Good Build for Sirens Call?
Well title pretty much says it all. im looking for a build, doesn't bother me on the AT, just no trollers. If someone could help me out that wuld be very much appreciated!
BTW keep in mind that its for SC PvP |
With the bounty system the way it is in SC, I had a blast with a /Traps toon. I barely had to move... the zone just kept sending folks my way to die. It was funny.
I'm actually suprised more peeps haven't rolled /Traps defenders for PvP.

Last time I saw someone not just be completely awful on a traps toon was back in i12 I think with irl. And he still wasn't going around taking the zone apart, more or less just not dying a whole lot.
Because Defender Dmg is for the most part lol. That combined with a primary that almost adds nothing to help you in PvP, it makes for a pretty awful toon.

A well built /Traps toon is more than viable in PvP.... especially in SC. I just haven't rolled a defender version, but knowing that the debuffs from one would be stronger than my Corr is enough to let me know a /Traps defender could cause a lot of hurt for a team of villians. (Main reason I mentioned defender version was for the obvious stalker protection it would provide in SC)
Also defenders are support... who rolls a defender for damage? Nevermind silly question.

I didn't know defenders had /Traps in I12.

I've only seen traps viable in team pvp and the arena. You can't force someone to stay in your traps zone in zone pvp, even with tpfoe. The removal of -maxrunspeed hurts trops and if you can get someone to stay next to poison gas trap or seeker drones or trip mines after the no phase second ends after a tp, then hats off to you for fighting an idiot.
And lol stalker protection from traps, there are more drive by thunderstrikes and impale spamming than AS's going off.
Bottom line is Im not going to stand in your bad traps field, if Im on any toon Ill kite it if you wont move. Or just use the range provided in almost every toon to almost completely negate it.
Oh and I rolled defenders to do damage. When combined with debuffs to the opponent, they used to be able to do solid damage, atleast for a non damage primary class.
And just to be a bigger *** hole, defenders never had nor will ever have /Traps. GG
I love traps users. I love flinging blinding powder at them and seeing their traps go off on them. XD

oh and for the OP, why only SC, not that I like zone PvP other than for when there is nothing else going on, just wondering why only for SC??
OLD SCHOOL PvP
Rad/Psi,Psi/Em,Fire/Em,Cld/Sonic,FF/Sonic,Grav/Ta,Storm/Psi,Sp/WP,Fire/Psi,Sonic/Pain
RIP:Southern Comfort PvP,PE PvP,INTEGRITY PvP,After School Special PvP Test SG's,TPvPL Season1+2 Runner ups
Well since you can't read and assumed I said Traps/ Defender and not traps toon, I can see where the problem started. Irl used a traps corr. I didn't say anything about a defender, nice job.

I didn't come to make you angry.
The purpose of the Traps set is to trap people... not to get kills, but to get others to kill themselves. For that reason, standing in the open where some can kite you would be a silly idea when solo. (standing in the open at half heath long enough for someone to see you before hopping back to your "nest" of traps that isn't in the open is less silly believe it or not) It isn't true that you can't force people into your traps. If you take away certain options, you leave your opponent no choice.
Here's an example. You lay a row (not a stack) of 5 trip mines between a building and an elevated curb. Place posion mines at the start of the row. Go out an aggro somebody, just enough to let them know you're easy money. Web them and retreat, and tp them at the start of the row before the posion mines. The regen stops, only way to go is down a row of hopefully well-slotted trip mines (-res proc and dmg procs are beastly with them). By the time the bombs go off the vomitting starts, seekers hit, another set of seekers stacks, acid has kicked in... all while you've been attacking freely since tping them.
If you were to replace that location with another there are 100 others just like that in any given zone. All thats needed is an area with limited access to/from once webbed. The smaller the better, the larger the funnier. Besides that its just about surviving the pull.
Caltrops aren't need for slows... they're needed to keep people from SS stealthing your mines. Theres a special emote called /LOL that people can do while standing on your mines with SS/stealth if you don't have caltrops on them at some point. Making sure they're webbed before getting to you helps as much though.
Most stalkers won't stay around to finish a job solo once webbed and hit with acid trap's longish DoT. In SC without sharks and AS as viable options against opponents with usually better than average regen and defense, I don't see them being impaled to death... just saying Traps/ is not a bad bet.
The funny thing is no one really has to stand in a traps field. The smartest and dumbest players alike all try to kill the squishies... Hell people act like npcs more than npcs do some time. "Uh He went under that bridge so I can't kite him now... what do I do?? I know I'll go under the bridge to get him cause his attack were like lol and I took half his heath... ah ****!" Tp Bombing is still a tatctic of course but isn't required to get kills. I'd reccommend to learn to get kills without TP foe before trying to learn how to use it in the current system.
I guess the approach is far from the norm so less often seen as a reason.

Just make the lines touch people.
You'd catch me with a single mine maybe, but never standing on my own Posion traps or multiple mines.

I actually have seen a Traps Def in Freedom Sirens Call lately. He's not a bad PvPer and his build is alright I guess, but I haven't died to him once on any of my villians. His damage is pretty LOL and the only thing he has that concerns me at all the the webnades, and only then because I know a Blaster will be breathing down my neck in a few seconds if I don't kill the fool.
I really just can't see anything that Traps could bring to a Defender that TA can't do better.
I would recommend a stalker if your new. I rolled a spines/wp to sort of farm for io's due to easy kills, he is quite survivable out #'d. If you roll a vill other than a stalker u will find it frustrating most of the time.
If you go hero everyone else is giving the same advice i would. Just go blaster Fire, Sonic, Psy or Rad paired with /em or /dev. Maybe a fire/regen scrapper but most I have seen there only lol fiteclub so not sure how good they can be.
"One day we all may see each other elsewhere. In Tyria, in Azeroth. We may pass each other and never know it. And that's sad. But if nothing else, we'll still have Rhode Island."
This will work once, maybe twice. Once it becomes known what you are doing, it will only work against very bad players.

TA offers many of the same debuffs as Traps but none of the buffs (mez resist and +regen) It's a disruption and a mobility set, while Traps is a... well trapping set and/or turtling set. Traps also offers more so than any other set for defenders and Corrs and MMs, the abilty to eat lunch and/or multi-task while actively engaging in PvP.
Which is why you will only get kills against very stupid people, or people that aren't paying attention.

It doesn't take much to learn what it takes to get someone to try an kill you once. Getting someone to try and kill you often isn't much harder though, not with all the lol egos out there.

I don't actually remember the last time I saw anyone die to a Trapper. Mostly they just stand there and whine because everyone is smart enough to simply avoid them because they're a non-threat otherwise.

I speak no defender in particular... or better yet perhaps I speak of one I haven't rolled yet I suppose, since the idea of a good one seems crazy here. I was gonna wait to roll a CotM (Concept)Traps/DP defender later that I'm sure I could make work somehow... thinking something along the lines of seekers + chem ammo, -DMG specialist for teams or something.
Nah I'm speaking mostly on Traps in PvP in general. My text comes from PvP experiece with a /traps corr named Venenix for the last 2 years at home on Virtue although I vacationed on Freedum several times. (More noise than good PvP IMO) I've rolled a few Traps/ defenders... enough to notice better debuffs and key powers offered sooner than later... I just haven't leveled or specc'ed one out for PvP.
Hey. I'm just saying Traps is a more than viable set for SC. It doesn't play like all the others, but is very capable of getting killls when played right solo despite what many people believe, and as already agreed upon... capable of contributing to team PvP. It isn't easy to be great with, but it doesn't take a seasoned PvP'r to get good with.
If any of you seasoned PvPers get tired of the same ol' approach with every toon, or if any new PvPer wants to roll something without breaking out the cookie cutter and still have a blast in PvP... I highly reccomend a Traps toon. You can be successful, get kills, get laughed at, save lives, bruise egos, strike absolute fear in the minds of melee players, get smarter, and blow people up all at the same time.

Sorry I was asleep for your walls of text rebuttles.
I don't know how many bad pvpers are on Virtue now, I haven't PvPed there since i11 but if they make you think you can just lay traps and "let them kill themselves", well I guess I don't need to argue with you.
You go ahead playing a bad non MM trapper and Ill go ahead and keep laughing. Hope to catch a webnade soon...

A good excuse... if server transfers weren't free atm. Don't be afraid to learn _Lith_
... and don't let the smoove taste fool you.

Sorry, I look forward to "learning" from you when I get back in about a year.
Also, loltraps. GG
Well I would but I can't exactly get on the game at the moment. Afghanistan has poor internet connections.

All the good pvpers are transfering to virtue for traps lessons.
Duel me.
I will work on my sig pic more when I have time.
Remember guys, this is the dude who uses Wormhole and TP foe for damage.
Dahjee, reinventing the wheel since. . . .
Wait, I really don't care about these guys.
