Hey CoX'ers. So last night i booted up CoH again for the first time in about a year or so, and i was surprised to see so many new things! Seems like the game has been getting some big changes recently, its nice to see CoX progress (probably due to the harsh competition from CO).

A few things are pretty new to me, ive had a look through the issue update notes but there are still a few things im all nooby about.

Firstly, whats the deal with the new SK system? as far as i can tell, everyone is sk'd to the level of whoever holds the active mission right? I guess this will make teaming even easier which is cool, as the reason i stopped playing champions online was because how rare it is to get a team going compared to CoX.

Also, this new ultra mode sounds pretty awesome (if a little overdue ), and so far from what ive seen it will revamp the environments...but what about the character models? are they getting any treatment at all?

Ive also been seeing a nifty new movement animation around, whats the story with that? it looks cool!

The community seems as cool as always, and the power customization is nice! lets hope GR pulls more people in to the game so CoX can continue to grow! to be honest i was expecting CO to damage CoX pretty badly, but its more than holding its own!

Nice to be back

SK system: It's called Super-Sidekicking now, and yeah, it pretty much works the way you described.

Ultra Mode: So far the only model revamps we know about are for the Praetorian AVs to match the revamped Praetoria we'll be seeing.

New movement animation: Ninja Run from the Natural Booster Pack.

Welcome back!

The character models on Ultramode will have reflective materials for one. That was demonstrated at Hero Con.

To see pretty much all the goodness we've seen so far regarding Ultra mode, check out the full video from Hero Con 2009

And welcome back!

My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

Someone mentioned Ninja Run . . . you have to purchase the Martial Arts Pack for $10 bucks real money, but I find it easily worth it. This is a new travel power that becomes available at level 4, and with Hurdle is actually faster than base fly. Think of Ninja Run as Sprint+Combat Jumping on steroids. A lot of folks are skipping an actual travel power and just using Ninja Run + Hurdle, plus the Raptor Pack to get over anything you can't jump over. The animation includes a nice-looking flip in mid-air as you jump, and you get a lot of control over your jumps.

By the way, the level restrictions have been removed for the Hazzard zones. Now your level 1 character can go to the Rikti War Zone and the Shadow Shard. In the Shard, you can buy a Raptor Pack for 10,000 Infl if you don't want to earn it or the original one runs out.

LOCAL MAN! The most famous hero of all. There are more newspaper stories about me than anyone else. "Local Man wins Medal of Honor." "Local Man opens Animal Shelter." "Local Man Charged with..." (Um, forget about that one.)

I think they did mention character revamps to characters with metal or glass in their costumes. They're gonna be SHINY and REFLECTIVE!

to TO THE END!
Villains are those who dedicate their lives to causing mayhem. Villians are people from the planet Villia!

Yes. Specifically, "this is great for shields, or armor, or any piece of metal or glass." So, theoretically, weapon blades as well.
