Why is this game so amazing?!

So, I went on a little hiatus from CoH- left the account running, just didn't really play. I came back today. Playing this game gives me that wellspring of glee in my chest, ohmygod it is fun! I love everyone! Best thing ever!

The littlest things, even, they make me so happy. The ridiculous "fweeeeeeeh" sound that the confetti-spewing presents make- SO HAPPY!

Everyone I meet is happy and energetic and just having a great time! It makes so much of a difference in how awesome everything is!

What little bitty things in CoH make you super-spastically-happy?

EDIT: AND KNOCKBACK! *giggles madly*

Eh, too many things to count. The genre, the world, the characters, the customization, the speed, the visceralness, etc.

KB is a good case in point (since you brought it up). There is a strong amount of "Boom de yada!" to our attacks that just make a lot of the game fun to play. Good storylines to a lot of the arcs and TFs, too.

Guide: Tanking, Wall of Fire Style (Updated for I19!), and the Four Rules of Tanking
Story Arc:
Belated Justice, #88003
Synopsis: Explore the fine line between justice and vengeance as you help a hero of Talos Island bring his friend's murderer to justice.
Grey Pilgrim: Fire/Fire Tanker (50), Victory

I wish I knew. I buy other games, tear through them... and then log back into CHV.

I'd like to think it's nothing but addiction, but I know addiction. I'm a smoker. It isn't that.

It's a fun game. It's fun to start new characters. It's fun to realize the potential of powerset combos I've overlooked. It's fun to go into scrapperlock for hours on end.

Be well, people of CoH.

I think "Boom de yada!" could just about sum it up for me.

I like making something powerful, knowing that it's brutal because of me.

GF says it's an addiction, I say it's shut the hell up. rofl

It's the people.

The friends you can make in game.

The people you can team with.

That I can PM Castle and say, "Hey, what about...?"

Or request a costume piece from Jay.

Everyone on the forums.

It's the people.

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

I think the variety in the source material (by which I mean the comic-book genre) is a big contributing factor.

On any given night, I can log on as an ancient mythological Minotaur or as a WWII fighter test pilot or as a social worker whose nightmares come to life or as a professor who crafts inertialess arrows to save his students taken hostage or as a stone spirit from Easter Island or as a fierce Ice queen bent on revenge or as a super-cool 70s blaxploitation homage in go-go boots.

Around me, the world teems with anime schoolgirls, movie villains, mad scientists, Irish heroes, knife fighters, deranged telekinetic housewives, and the occasional sentient kitchen appliance.

It's not all a bunch of knights with swords or soldiers in the same uniform. There's an inherent randomness that constantly appeals to my sense of wonder, or my sense of the absurd.

1. I play this game
2. I am amazing
3. Therefore this game is amazing by association

Ok I lie, it's actually the easy travel and fast paced and largish scale combat that make the game amazing for me. The problem I had with other MMOs I tried was that the amount of time required to kill one or two enemies was similar to the time required to kill an entire group here.

Also there's the teaming. Most MMOs tend to set things up so that for most content you're either discouraged from teaming or required to team with no middle ground. Here teaming is almost entirely optional and if you do want to team it's ludicrously easy to do so, none of that "LF Healer" stuff just grab seven other people and start punching.

I think the wearing-spandex-and-a-cape-and-flying-while-face-punching-aliens-and spider-obsessed-supervillains-and-time-traveling-Nazis bit also helps.

Its pretty easy...

This has lots of WEEEEEEeeeeEEeeeEEEEEEEEE!!! factor...

You can find games where you fly. You can find games where you run. You can find games where you jump... But here you do it with style... and it makes you feel alive...

In the others all is slow... Here Everything is so fast...

(LOL JK JK)

Awesome thread! I'm hoping we get some cool high-level stuff with Going Rogue, but yes, this game has me spoiled. I have a hard time finding anything else to entertain me as long as it does.

Thanks to you, this is now my friends ringtone.

It's your fault cause that guy made a video to Avenue Q's "Leave your appartment".

As it has been from the beginning:

You can make your own original Superhero. No other video game before allowed for this. You'd play Superman, Spiderman, Hulk, or (God forbid) Aquaman.

CO is the closest you can get to an Aquaman game.
