'Looking For' Not used?
most poeple are too lazy to change the flags because all of them but the "not accepting invites" flag resets upon logging or even zoning sometimes
other times is just because poeple are too lazy/dont know how to change their flag
honestly, this whole search interface needs a lot of QoL improvements
It is worth setting your LFT flag since team leaders will often use them as the first set of invites. However a lot of people don't bother setting them for pretty much the reason Necro said.
Lazy people...
It can also be people forgetting to set it. I always set mine to "Looking for anything" unless I'm specifically not interested in joining a team, but some times I'll log on and if the search window's not open, I won't even think about it.

Most of the other flags are a bit more specific than my wants (looking for patrols - surely not)
So i use the comments fields to put 'looking for mission teams and Tfs' of the like.
I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.
Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.
So sad to be ending ):
i see most people doing this, just putting a specific comment in the search field is much easier to do (as it persists through zoning and logging and can be changed to somerthing specific to what you want to do per day)

I don't think I appreciate being called "lazy" for not taking the next step of actually setting the flag each & every time the silly thing resets itself.
Not exactly the best way to make friends and influence people. Many react to it the same way BaBs does.

This is pretty much what I do.

I rarely set it since, most of the time, I'm ambivalent about teaming. I might join a team if invited but I'm not really looking for one. On those occasions when I do want to team, I'll set my flag unless I start my own. There doesn't seem much point to do it (and in actuality I don't even think about it) if I'm sending out invites myself.

i believe i said "most" not "all" people are too lazy to change it, i know i dont change it because it doesnt persist through zoning/logging, and im sure there plenty of others out there that do the same thing as you and me and ignore the system because it doesnt work properly

Some of the flag settings make no sense, but i guess they're left over from launch when standard MMO conventions informed a lot of the interface design. At that time open world hunts for 200 rats, street hunts or whatever were more the norm, so a "Looking for patrol" flag may have made sense. Nowadays it makes little to no sense at all as a teaming flag.

For me the LFT setting usually lasts until i log out or join a team. Frequently it persists after i log in a new alt.

I was more peeved at OP over his naked comment "Lazy people"without the "most" qualifier.

There really needs to be a Looking for More (LFM) tag for group leaders to set on themselves.

Agreed on the ltm flag I get more "LFM?" these days even when not looking!
If it helps, I ALWAYS put up my tag.
I also get tells asking me to join, when no tag is up. Which I don't mind at all.
But I never use the "NOT LOOKING FOR TEAM" tag.

Far as I'm concerned, we don't need more flags so much as we need a system for automated team generation, where the game will try to put you in either a team as close to your specifications, or in as big a team as close to your level range as it can manage. Most people want "just teams" anyway, despite what the few of us more focused people here on the forums insist, and such a system would basically satisfy the great masses and take care of the "I can't get a team!!!" problem.
Beyond that, the team finding interface is actually not that bad for building a team. What it sucks at is FINDING a team.

I use the 'looking for' flags very rarely.
Most often I just stick with the comments section.
Although...does ANYONE still use the 'looking for patrols' option? It seems like a vestigal tongue.
Eastern Standard Time (Australia)
is 15 hours ahead of
Eastern Standard Time (North America)
which is 5 hours behind
Greenwich Mean Time (GMT)
I use them all the time too. No idea they had a habit of dropping though.
A "Team looking for members" system would be a godsend, something I've wanted for aaaages.
My usual answer is that I keep the flag up because I am looking for a team, but not just any team. I am, "screening my call" of sorts.
"Samual_Tow - Be disappointed all you want, people. You just don't appreciate the miracles that are taking place here."

i'd suggest that a Looking For More flag would be a good replacement for the Looking For Patrol flag, but implementing it would require recoding part of the team interface. It's still a good idea in my opinion, and it's possible that something like it is already in the works.
i wonder if this proposal has already been posted in Suggestions. It seems obvious enough that i would expect it has. It's not the first time this topic has come up.

I use the looking for any flag, but I have trouble noticing a difference between looking for a team with it set and looking for a team without. I get the impression a lot of team leaders don't bother looking for the flags any more than people bother setting them (possibly the former is due to the latter mind you).
I'd love to see an LFM interface where people can get a list of teams flagged as LFM, their current team size, level range, etc. Bonus points for being able to "self invite" onto the team (which would be an option the team leader could enable, and would allow setting criteria - e.g. level range - on who can join in that way). I'd be more inclined to "lead" teams that way (I'm lazy), and obviously it'd help finding them (assuming people used it of course).
A question of sorts.
The Looking For flags just not used? / A waste of time?
During a moment of random curiosity and watching the same person broadcast they were looking for a team 9 times in five or so minutes I looked at the search to see if he had a flag going. I got nothing. I checked all the flags including 'Do Not Accept Invites' and hit search. There were 11.
A full-ish search pointed out over 300. Not that it shows all of them but over 300 poping up on the search and just 11 using the flags?
Are they really that much of a lost cause?
