January Player Choice Awards: The New Year - Voting

Voting is up sooner than I thought it would be, there were few enough nominees spread across the two categories that I just moved authors nominated in the new arc category that also qualified for the unknown author category to the smaller category, dropped Fred's second arc nomination (sorry PW), and was left with only 6 arcs in the new arc category. I would feel bad to have to pick one to eliminate, so I left them all in. I think I'm going to skip February to hopefully let the heart grow fonder, and be back with another two categories in March (feel free to suggest some new categories).

Best New Arc

  • Voting is open until February 15th at 11:59pm EST.
  • Please vote for two arcs, a first choice and a second choice. A first choice which will get 2 points, and a second choice which will get 1 point. Please be clear which arc is your first and which is your second.
  • Authors nominated in a category may still vote in the same category, but may only choose one arc other than their own which will get 1 point. (This approximates every author voting for themselves as a first place vote)
  • The winner will be the arc with the most points. In the case of a tie, the winner will be decided by the most first choice votes. Full ties will share the prize of 25 million inf transferred to the character of their choice.

he disqualified himself when he counted his second account, so ArrowRose nominated his arc by itself instead to avoid any confusion.

... actually, I might not skip February after all, short month = short arcs. 1 and 2 mission arcs... but I think I'll wait and see how popular the votes are this month to decide for sure. (p.s. Tangler, I extended the voting one week after you posted, I was thinking it was a longer window than it actually was)

I just noticed that my name was on this thread. I want to apologize for the state that Time for Reflection is currently in. It is a good story idea that has been sadly neglected by its author, namely me.

I have begun to work on the story again. Need to work out the mechanics of what I am trying to do with it but hopefully I should have a better story soon.

I haven't played enough of the other arcs to vote in the other categories.

2nd: @FredrikSvanberg Fear And Loathing On Striga #350522

Very very very tough choice here. I really enjoyed all the arcs in this category. They're all very well done, well written, and well played. Good luck to all!

You know, I kind of wish I would have tracked how many plays the unknown authors had at the start, so I could track how much publicity this contest actually gave them.

If only I could vote twice. Really rough time choosing between my top two.

2nd: Fear and Loathing on Striga #350552

The little details pushed this one over the edge. I'll admit that I'm a sucker for "Wow" factor, and the Council allies that had roar dialogue as they died and turned into war wolves that were still allied was something that I had never seen or even thought about doing. It's also very solidly written.

I really should mention Breaking the Barrier (and Putting it Back Together Again) #347029, though. Great arc if you like arcs that are challenging and involve general craziness.

I've been away from the game for a bit; it was a bit of a shocker [in a good sense] to see my name here when I returned. I feel honored, I love you all. Srsly. <3 I'll do my best to get through these arcs by the deadline and vote!

Bubbawheat -- my arc had 40 plays when I left.. it's at 43 or so now. I'm not sure if using that number is realllly accurate though, since people can opt to play through arcs and leave them unrated; I also got at least two new feedback messages which is much more important (to me, anyway). It'd be nice to have a "# of unique accounts who accepted the first mission" counter on all arcs, but I think that's a MA feature request for another day.

Edit: Final tally at the end of the voting window is 42 plays; both of the new plays also gave me feedback, which was much appreciated!
