This - not a shadow to be seen = not UM.

Try turning on some antialiasing and anisotropic filtering. Those steps in Ouro are painful.

Mark my words: No good ever comes from letting our Ambients occluse with each other.

Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.

One does not necessitate the other.
As others have pointed out, high end ATI cards can do water effects like that, but the screenshots are missing all the other chiaroscuro effects that were shown in the Ultra Mode demo at Hero Con.
So, pretty, but not as pretty as Ultra Mode, not by far.

Dr. Todt's theme.
i make stuff...

Water doesn't reflect in CoH no matter how good your card. It's not programmed to do it.
It can "refract" but that's something else entirely.

I'm gonna say "shooped".

That's simply not true.

Those pictures aren't doctored.

You can get mirrored effects on ATI cards at high FX settings, but the mirroring only looks right from one angle. If you move the camera around, you get really bad offset FX. Look at the first picture above and see that Pilgrim has a distortion FX behind him when he shouldn't. That's typical of ATI cards at a high setting.

Let me repeat for the whole thread:

That photos are real. I get the same FX on my computer.

Zombie, it was a valiant effort, but sometimes your encyclical missiles of logic just aren't powerful enough to penetrate a "good" conspiracy theory.

I'm sure the original poster would love to turn on AA, but with ATI cards that can be difficult to do. I still haven't figured out how to get AA to turn on with mine, despite any advice I've found on the forums.

Luckily, it seems the real Ultra Mode may fix that.

And yes, those shots are real and not doctored. I have some nice shots of Croatoa taken from the shoreline of the lake... Any higher than that and the reflections become wonky.

I have a very good graphics card and haven't noticed anything of the sort.

Shoop.

If you guys get these on your computers, lets see 'em.

Seriously, I'm interested.

What's very good?

very good could be subjective as some people here say their card is "very good" and its a 7600GT...

I find the graphics card in my Commodore 64 is really good. Just look at War Witch, that's the sexiest white dot I've ever seen.

Woo woo!

I'm not even sure that would fit in my case.

Posi said just to get minimum settings you would need a 9800.

I think it happened on mine when I forced high AA in the Catalyst settings and then turned water effects on high.

Here's someone else with the same issue but didn't angle the camera for the precise mirror reflection, but instead got a weird offset reflection:

http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showp...42&postcount=7

The thing is that it's not worth it to replicate. It only provides an acceptable mirrored reflection from one angle and looks horrible from every other angle. And it's buggy that it comes and goes.

And 8 Gigs of RAM and an AMD Phenom X4 9750 processor count for nothing? This computer was designed specifically for high end gaming. Don't count everything out yet. We have yet to really test out Ultra Mode as it is. Lag is unheard of on my system.

Why would you get such a low end gfx card with the rest of that system?
Btw I think you mean 8 Gigs of RAM...

I dont think it works the way you think it does.
We will see when it is time to test everything, but its still only 2.4 Ghz

Right now I have a i5 and it runs normally at 2.8 Ghz...

Just curious but what year was your gaming computer created?

Example: Can you play Crysis on High Settings on your current gaming rig?
(not saying you would want to, but could you?)
