This server is dead!

Actually, Darkfriar and I talked with a Dev that wishes to remain un-named, but they told us that "they are aware of server populations, and are considering some various options"

When we asked if server merges were going to take place, the response was. "its being considered."

And just f.y.i...

Champion has actually been the 3-4th most active server recently.

.Let me re-phrase.

It's not that lively outside of social groups. Seriously, I only got onto BMT recently. For those without BMT who do not enter the forums, where is the action? Many of those in the long-established social circles can become comfortable with those folks, form teams with ease. Because they have those connections.

But odd as it seams, the best way to build a server community is look outside the established community, pick up the odd stranger with the 'lft!' flag. Spare slot? Search the team finder window before BMT. -And talk with them, to them, not just your buds. I know it's a bit 'riskier,' as this goes into the PuG territory, but it does help those joining up or starting up to find company and start to get a feel of who plays around here...and you wouldn't believe how far a little civility and kindness from a stranger go to making a player's time more fun, and keeping them involved in a server.

I don't know about you guys/gals but Seldom has got a point.

Look, I have been here for +63 months. And, for most of that time the BMT or any global channel wasn't needed to form a team.
It seems it's need today.

The Social group aspect is a problem.... at least from my side of the hill.
I think I can count on two hands where I have teamed or been in contact with forumn notables.

Dia.... said hi to you in BB.... total dis. Never tried again.

XxBudweiser8xX I know you from way back.... whatever the Champ forumn thinks, I think he is a pretty good guy.

Blue, teamed with you once..... then ya bailed after the first mission.

Another Notable.... who shall remain nameless, I teamed with was the unkillable regen(back when regen was all that)( note... he was much respected on the forumns back then) got on a team I was on..... and died and died.... and died.... all the will telling us he was unkillable. But the forumn liked him and aparently.... his SG needed him.

AOTN.... I have great respec for this group..... but as other SG's have noticed.... not many playing anymore. And thanks for not kicking my tank for lack of playtime.

Ace, other than TT's.... would never have teamed with you.

STF's.... Look... I got lvl 50's that need, and I want, the badge for them
but since they are scraps.... they get the cold shoulder. Now.... let me log
in my Troller.... instaVite! (Social group aspect is a problem) If I was in the "group".... I would of been on the team.

Even teamed with the dreaded Stryker.... I think 3 times.... but as per fromun norms.... he was less than an Ideal teammate.

Look.... ya all got your little Social groups, and ya don't stray far from them. If ya wanna make Champ seem more.... inhabited.... make yourself
visable. Being on hide only reinforces the point that no one is playing.

I just had a thought..... this whole thing reminds me of High School..... those in with the in crowd... and those on the outside.

Flame away!

If this was directed at me, you would be incorrect. You, myself, Winendine, Cosmic Cowboy, Libertey Belle, and Alannon would team quite consistently issues and issues ago.

As for the server bein' dead, it's seen better days, but I mostly see stuff in BMT.

/e sarcasmOFF, you can be my friend. Of course you'd have to play PST, but I'm happy to team with anybody. And I'm a fabulous player. Just ask me. (Except when I'm not, but I have a short-term memory problems so ...)
But really, I'll team anytime I'm on, with you or anyone else, unless I'm already on a team, then ... well, anyway ...

This server is so dead that last night all I did was:

Unlock Midnighters for a bunch of people
Then run a Speedy MoITF (34 mins)
Then do the Hami Raid (much fun)
Then Renault SF (we so need a [Stick] temp power for the giant eye)
Then 2 more hero side TFs (because i could).
And there was an LGTF forming when I finally went to bed

Somewhere in there I did a bunch of crafting and socialized as well.

So dead... like a graveyard.

I think the general point is, the server seems more dead to the average player who exists outside the cool kids clubs and in-game "famous" presonalities. It is kind of funny to hear "join BMT for a team" meanwhile some of the ops at BMT feel the need to kick members based on their sg memberships, or lack of cool-kid status. There is a certain "us-and-them" attitude, where famous personalities are cool enough to get away whith anything on the forums and in game, while outsiders get trolled until they are intimidated into submission.

The server is not as community oriented as it used to be...of course, I am only a 51 month veteran, so what do I know about it ? I dont think Champion is the community server, I would say it is more the Drama Server. but this is my own opinion on the matter, others are welcome to agree, or disagree as they see fit.

Hate to break it to ya, but we were all outsiders at one point. At some point along the way you can choose to be included or excluded. It can be a bit intimidating, but it doesn't take much to lead up a TF or 2. SGs are glorified personal storage bins right now, so focus on getting invites to channels instead as they are great ways to network.

And dont go jumpin' on Cobalt and BMTs rules. I have my own issues with how the channel is run, but the fact is its a hell of a lot more useful with the current rules than it was as a free reign channel.

So PoN isn't a cool kids club either? LOL...whatever.

People in BMT get kicked when they deserve it, not because of who they are or what group they belong to. The ones that make it a point to act like a dill hole get booted faster than the others, but when you're not there to do anything but cause problems, that's what you deserve.

Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.

Agreed. Great post, Net.

Personally, I've never really been all that concerned with what social circles my friends are in, so long as when we all get together, we have a good time. That's the bottom line for me.

Regarding BMT rules, I know people have had their issues, mostly revolving around the restriction of certain conversation topics. I see the rules that are in place as ones that promote the overall functionality of the channel, so that people can form TFs without being drowned out by other chatter. I see nothing wrong with having a channel focused towards a certain goal for this reason. And sure, I like to joke around with my friends as much as the next person, which is why I have a channel for that as well.

It's difficult to keep people involved and active in a channel if they feel they are not being heard when they are trying to accomplish something, like forming a team or TF. This leads to people tuning the channel out, which hurts it far more IMO than having structure and rules.

My thanks to Cobalt and the other BMT OPs for assuming the responsibility that comes with moderating the channel. It can't be an easy job for the most part, but the overall effect has been positive.

Wait.
When did I become one of the cool kids?
<.< >.> O.o ??

As for Cobalt kicking anyone who sneezes wrong,
I don't see it.
Sure, I've only been around BMT for a month or two,
But when I first got my invite, I jumped in the channel and talked casually.
Including a few impolite-for-public-conversation words.
Cobalt PMed me telling me to watch my mouth, and I have since.

I didn't know any better.

When people get out of line, he politely reminds them to stay pg-13, and kicks them if-and-only-if they get out of line.

I saw him kick someone once who was openly badmouthing other community members, and ya know what, that's ok with me.
If he has chosen to be a moderator who keeps needless childish drama out of a channel made for (among other things) finding team members to help gain badges, defeat giant monsters, and run task forces (Unless, of course, I misunderstand the abbreviation), then he has my applause.
MMOs often degrade into childish namecalling and bickering, which are stricktly un-fun.
The *FEW* people I have seen kicked from BMT were kicked to maintain community integrity and that sense of 'fun'.

Sorry this turned into a TL;DR rant... it wasn't my intention.

I just feel that the comments about "cool kids", "In crowds", and "pointless social kicking" are completely out of line with the experiences that I have had.

I joind COH in July 08 and didnt hear about BMT until april 09 (when I met Amy.. omg i <3 her).. During the 9 months not on BMT i only teamed with the few "real life" friends in my sg.. we all joined the game at the same time... we didnt learn much just did the missions and kept to ourselves.. the game got boring super fast..

Since I've been on BMT ive met some super great mentors who have been willing and patient to help/teach me things about the game and theyve also supported all the events Ive planned...

My game experience has improved 10fold because of BMT and the members in it.

I would have missed 75% of this game had it not been for BMT and the CHampion community.

The only drama thats here comes from people that just simply cant seem to play by the very few rules that are there.

Now if they would only teach me how to set up my chat tabs so i stop all the mt's...

/bind L beginchat /send "BMT of Champion" [$name, lvl $lvl, (your AT)]
Don't forget to add a space at the end.

Someone can come back and correct the bind as I think I left something out. (Notes are at home on this.)

This way you just hit your bind key and start talking. Much faster than having to switch tabs.

Dying? No way.

Most of the time when I get on (evenings, EST), TFs usually get filled within minutes of being broadcast. Sometimes while I'm still thinking about joining one, BMT broadcasts "TF full! Thanks!" :-\

I've gotten in on one Hamidon raid but the past two filled up about 30 minutes before game time.

Yep. Whenever people run their mouth in BMT, Cobalt gives them (myself included, doh) a warning. When they don't shut up, they get kicked. I'm all for welcoming new blood in, but if people can't follow simple directions, do we really want them cluttering up the place?

Prestige mills. Can't help you on Virtue blue side but can on red if you need. And can help you with an SG on Champion blue side if you need.

(I took care of the quick mission and then joined in). If I wasnt on a TF I think I would have tryed to get them into bmt.

It's not as though the server is dead as your resources. I am constantly having to juggle the ppl on the server in my globals, so it can't be D.O.A. I LOVE this server and the ppl on it.. it's truly more of a community than a busier server and I'd never wanna see a merger (thank jump roping Jesus that won't ever happen).

You just need to learn to network better and put yourself out there.. most discount PUG's, but this is where I've not only met new ppl to team with, but new members to our SG!! You just gotta put yourself out there sometimes when it's all said and done. Thx Championites for all you've done and all you do, you give me a home to keep coming to.
