Dr. Aeon's Dev Choice Suggestion Thread

Hey everyone,

I wanted to reboot our previous Dev Choice proposal threads with this new, improved, and shinier thread. However I want to make it clear that I have also looked at all of the arcs that were posted on that thread and that were marked as final.

Let's lay down some rules first on how this thread goes.

1) You can't submit your own arc.
2) The arc listed must be flagged as FINAL. If it's not flagged as final then I can't consider it eligible for consideration as a Dev Choice.
3) This thread is going to be for suggestion only, so please keep it to that. No debating over whether an arc should or shouldn’t be suggested.

Those are the three golden rules! Just to clarify to those concerned, this thread is not going to be the only place I use to find Dev Choices, just one of them. So if your arc isn't posted here, it doesn't mean that I'll never see it.

I'm going to go ahead and suggest Arc 375932: "Between Love and Loyalty" by @Cybernetic Hobo.

It's a great lower level redside arc with an unexpected twist near the end leading into a dangerous choice, and is just all around fun and well written. Had a lot of fun with this one.

The Soul Katra:
The Soul Katra has the power of the Past. The deep wisdom and discipline that holds the world together for all time. Those of the Soul Katra are selfless, strong willed, and in tune with nature. They give their strength freely, offering friendship and support to those who have none.

I suggest Cadaver Crackdown (ArcID: 367963).

Commander Shepard approved. Hopefully you do too.

Several of the arcs that stood out to me have already been made Dev's Choice. I am sure some others will come to mind later, but for now I would like to suggest.

MacGuffin Delivery Service (1567) by @Lazurus

@Gypsy Rose

In Pursuit of Liberty - 344916

Thank you for reminding me of those two. I'd like to second the recommendations.

I highly recommend Signal:Noise by @The Cheshire Cat. I am home alone now in the dark, and I still can't get the terrifying image of the impossibly tall man out of my mind. Thus I challenge you, Dr. Thaddeus Aeon, to turn of all the lights and play this game when you're home alone. Then, when you're done, just go for a walk around the house. Doesn't sound hard does it? So you go and do that, and then give Mr. Cat his well-deserved Dev's Choice.

Bad Voodoo by @Beyond Reach. Arc ID #373659. Level 20-24. Mr. Bocor has fallen victim to a group of hooded vigilantes who have been plaguing Port Oakes, interfering with illegal operations and pacifying villain's powers. He demands that revenge is taken on these miscreants and his powers are returned! You look like just the villain for the job. Challenging.

Cheshire Cat has already gotten a DC from Doc Aeon, so another one is not likely to happen anytime soon.

I don't remember any earlier threads. Apologies if I'm nominating arcs that were already considered, then. Also, I didn't see anything about a limit, so I've thrown in anything I gave a five-star review that's still in the system and set to final.

"Small Fears", #12285; "Karmic Exchange", #47550; "All in the Family", #128109; "Teen Phalanx Forever!", #67335; "Mercytown"; "Aeon's Nemesis", #161865; Arc #338380, "Talos Vice"

Worthy arcs not set to final: "The Horrible Mr. Caractacus", #10721; "The Fan Club", #5898; "A Day in the Life of...Dr. Aeon" (#1296); Arc #55715, "Freaks and Geeks"; Arc #6017.

Ridiculous Surely if you happen to be so good your merit in making arcs deserve more than one you should not be punished for it? *sigh* I just played his third Astoria arc as well, again, brilliant, but I suppose I should not put it forward.

Then we get right back to that flamewar in issue 14 beta when a dev gave someone 7 DCs in less than 2 months. At the slow rate that DCs come out now it's better to give other authors a chance first.

This thread isn't supposed to be for discussion of nominations, so I'll kill it right here by pointing out that "Signal:Noise" is ineligible because it's not marked as final (And I'm not going to change it yet because it's not "done" by my standards).

To stay on topic, I recommend "One Million Eyes" (71933) by @Minimalist. I believe it won a player's choice award ages ago but is still un-DC'd, and it's the last arc I played that really blew me away with its overall story and presentation. He's already received a DC for another arc (The winner of the first Aeon MA contest), but personally, I think this arc is actually better than the one that got the DC.

Astoria in D Minor, a horror arc. Arc ID: 41565 - The Beating Heart of Astoria: A Play in Five Acts. Arc ID: 170547 - Ignition of the Machine, a story with robots. Arc ID: 318983
Captain Skylark Shadowfancy and the Tomorrownauts of Today. Arc ID: 337333 - Signal:Noise, where is everybody? Arc ID: 341194
@The Cheshire Cat - Isn't it enough to know I ruined a pony making a gift for you?

12 second horror stories - a writing experiment.

Since most of the ones I was going to suggest are here, a perusal of my votes yields:

The Extadine Lab: 2595
Nuclear in 90: The Fusionette Task Force: 58363

I'll also second the One Million Eyes arc, it's really good

Players' Choice Awards: Best Dual-Origin Level Range Arc!

It's a new era, the era of the Mission Architect. Can you save the Universe from...

The Invasion of the Bikini-clad Samurai Vampiresses from Outer Space? - Arc ID 61013

I'll second this one, though it should have been a Hall of Famer IMO.

I'd like to suggest The Echo, arc ID 1688 by @ MrCaptainMan

@FredrikSvanberg

"Fear and Loathing on Striga" - Arc ID 350522

Why? Because it's freakin' awesome, that's why! I'm so sorry to the author for not spotting this and nominating him in the Player's Choice awards for January. The missions flow well, characterisation is brilliant, objectives and maps are used professionally.

A dark arc with a darker choice that wonderfully slides into CoV Nerva.
I second this strongly. A highly underappreciated arc that I think stands as one of the best villainous arcs out there. Although, I would say that a few slight changes need to be made before it is considered for Dev's Choice. For example making that choice a little obvious and a little more possible considering an individual's patience.

Mercytown is one of the best arcs out there that isn't Dev's Choice. To be honest, I really want to play The Marconeville Horror to see what makes it better than Mercytown, because I have no idea how it beat it in the Player's Choice awards.
