Lets face it folks, if someone has been gone for 4 years, they are not coming back. Purge all of their names.
Do I have trouble getting names? No. I have most of the ones I wanted and have for years. How great is it for a new player to pick up the game log in and not be able to get anywhere close to the name they had envisioned for their toon? Lets face it, some people just arent that imaginitive, and there is nothing wrong with that. Do we not want new people to play this great game and keep it going strong?

Ignoring the bickering, I've never quite understood why people are so staunchly opposed to spaced out names. When done well, they look good -
"H E R O" or something of the sort. Usually it has to be one word, and rather short, obviously. And it's easy to make a bad name that way...but it's not like it's not already easy to make a bad name the "normal" way...

When I was in 6th grade, I made comics with character named Nightblade. I wanted a character with powers after that, so Darkstar was created shortly after.
2006, I try to create the two only to find the names are already in use, probably by someone who is not even playing the game anymore.
I guess I will try the color idea. It works, but it just isn't the same.....

I like short names. Elfis, Yay, Max, Coot, Sprite, etc. They're all long gone now; good thing I reserved a ton.
The very fact that long names with multiple words are allowed goes a long long way to alleviating the name crunch though.

They can purge all they want under a certain level to no avail. I would bet that most of the names people are clamoring for are taken by former players that took the names at launch played for a bit and canceled never to return.
