i dont know if there a thread about it but here something that could be fun.
it would be fun if heroes could go to the rogue isle (but not turn villain like GR will bring.) and pvp with the villain there and vice versa. i think it would bring more peep to the rogue isle and paragon. the bad: of course griefer and ganker will start to apear. but the good side is the rogue isle will no longer be a ghost town :-( |

Your suggestion comes up rather frequently, and the answer is generally what you see in this thread so far. Checking the other thread linked by tanstaafl lists a few more arguments why not.

Well if something like this were to work, you would need a switch to turn PVP on or off.
But then again you can access the arena from anywhere now...

Redside isn't a ghost town. I don't know what server/play times you are on, but it's always packed for me.

I think the OP was making a comparison to heroes. Redside on Freedom, the most populated server, rarely gets above 350 players total during peak times. Compare that to heroes which can easily get above 1000 players total during peak hours, and it's easy to see why some players would consider the Rogue Isles a ghost town. Add to that the fact that a good number of those are squating in Cap for the AE and market and not doing much in the way of missions, and it looks pretty bad. If Freedom is that low on villians, I shudder to think what the other servers are like.
In the past I played a game that open-world, always-on PvP - Ulitma Online. I HATED it. Ganking and griefers were rampant. Your corpse could be looted of all its items, so that meant fo me at least that I never took my best equipment with me, ever, because I didn't want to lose it to a ganker/griefer. Which made the game even more frustrating because what's the point of having cool stuff if you can never use it. I almost quit the game because of it, but they added a PvP flag so one could opt out.
If open-world PvP were added to this game I would probably leave, even if there were an opt-out flag.
