I imagine a lot of players have already rolled an evil version of at least one of their heroes, or a good version of one of their villains, and when GR is released I expect Praetoria to be full of alternate versions of people's main characters*, so a doppleganger system would possibly be a bit redundant for those characters.
I'm thinking of doing a 'good' version of Nightshade, but since Nightshade is a corrupt ex-cop her good version would probably be an honest cop, and since the police in Praetoria are loyalists and therefore (in theory) villains now I'm wondering would she actually be 'good' ?

The relation does not go both ways. The Shadow Shard, for instance, is an alternate universe without being a mirror universe in the slightest.

Wouldn't the more appropriate gender specific term for a male witch be "War Warlock?"
Which, yes, would sound quite stupid, but would be more apropros than War Wizard.

For instance, the Evil Statesman from Evil Earth would be a mirror of the Evil Statesman from Primal Earth (you know he is!), but the robot double of the now-dead Ambivalent Statesman from Ambivalent Earth would not be a mirror of the Evil Statesman from Primal Earth. He would be an in-world construct that just happens to resemble a mirror image.

Since I read the announcement about I17 I have thought dopplegangers but we won't know for sure until we get more info.
But I was thinking if it was dopplegangers wouldn't it be interesting if they didn't just copy your power sets but also your set bonuses! Could make for some interesting fights!

Not everyone has a living doppleganger. Recluse's counterpart was killed. (A mirror would be that Recluse would be a hero. Spider-Man?) Nemesis' counterpart died as a simple toymaker. It's a place where history took a left turn where ours took a right, and the rippling cause-and-effect added up to quite a different place, but not 100% opposite in every way. |

A doppleganger setup might provide you with a customized foe based on your own powers and costume, but you wouldn't be the one customizing it. Well, you would, but not in the same manner as a "nemesis" system. I think that's a big enough difference. There might not be the opportunity for you to create The Joker to your Batman, but the game might be able to create a "Dark Batman" (yeah, I know - nevermind that the Crime Syndicate version of Batman is Owlman...)
I thought when Dark Mirror was first announced that they might be introducing maybe an arc or two dealing with the leadup to GR/Praetoria where you encounter your Praetorian counterpart. I still think that's a possibility, and I think it would be pretty neat.

War Witch's post is implying there's not going to be a whole "system" based on this similar to the CO Nemesis system. That means there is no ongoing hardwired arcs related to doppelgangers or Nemesi or anything like that. While it might be cool if the GR content had a mission where you were forced to play against a Praetorian clone of your character I just don't see that as being worthy of an entire system on a brand new expansion beyond that single scenario.
