Hello all
I have a bind key syntax on one of my toons that I really like using for ease of travel. The bind key is set so that each time I hit my "G" key, It toggles on my super jump and auto run together, then when I hit the G key again, it turns off auto run, and switches from Super jump to Combat Jumping. This works perfectly on the one toon, however each time I try to copy/paste the syntax to another toon(s), it acts strangly. The first step I use is to log on my toon that has the bind key that works and use a /showbind G command which gives me this:
++autorun$$++up$$powexec_name Combat Jumping$$powexec_name Super Jump
I then highlight copy this, and switch toons. Then when I copy the line into the chat window with a "/bind g ++autorun$$++up$$powexec_name Combat Jumping$$powexec_name Super Jump" All that happens is my super jump is toggled on, I start jumping straight up in the air,and ++Autorun is shown in my chat window. Also I've noticed that the G key is set to autorun as well as the default R key.
Can anyone who understands what I'm doing wrong please help? Thank you veryu much in advance! -
Thanks Kheldarn!
Quick question for you, I think I understand that you can save /binds to the file, but I assume that if you have to have used the savefile before you load a bind? IN other words, while I will be able to use the /savefile command for the future, it will not show the /bind that I was hoping to find I have already used? -
Hiya
I was wondering if there was anyway to find out what binds you have on a character? I have a really nice super jump bind on one of my toons that I would like to use on others, but need to see what the syntax is I used. I was hoping there might be a file on my local or maybe an in game command to look up all binds are loaded? Thanks! -
Hello all
I've been an active player of the game for awhile now, but I have always had a issue with game files I would like to correct before Going Rogue goes live in a few weeks. When I originally started playing CoH/V, I tried the two week free trial first and downloaded the game files for it from the main game website. After the two weeks were up, I decided to continue playing, but instead going through the main site I used a game distributor application I have called Steam. I bought the game through them, and it upgraded and patched through their client.
The problem I have now, it that I seem to have two different folders, one of the original download from the main site, and the Steam download loaded in their application folder. To make matters worse I am using Windows Vista and they have their own ways of further confusing the issue. While the game is very much playable, there are issues with saved files not loading correctly. The best example is my key binding file that can be saved in game through the options menu. I have modified it many times and saved it, but any new toons I use will always log on with a strange hybrid version of the saved file (some key bindings will have saved, some won't have, etc.) Other issues are with saving costumes, or other customizations. I do know that anytime I go to save a new version of the key binds, that it will save it into the Valve folder, however it will still use the hybrid version that always loads.
What I would like to do, is to "divorce" Steam completely. I could really use help on this so that I don't miss files, or make Vista angry. I know this is probably a niche issue that most don't have, but can any assist so that I can make this transition smoothly?
Thank you in advance for any and all help! -
Hello all
I was hoping to post a help me question in the Technical help, but I can't seem to find the appropriate forums. I thought I had posted there before but not having any luck. Could someone please point me in the right direction? Thank you! -
Hello all
I've been having a blast with my Kinetic/Electric Defender and have reached a point where I'm starting to look into fleshing out my defenses (I solo a lot) One area that I'm having problems with is stun resist/reduction. I've been looking at I/O set bonus, but not having any luck. The ones I've searched for from Red Tomax are four set deep and are really only 1-3 percent which I think is a bit unrealistic to slot for. Is there any suggestions on how to get some stun reduction/resist for a defender? Thanks in advance for any help! -
Hello all
I was playing around with the Peacebringer/Warshade classes, and if anything I've gotten very curious about the lore of the Kheldian race now. One item of lore that I can't quite figure out is the actual process that is gone through during the merger of a Kheldian/Nictus with another race. How does this work? Does a human go through some bureaucracy and "apply" to get a Kheldian? Do the Kheldian find and ask independently? What is the actual procedure to merge the two together? I read the back story guide at http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=114391 and BTW, thanks for posting that! Really makes me interested in the class. Just didn't see the answers there.
Also, I know that several of the CoH official comics deal with this subject, but off hand does anyone know which ones?
Thanks for any answers to my questions! -
Thanks for the help!
Quick question, if I wanted to modify the keybind so that it would target nearest friend and cast on hitting the period key from the numberpad would this be the correct syntax? Was thinking that way it wouldn't be dependant on the person being grouped with me
/bind . "+ target_friend_near$$powexec_name speed boost"
Edit: Just tried it in game, had to switch from the period to the "z" button but it works fine! Thanks for the help all. This should make things much easier. -
Thanks Diggis
I've trying it in game right now. My exact syntax with it is
/bind (.) "+team_select 1$$powexec_name speed boost"
I even tried to use 1$$powerexec but so far nothing. closing in on it though -
Thanks Diggis! That's exactly what I need. Do you happen to know where you found that so I can check the syntax on it? gonna log on right now and try it
appreciate the help!

Hello all
I apologize for posting in defender instead of help/macro but I thought since this was specific to a defender issue it would be better here. I have a Kin/Electric defender and i'm looking for some help with Speed Boost. I was wondering if there were any, ahem, shortcuts to buffing the team with it? I was thinking in terms of macros, key binds, etc? I don't even know if macros can be used in that way (not very proficient with them at all.) But any suggestions would be helpful. Just looking for way to stop having to halt everything evey two minutes and selecting/casting on everyone...course this is probably just something I'll have to suck up and get used to doing. Thanks in advance for any help! -
Greetings
I'm just started a DP corrupter...again....lol...and wanted to get some thoughts on taking Empty Clip and Bullet Rain. I tried these two before and was very under whelmed by the damage and thought the aggro at low level was a bit much to handle. However as I haven't really tried it more then to level 10, I was curious if most people thought these would be good to take? I think my build would be able to take one or the other of these at around 8 or so but didn't know if I should. Any comments suggestions are appreciated -
Quote:Sorry my fault, I wasn't being clear I guess. The question isn't about slotting (though I realize I made strong reference to it - I thought it would help giving specific info on that). I actually do have them all three slotted already for recharge.the best slotting you can do with SOs on those IMO would be to 3 slot each of them with rech reductions
The question was more about how to use the three in combo to maximize cooldown time with them. Sorry for the confusion. -
Hello all
I realize this is old hock and has been discussed many times, but my search-fu is weak(sauce). I'm playing a Ill/rad controller and need some help with the combination of Accelerate metabolism, Hasten and Phantom Army. I'm not slotting for purples or I/O's yet, and so far I'm constrained to using DOs and So's. I'm also not under the illusion that I will be able to perma PA yet. My goal at the moment is only to maximize how i'm using the three so that cool down time is at a minimum. right not I'm trying out two different strategies. The first is to run with AM independent of PA and Hasten and just use that whenever it's available and then hasten immediately after PA. This seems to give me about 35 seconds downtime with PA and about one and a half minutes with AM. The other strategy is that use AM and hasten immediately after PA, which seems to give me a tad less cool down on PA and about minute on Hasten and AM. I've also tried to juggle AM and hasten so that when one goes down I'm using the other immediately and then using PA as available. Can't tell you the numbers on that one tho.
My question is for anyone experienced with running these which of them (or other ways you know of and I don't) is the best to maximize AM and PA? Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated! -
Quote:LOL! Well Harvey Wallbanger was taken but Wallbanger wasn't! Thanks! Spent a moment to write a preliminary story for the inept hero/villainWell, I got yer name...
"Harvey Rusco was an amateur spelunker who reveled in exploring the hidden caves around his home in Mercy Islands. When he was clued into a cavern that reportedly went over a mile deep, his sense of adventure was to much to resist, and set out straight from the bar he had been holed up in. Upon entering the cavern he noticed the strange reddish glow of the crystals that surrounded him and naively turned his lamp off in order to use the natural light. Only a few hundred feet into the cave his feet came up from under him and he started to slide faster then he could correct for, and began ricocheting off of the walls around him. Unknown to him, these same caverns had been visited many times before by heroes and villains alike, and they too had fallen and bounced off these same walls, however the crystals had absorbed the powers of these meta humans, and now gave Harvey a portion of them even if he didn't want them..."
Still don't know what his AT or primary or secondary is..but it's getting closerhehe

Hello all
While talking with my group this afternoon we came across an idea for a new toon that I think I want to try. The idea was that a spelunker in one of the many caves dotted across the games landscape. While he/she is exploring they come in contact with the cave walls that many a hero/villian have bounced off of in thier adventures (come on, you know you've done it a few times as well..it's why we all hate the cave maps). The walls have absorbed the genetic material of the others (thinking of using the red crystals that rogue islands has as an explination here.) The charecter would then have gained their powers through the transference from the cave walls.
The powers themselves I was thinking would have something to do with "bouncing" as there would be a kinetic feel to the toon (thinking of "Wallbounce, Cavebounce, etc as a name). I know the most obvious in many ways would be a earth build but somehow it seemed...to easy..I thought maybe you all might have some better ideas. I really thought the idea of creating this toon as a symbolic gesture of my most hated map type would be fun to play. Any thoughts would be appreciated! Thanks all! -
Ok that's what I needed to know thanks! Question is though I tried to do this last night and I couldn't find the "Select task" button. I'm pretty sure I was leader to since I invited the team. Will try it again and see if it works. Appreciate it

Hiya all
This has nothing to do with anything, but I was doing some missions last night and the dialog I got during one was just to funny not to share. Thought you'd get a chuckle for those who havn't seen this one.
Oh what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaught of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone so wrong?

Hello all
I have a very basic question about the game that I need to know now that I haven't had to worry about yet. I have a job to kill an elite boss that I need help with, and I know there's some mechanic about creating a team to get everyone on the job to make it the active job for the team, but I need to know how to do this. Can anyone please let me know? I would really appreciate itThanks in advance.

Hello all
I was thinking about an idea I had and wondered if anyone has tried this. With the introduction of issue 16 and the ability to customize power colors I was thinking that using that to keep track of anchors might be doable. I've tried several times to customize my Radiation anchors (Enervating field, Radiation infection) so that the coloring would be more predominant on the anchor then those around him/her in the power field. I've had very little luck getting it to work the way I wanted though. My goal was to use the primary color so that it would show only on the toggle and the secondary color so that it would be the effected field color. I'm thinking that it can't work this way, but wanted to see if anyone else has tried this before I give up on the idea. Thanks much! -
Hello all
I'm going to restart my duel pistols toon on my new server and wanted to try to do it right this time. My original one didn't work Imo. If any of you fine outstanding criminals who've gone down the road could look my build over I would appreciate it

I just picked up what I think is a decent crafted enhancement off the black market and wanted to make sure I understand it before I slot it. It's called Kinetic Combat: Knockdown bonus. The description says it adds 20% chance to knockdown your foe. However I'm unclear on if this will only proc on the power you slot it in or does it give all melee damage abilities the same 20% chance? Reason I'm asking is I was thinking of slotting it in my brawl power if it is a universal 20%. any thoughts, comments please? Thank you -
Hello all
I was thinking last night while doing a mission about one element of the game that really can be annoying (at least to me.) That is the "Hide-and-seek" I've had to endure at the end of many a mission. Hide and seek being that aggravating search for that one last villian/hero you have to take out, or that one last bomb you have to set/defuse, etc. A lot of times these are the ones that are hidden behind crates or under that pair of stairs in the far corner of the first floor you swear you looked behind. The idea I had though was a droppable "clue" that would trigger after X amount of the objectives had been met. Suppose it went something like this. Your mission has you going in to steal computer files and arm four bombs. After you've killed 80% of the guards and stolen the files, you get a drop from one of the remaining guards that would put a target blip on the map for the remaining one or two things you need. Something along the lines of a "Intelligence briefing" that the guard would have had detailing the threat (you) and to keep them away from item A, B, C,D (the bombs to be armed.)
I just thought it might be a reasonable way to speed up the search for the final mission objective. I know i've had many nights where I would be running back and forth looking over hell and back for that last one or two items in a map that I just can't seem to find.
Anyway, what do you all think? -
I was wondering if anyone could help me understand how magnitude works on powers please? I know that minions/lieutenants/ and bosses all have a 1, 2, or three magnitude resistance respectively, but some of the powers I'm looking at that are available to take for my characters have listings on Mids of -10 magnitude to to effects K. I'm a little unclear on what that means. (Kuji-in Rin for the Ninja stalker list -10.5 to several status effects for example.) Any help or links to reading would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

thanks guys. I'll admit that one of the key reasons I wanted to try it was to experiment with the idea of a pseudo placate. The description has the sleep length as about 5-8 seconds on the three I think and I was thinking that if you could hit and sleep then stop attack, you could theoretically slip back into stealth while they slept. I don't think it would work in practice but that was the idea at least. Of course the same tactic could work for energy if indeed it worked at all.
