Someone has cornered the Stabilized mutant genome market blueside. sell them while they are hot
If i find the time to login i´ll drop everything i have for 1 inf on the market.
Yesterday almost ALL the mid tech salvage was going for an arm and a leg redside. Starting with circuit boards, which were down to 2 at one point. I cashed in a lot of tickets and did things like put Iron up for 101 thousand and get 2.5 million for five.

Redside someone has been playing this game for about a month now fairly consistently. I assume they are making good profit off buy it nao'ers like me. Demonic blood samples were the first that I noticed (let's just say it made getting field crafter a bit more expensive). Lately I haven't seen it as much but I've settled more deeply into my comfortable niches so I might be missing where they are moving.

I noticed this several times over the past few days. I haven't paid substantially more than I typically do for salvage, though, because I just overnight (more often wait-a-week) bid and get it later for what I wanted.
But all you ebil marketeering bastiches know to do that already.

The economy is not broken. The players are
This thing that has really bothered me about this lately, is that I've been playing mostly on one character, and get to the point of having full recipe inventory with one common salvage missing for each. So I either have to delete/vender them or stop playing.
These 'gold farmers' aren't just flipping crap for money, they are negatively impacting the playability of the game.
In fact this is the exact reason I'm not playing right now.
More things that can't happen but do. At least nobody is trotting out the equilibrium price brickbat this time around
And today there were all of 4 Scientific Theories for sale blueside. The non-Tier 3 common market has been pretty whack recently.

This is why I try to keep a few thousand AE tickets on each character which has more playtime than others, so I can random roll or directly buy salvage I need if it's going for ridiculous prices.
My general rule of thumb is:
Common salvage - generally pay between 100-500, don't pay more than 1,000 for it
Uncommon salvage - generally pay between 500-1,000, don't pay more than 5,000 for it
Rare salvage - generally pay between 1,000-10,000, don't pay more than 500,000 for it
This is only for me, I know how some people are made out of influence/infamy, so their payment figures are probably 100X bigger. :3

Especially common salvage.
8 tickets for a random roll. Look up the level you want on the Wiki, roll until you get what you want. Enjoy your inf. for selling the others on the market. Easy to do.
Edit - I've been bothered by the cries of "gold farmer" and I just checked on something.
Fir Bolg, Winter Horde and Redcaps only drop Arcane salvage. Of course there is a shortage of Tech salvage. Make some cash!

My rule is don't pay less than 5908 for anything, to save time.
I'm probably made of influence AND infamy, though.

My rule of thumb is, if I want it now, I want it NAO. But within a certain amount of reason. ^_^ I'll bid fairly high for salvage to build an IO that I want to slot immediately. I won't bid very high for salvage needed to craft stuff to sell, I can be patient with that.

All those times I paid 100K for something, crafted it and came back to see two sales for 5K in the time it took me to get to the university and back... annoying EVERY time.

Bromley, I'm trying really hard not to unload the dumptruck of sarcasm here.
It doesn't really matter that "Someone" is not a goldfarmer. (proof is tedious and mathematical, but available if required. Let's just say there's no money in it.)
It doesn't even matter that dozens or hundreds of people are manipulating dozens or hundreds of things at all times in this market.
The real point I would like to make is that I don't care and neither should you. I don't care because I can defeat this cunning manipulation within ten minutes, one of two ways.
First: I put up a bid for "the exact price" the flipper is using, plus one inf. I do something else for up to ten minutes. Check my badges, craft my other IO's, run a radio mission, go AFK and take out the garbage. Start a fight on the forums. Whatever. When I come back, I have the item. Usually it takes me less than two minutes to defeat the flipper. Sometimes it's less time than it takes me to place the rest of my bids.
Second: If I wanted to get the item RIGHT NOW (6 AM on villainside or something), I would go to the AE building and do something fast. When I had about 80 tickets, I'd go upstairs and roll ten of the general class I wanted- if the magic item was Stabilized Mutant Genomes, I'd roll midlevel tech salvage. Chances are I'd have TWO of it.
So I don't have to pay the Buy It Nao prices. You don't have to pay the Buy It Nao prices. NOBODY has to pay those prices.
... so that's why I don't care. Why is it that you do?

I'm venting on the internet. about a computer game. So please, call me out, big man.

It's hard to tell whether to shoot for the low, middle, or high range of the salvage class you want -- for example, are circuit boards low or middle? But just type the name of the salvage into the wiki's search window and it will say "this salvage is for 26-40" or whichever, which clues you in. Now you are looking at a small range of possible drops and gambles cost 8 tickets each (about what an even-level LT will drop.)
It may take a few rolls but so what? using 8-40 tickets to get an item that's selling for 100,000-250,000 is amazingly cheap.
