Hiya all

This has nothing to do with anything, but I was doing some missions last night and the dialog I got during one was just to funny not to share. Thought you'd get a chuckle for those who havn't seen this one.

“…Oh what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaught of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone so wrong?”

Doc Buzzsaw

lol! Reminds me of Prof. Farnsworth from Futurama.

Some people even called ME mad! And why? Because I dared to dream of creating a race of atomic monsters... atomic supermen with octagonal bodies that suck blood..."

EDIT: 1 more for the road:

"Sure, everyone's always in favor of saving Hitler's brain, but put it in the body of a great white shark... oooooh, suddenly you've gone too far!"

I blame Warwitch and her underlings for making a mockery of what should be serious and somber NPC mission dialog. How can we take our enemies seriously when they spout off so? Does levity really have any place in OUR game?

Oh quotes can be way more cool when your toons name is done right.
I am surprised how many times NPCs say some funny stuff to my name.
"Boring"

If you like Doc Buzzsaw's arc, you have to run Vernon von Grun once you get to level 45.

EDIT: and don't forget to say hi to Becky, the Tarantula Mistress! (better you than me...)

I ran across a funny one two nights ago that made me stop and laugh.

Was running through Port Oakes, and a Hellion minion said something on the lines of, "So you were standing in the oil when you lit the torch? I need to try that!"

I have gone to find myself. If I get back before I return, Keep me here!

Not a quote exactly, but the funniest line I've ever seen in-game was the description of a clue in a Newspaper mish:

Quote:
The Microchip
The chip is labeled "tp jammer". Wonder what it's supposed to jam. Toilet paper? Cruel, but hardly effective.

I don't like goofy and I don't like Vernon, but he DOES have one very memorable quote.

Quote:
Here it is, right in my notes! Looks like that page of the plan fell out of my 3-ring notebook. I knew I should have gone with spiral-bound. No matter!
I love how the man can turn the problem of shoddy stationary into a "Big nooo!"

*edit*
Got the right quote phrasing.

This has nothing to do with City of Heroes but it is STILL my favorite quote of all time:

"Democracy is two wolves and a sheep sitting down to decide what to have for dinner. Liberty is a well-armed sheep."
~ Benjamin Franklin

My mind wanders so often you've probably seen its picture on milk cartons. - Me... the first person version of the third person Steelclaw

Don't forget Dr. Forrester in the 40-45 range, too.

My favorite so far - from a police scanner mission:

"I'm gonna buy a sportscar, and then weld it to me. Like some kind of sportscar centaur.
The first Freakshow Sportaur! Or maybe Centcar? Ah, I'll work out the details later, but it's gonna be AWESOME!"

After you kill him I'm pretty sure someone else says something along the lines of 'Ah man, I was really looking forward to that Sportaur thing.'

Benjamin Franklin neither spoke nor wrote any phrase even approaching that one. However, James Bovard wrote in the Sacramento Bee in 1994: "Democracy must be something more than two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner." The same line appears in a book Bovard released later the same year; that's the first actual citation of anything approaching your quote, and that first appearance is more than 200 years after Franklin's death.

So, unless you're suggesting that Zombie Benjamin Franklin said it to Bovard... it's not a Benjamin Franklin quote.

And anyway, the version most commonly spread around the internet is "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote." (the word "lunch" did not enter the English language until several decades after Franklin's death, making it more bizarre that it would be attributed to him)

Unit 2 status downgraded to: 'Kinda funky'.

Unit 2 unable to attain positional lock on designation: Fleeting Whisper
Unit 2 reports status declining to: Unloved; Unwanted.

Unit 2 expresses thankful attitude towards Fleeting Whisper
Unit 2 upgrades evaluation of Fleeting Whisper from: 'Awesome' to: 'Totally Radical'.

Unit 2 projects offer of a thankful hug would make things awkward at this time.
