Kinda like godzilla style. He was endangered, was endangering others, and therefore was attacked by what was considered the "good" guys. Either way, I approve of this becuase therefore it would be easier to get the sally badge for geas

I read canon I just don't approve of the approach. That should be a stop Red caps from harming Sally Mission.
Not a random event to harm the VICTIM of an evil plot! Oh the red caps been manipulating sally now she has to be put down... 
Before Sally went live there was a desire to change this to "Save Sally" and now we got those new Devs and programmers I say they can do something about it!
Maybe have it when you get to close she argos and goes underwater. This will keep it a challenge and rare.
Just think of it this way. She's not being "put down" (killed), she's being pushed back into the deeps. After all, to get the badge, you have to do it TWICE, so you're not killing her. And so do all your friends and the random strangers around. So she isn't being killed 29834721 times a day.

I've always suggested the introduction of an NPC on the shore of Lake Salamanca (or in a boat in the lake) who hands out a Camera temporary power.
Mechanically, the camera would instagib Sally, and Sally would be immune to any other form of damage.
In context, you'd be taking snapshots of the Lake Salamanca Monster to prove her existence, making you a "Believer".
- We know critters can be immune to all damage (100% resistance to all)
- We know powers can instagib a target (Snake-B-Gone temporary power)
- We have a camera emote already
Her death animation already has her diving back under the water. All that's really needed is the Camera temporary power and an NPC to give it to us, and buff Sally's resistance.

The only change Sally needs is when you slap her, she slaps you back. Old School style, complete with algae. Should leave you disoriented for 30 secs.

Either that, or make her a clicky.
But yeah, I've never approved of hitting the poor thing. She's kinda cute, in a giant sea serpent kinda way. I think its the big eyes.

Hm... I never really felt that we were really doing any harm to Sally with our attacks. There are never any Orange numbers above her so we aren't doing any damage what so ever from the games standpoint. I always felt it was like doing a light tap on a dog's nose when they're being bad and her, Sally's, response was to hide. Be that as it may, the camera idea would be an amusing change.
Throwing darts at the board to see if something sticks.....

I must be a jerk, because I got a serious kick out of using TP Foe on her and dropping her on top of trees, then watching her wriggle her way back to the lake. She's the Lieutenant Dan of sea monsters ("She ain't got no legs!"). 
Of course, I then /petitioned it, and then never touched the poor girl again.

And in regards to Sally, I make a point of using the most overkill power I have on hand if I happen to tab-target her while in Croatoa. I don't care if it destroys my endurance, I am using Nova, etc. I'm fairly confident she's the key to getting that elusive 1 experience to level 51.
