across the board.

I put "I don't take blind invites" in all of mine. I've found that if a person can't be bothered to send a tell, the team most likely will not stick together for long. I wont even touch the fact that I've gotten more debt from the blind invite teams than I have from any other. I don't care if I level fast, I just don't like getting beat down because the team doesn't work well together.

Grin.

In my search notes I have "No teaming because I get lost easily, and I can't type fast"

The slow typing sounds funny, but, I have been accused of being snobby and stuck up because I can't type fast enough to both fight and join in on team conversations at the same time

Lisa.

I've been accused of not being very talkative. To which I respond...

"When I stop to chat someone dies." Inevitably, someone will usually die at this point, and everyone laughs.

My usual search comment is "Maybe". Oddly I almost never get blind invites when I use it. I don't understand why, but there you go...

Except on my pirate themed controller whose search comment is always "'Troller for sail"

There really is a simple explanation for this and I'm surprised no one has brought it up.

I have lots of toons and most of them will team with anyone. But I have one toon that is reserved for playing with RL friends we only get play together for a couple of hours every Tuesday. His search comment is SG Only because he is an SG only toon.

I'll put "teams my level or higher" if I'm not interested in losing access to powers - which is most of the time. Not gaining XP was only part of the reason I never liked Exemping.

With my level 50 characters I'm liable to put a message like "40+ only" or whatever minimum level I'm comfortable with.

The only odd thing I put into my listings is "No Duos Please". I've just had way too many bizarre and bad experiences in duo pugs. Its like Murphy Brown trying to find an administrative assistant, or Mary Tyler Moore's Marry Richards trying to get a date: I always seem to find the crazy ones. A team, even as simple as three, seems to increase productive and fun conversation, and mitigate disasters and mistakes.

Ask any woman, she'll tell you that "Maybe" means "No."

...so why not simply use the 'Not Looking For Team' option? If someone ignores that, then they're going to ignore 'SG Only' as well. Seems really asinine to plonk that in the comment, imo.

You would think that, but in practice it seems to work...for me anyway.

Because perhaps the character is NOT "not accepting invites"... perhaps the character is willing to accept invites FROM THEIR SG? Gosh... that's pretty amazing to think of.

The default search flag is "not seeking"... it's perfectly acceptable to put reasons why you're not seeking teams in your search comment and not change your flag. "SG character" is a perfectly valid reason why a character would not be seeking teams.

I use the "Not Accepting Invites" setting on my (Bots/FF) MM, but just in case it slips off, I put "Petless Trick Arrow" down.

Never said it wasn't valid. I said it was rather asinine - a bit pointless. If you're going to team with SG mates, chances are you're going to be - y'know - getting invites from them, rather than using the LFT tool.

I dunno, maybe it's just an amazing shock that people don't need stuff spelled out for their Supergroup members.

If you set yourself to decline all invitations, then your SG wont be able to invite you until you change the setting.

If you set yourself to not seeking, putting an explanation of why out there makes it more clear that you didn't simply forget or not have a chance to look.
