Going Rogue release date announced!
You're late.

I'm still a little confused over the editions. It sounds like you will be able to pre-order Going Rogue in March and/or April and get powersets unlocked at that time. However, it says, "You will also be able to get your hands on an exclusive item pack if you get the City of Heroes Going Rogue: Complete Collection (MSRP $39.99 USD), that will be available when Going Rogue releases in July!" I don't know if that means that the Complete Collection edition will be available in July, or if you can pre-order it instead of the normal Going Rogue edition in March and April, but the exclusive items will only be available in July.
Surely they don't mean that you can pre-order Going Rogue early for $29.99 and get bonuses, and then order the "Complete Collection" later for $39.99 to get the extra perks. If I had to guess, I'd think that you can pre-order Going Rogue ($29.99) or Going Rogue: Complete Collection ($39.99) in March/April, you'll get access to dual pistols and demon summoning early and access to Praetoria in July, and if you pre-ordered Complete Collection, you'll get the other loot in July. |
Collectors: Much the same as CoH and CoV Collecters had unique items. Plus powerset testing.
The powersets, in other words, arent going to hit live until GR releases. In July.
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

If recent releases are any indicator - I think they'll offer a pre-order on the deluxe edition as well.
I wonder if the extra lewt will be available as a separate download, like the Mac Edition items?

I don't intend to be in a position to find out.
I'm sorry, did you think my intention was to post a "frst post!" message? I'm not "late," I took some time to actually write up some summary information, format the message to my liking, and even add a few sentences of commentary. I posted it exactly when I wanted to.

Curious to know, is UM going to include missions or just outside.

If I had to guess, I'd say probably so, but probably not up front. I'd guess a few months in, you'll be able to get some kind of booster pack that includes all of the extra stuff for $9.99, but that's pure speculation.

This isn't a pack, to begin with - the Mac edition was, really, just a "Hey, we have something that'll run on Mac" with the release of goodies. GR is going to require you to purchase the full thing for you to enter the zones and whatnot - and why wouldn't they say "And you can upgrade your purchase now!" right away?

Are we sure the epic AT part isn't that they will be able to start at lvl 20?
Considering the new Praetoria lvl 1-20 content, it could make sense.

"Epic archetypes available at level 20 instead of 50."
Which sounds like it's just changing the unlock level, not the way you level them.

Ahh, I missed the unlock part.
Edit - hmm - followed the link and this is what it says
"Epic Archetypes now available at level 20"
No unlock reference. No reference to lvl 50.
However, I suspect the rest of you are still correct.
The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.
I'd be surprised if that were the case.

- Going Rogue ($29.99)
- Some as-yet unnamed add-on pack that includes the Alpha- and Omega-themed auras and costume sets, Shadowy Presence, and extra emotes ($9.99)
- Going Rogue: Complete Collection ($39.99), which includes both of the above.
The second item is speculation on my part, but it would be like how people who bought the Architect Edition got to add on one of the booster packs. Or a better analogy might be the "Hero Gear" kit that they released so that people wouldn't have to buy the CoH Collector's Edition DVD after they had already bought the original game.
If they don't do that, then the question that I'd have is that if someone spends $30 and then changes their mind and decides that they want the goodies in the Complete Collection edition, do they really have to go shell out $40 more for it also, or can the just buy something for around $10 (the second item above) that will effectively give them the same thing?

Some features will be available early (March and April) for pre-ordering, including dual-pistols and demon summoning powersets. |
In case you haven't read it yet (it's only around five minutes old), there is a new news post on the front page with LOTS more details about Going Rogue and Issue 17: Dark Mirror.
The tl;dr version:
