'Looking For' Not used?
A question of sorts.
The Looking For flags just not used? / A waste of time? During a moment of random curiosity and watching the same person broadcast they were looking for a team 9 times in five or so minutes I looked at the search to see if he had a flag going. I got nothing. I checked all the flags including 'Do Not Accept Invites' and hit search. There were 11. A full-ish search pointed out over 300. Not that it shows all of them but over 300 poping up on the search and just 11 using the flags? Are they really that much of a lost cause? |
just a thought

I was disappointed that the I17 UI upgrades did not include the team search function, though I still hold hope that it will arrive with Going Rogue (gotta have a different way to search for vigilantes and rogues)
i see most people doing this, just putting a specific comment in the search field is much easier to do (as it persists through zoning and logging and can be changed to somerthing specific to what you want to do per day)

Personally I don't bother to change my "LF...."whatever comment when I know I'm going to be shopping/crafting for the next half-hour, even though I know I should.
But if you're wondering, people such as I, who LIKE to form and Lead teams (a small minority, admittedly), DO hit up the LFMissions- and LFAnything-flagged players first.
I will even hold a space on a nearly-full team if I haven't yet heard back from a player flagged as such (for a little while, anyway).
As a Former/Leader, I really do appreciate those who go to the trouble of setting it appropriately. And I will happily hit you up if you're flagged but in a mish, as there have been times when I've gone solo for lack of a team, but left my flag lit, hoping someone will drag me out of that solo mish to join a good team.
I search the LFTs first but only within a certain level range, even after SSK I don't expect level 40's to be wanting to join a level 14 team unless they're quite desperate.
I did have an incident once where I formed a mission team and right before we entered I sent out a broadcast that we were full, so that someone who just checked their broadcast now didn't see the previous call and think that the team was still forming. Suddenly I get this irate tell "Why didn't you invite me?"
"You never asked for an invite."
"I was marked LFT! Can't you read?" (oh that is endearing)
I search his name and he is marked LFT. He is also level 50 and this is a level 14 team (and was advertised as such) nor does his search comment say anything about being willing to exemp. Nor did he answer the broadcasts I had sent out for the last several minutes.
All it got him was a 1-star and an ignore in the end.

Arc #271637 - Welcome to M.A.G.I. - An alternative first story arc for magic origin heroes. At Hero Registration you heard the jokes about Azuria always losing things. When she loses the entire M.A.G.I. vault, you are chosen to find it.

Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.
What would be nice is a feature similar to Aeon's.
Say, for example, the team leader presses CTRL+F12 (or some other hot key). When she does so, a message appears in the Request channel, like this:
Ms. Indubitable: Lvl 25 Team LFM in Talos Island. Now, anyone who sees that message can click on it. When they do, a small window pops up that displays the current team composition, with the team's active mission displayed, and a Join button.
If the user clicks the Join button, a window appears on the team leader's client, displaying the applicant's archetype, level, and powersets. The leader and accept or deny the application.
Although...does ANYONE still use the 'looking for patrols' option? It seems like a vestigal tongue.

Usually, I am flagged with the big red "NOT ACCEPTING". If I get an interest in a particular team that is advertising or a friend logs on, I switch it to "Looking for Patrol" and ask for the invite.
If I switch my flag to any of the other flags, I run the risk of being snagged with someone who is legitiimately looking for one of those other things (Missions, TFs, Any, etc.) and do not wish to waste thier time or mine with "Sorry, was looking for a team, but not yours."
Personally, l think that the whole thing should be revamped. Maybe a "Looking for AE"? But also, some sort of tutorial in it's use or at least a much greater awareness that we even have a flag system. It's bad that when hitting L4, the trainer tells me "To invite others to team, right-click on them!". Back Alley Brawler is telling me to blind-invite by line-of-sight? Whaaaaaaaat? That's just wrong.
It is used redside on Virtue quite often.

I use it all the time, and it's very helpful when you're the leader and LFM. This is especially true when you're having a hard time filling a team and you've randomly messaged a bunch of people from the general pool without success. When you search again, it's a pain figuring out who you may have already asked, and who you haven't.
Being able to flag yourself as looking for members would make things much easier though.
I dunno, I wouldn't mind a "Looking for badges" option. I get many irate team leaders when I leave "looking for any" with "Just LF X badges" in the comment section. And the "patrol" never gets any hits if I use that instead.
Beyond that, the team finding interface is actually not that bad for building a team. What it sucks at is FINDING a team.
We need a looking for more tag, and/or a way of IDing the leader from searchs, hiding the 'not looking' from searches and we need to be able to look for cross faction in cross faction zones./whoall can help for that within the zone, but often I resort to dual boxing an alt that can search the other faction.
I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.
Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.
So sad to be ending ):
