This server is dead!
Giving up on Champion so easily? Whatever happened to beer-chivalry?
For serious though, while server mergers might make things more lively there are all kinds of logistical issues (like names) that would need to be resolved. The huge amount of work needed to do it and the fact that its not really that needed mean its unlikely to happen anytime soon.
Also the laughable but unshakeable belief many people have that people are somehow fundamentally different and therefore incompatible since they play on a different server.
The Melee Teaming Guide for Melee Mans
Odd, I came to Champion not long ago and am still getting used to all the people here. It's kinda weird to see broadcast chatter in Talos, let alone actually seeing other heroes flying or hopping around.
Mind you, I have branched out from my home server (Pinnacle) NOT because the population is anemic (I actually prefer lower pop servers), but simply because I've ran out of slots and I won't delete any alts and can't afford to buy any new slots ATM. If I could, I'd stay on Pinn, even with it's low population. Needless to say, Champion has a rather large community, at least in my eyes.
Of course, I've spread out to every server except Freedumb, so while I do have 4 alts currently on Champion, I may not be playing there all that often as I tend to jump around to different alts, depending on my state of mind at the time.
Don't worry, Champion is not dying. There are a couple others in much worse shape than Champ. Trust me.
Losing faith in humanity, one person at a time.
This has been brought up a few times already, Beerknight. Do a search and you'll see the reasons why it was stomped into the ground.
But a server merge?!
I shudder at the thought.
Imagine merging with Freedumb...
I think I'd slit my wrists.
Also the laughable but unshakeable belief many people have that people are somehow fundamentally different and therefore incompatible since they play on a different server.

I dun wanna seem racist but Germans inhabit this big blue thing called Earth and they're nothing like Canadians or a Frenchie.
An extreme but relevant comparison, I believe.
I have not noticed this at all myself, here is a list of things I did on Chmapion today.
Ran 8 man Candycane team half Hammers/Vet Players for approx 1:30hrs.
Ran a 8 man Hammer Winterlord team, two runs.
Had a 7-8 man RV PvP team for approx 1:30hrs.
Ran 3 Arena Kickball matches of mostly Hammers for approx 2:30hrs- 6vs6, 8vs8, 4vs4.
Ran a few AE missions with Hammers and friends for two hours.
So I have not noticed from my perspective. If you have problems finding players/teams please feel free to contact me while I am on. I will do whatever I can to help you find a team and players.
Good luck friend!
French people are like dirp dee dirp, German people are like derp derp derrr.
No but seriously Bud, have you been to France or Germany? The more countries I've lived in and cultures I've experienced the more I've found people are pretty much the same, only differences being little stuff.
That said, on topic: Champion people are like derp dee derp derrr, Triumph people are like durp durp durr and man, don't even get me started on those dudes on Virtue.

The once great champion server i feel is diminishing fast... There isnt enough players on this server . . .

But I think that is incorrect.
- I agree with Cyborg. I see no teaming problems.
- Even if you were right, We are still in the time of year that people have other things to do, or the economy has hurt their gaming time or money.
- Even if you were right, your suggestion of server merges actually tend to do the opposite of what you want. People see merges, and think it is the sign of the apocolypse for that game, and so even more people quit and the problem actually gets worse.
- Some people prefer lower pop servers, some don't... If you are not on a server that matches your preferences, the problem is yours. You need to become active on a server that IS at the level you like. (Don't say "But I LIKE this server and people!" . . . YOU just made a suggestion that would destroy your server.)
- What you may be seeing could be the result of SSK. . . . SSK makes it SO much easier to team.... People team up, disappear into their missions, . . . and it SEEMS less populated, because there are less people just standing around outside chatting and bored, and yelling LfT ! .
.
I think that the server is a little lower. but not to the point that it is dead. as long as players really work on keeping the chatter up and the faces smiling, we'll be peachy!

With only five hours into a day, you've managed to accomplish eight hours of work.
"I do it better than anybody you've ever seen do it.
The screams from the haters, it's got a nice ring to it.
I guess every super hero needs his theme music .."
Honestly, the Champion population is down a bit. I played red side on Champion exclusively for over a year, and soloed about 90% of the time because Champion's red side population is anemic at best. I eventually tired of that and switched to blue side last May, and had a much easier time finding teams. However, I've noticed over the past couple of months that even finding teams blue side is becoming a chore on the weekends. I still don't have much difficulty finding a team blue side Mondays through Thursdays. On Saturdays and Sundays though? Forget about it. I think I saw a tumble weed go by in Founders' Falls last Saturday.
It will only get worse due to the holidays and the upcoming release of Star Trek Online, but I hope that it will improve once Going Rogue releases around May. In the meantime, I've recently started up a toon on Justice to play on the weekends.

Plus, there is nothing wrong with soloing. Some people prefer it really. I certainly do. If I am in the middle of a mission and remember that I forgot to grab my CrimPro book, I can go afk and run across campus. If I decide that I'm starved and need a snack I can take five min. and go next door and get one. If I'm not feeling well, but have nothing better to do than play, I can go slow or take frequent breaks to lay down. If I get a phone call, a knock at my door, or need to brb-bio, I don't have to explain my absence to anyone and then can pick up exactly where I left off. I can play for a half-four and do whatever I want, or play for four hours + in a row and at my own pace.
Granted, sometimes I like being on a team, but things like waiting on a wall for thirty minutes and still not getting one usually remind me why teaming can suck. Or, anyone else ever get invited to do a tf and then have the star handed to you with instructions to find more people? *quit team*
But stever and others are right: there are some people taking a break because they can't afford the game right now, others don't have the time because work is more demanding, some of us are getting into finals time at school, for others this is the holiday season and there are a lot of things to do for family and friends, and many other reasons for not being around as much or at all I'm sure.
Server population down /= dying server.
There are still lots of regular weekly events being run, there are still tons of TFs being organized on the fly each day.
There's a million reasons why some folks aren't around as much, and most of them aren't worthy of crying DOOOM about. Get on some global chat channels and you'll see enough people to do whatever you want.
Champion is not the only server that is seeing lower numbers. It's just a fact of the life of a game. People come and go. Long-time vets take breaks to wait for new content. Stuff happens.
Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.
Champions server population is definitely decreasing, there's no denying that, but I don't think it's at the point where a server merge is needed.

CANADIANS! AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! Run for you lives.
*after several minutes of panic*
OP. You're kidding with this post, right? Although we haven't had a "server is dead = doom" thread for a while, it is laughable and I wouldn't have posted except for Bud mentioning Canadians. (And don't get me started on the French.)
And server consolidation ... a total non-topic. The game will shutter its doors before that happens, which won't happen for some time according to the numbers posted in the summer. (There was a post here which I can't searchfu right now.)
Current favs: Champ: Frau Schmeterling-22 MM 50s: NOTW-Blaster, Cat-Girl Commando-corr, Queen of the Dawn-PB, NOTW-Def, Peterbilt-Brute, IcedTNA-Tank, Archilies-scrap, Mann Eater-stalk, Redemptive Soul-toller, Mt Fuji of A-Team-Tank, Hot Stuff Vale-Dom

Valid points. But I still think the pop is low and getting lower, guess just ignoring this problem works, but i dunno not much anyone can do about it even if u do acknowledge the facts.
I think the point most people are trying to make is that the lower population is a not-problem. I can find teams within five or ten minutes of logging in, especially on the weekends. Try joining BMT of Champion, or a good SG, and your ability to find someone to chatter with or to find a team will skyrocket.

@Celestial Lord and @Celestial Lord Too
I love Champs, have alot of great ppl to talk to and team with there. Plus everyone seems to be great on helping eachother out. Although I guess I'm not truly a noobie anymore I still seem to need plenty of pointers.
I hooked another friend to playing and my lil man and I have to say all the teams we have been on are very good about him being new and good at explaining what's going on (cause I suck at that).
Yes there are times I can't find any teams but that usualy donesn't last too long. So thank you all for making it a fun game for me and so many others I know.
Well, I team with the same 6-10 people on a weekly basis. and have maybe another 25-30 different people that will group on regular occasions. throw in a few pugs here and there and yeah... the server doesn't feel to empty to me. I'll agree Traffic on the server is definitely down from what it was even a year ago, but not dead... Look at BMT every now and then and you can find people starting TFs or whatever at least every few hours. if not every 10 mins...
When people keep getting on looking to do the same content every night (ie certain TFs) and they don't get bites, that doesn't mean no one wants to team with you. That means they don't want to do the same damn TF for the hundredth time in a row. Be more flexible in what you're willing to do. It might also mean that there were just two or three groups of folks that set up other TFs or the same TF you were wanting to do and you just missed them before they started. It happens.
Loose --> not tight.

I agree that population is definitly going down.
I mean if i want yes i can form PuG TF's with /search and join BMT TF's, but pvp is dying so i made a new toon on freedom. I mean honestly all the good pvp'rs left switched at least one toon to freedom, most free time is spend there anyways. zones are empty except the occasional newbie, some weekends may have some decent action, but not like it used to be.
i guess its a bit of the old addage... you get out what you put it.
I have no problems finding teams, TFs, SFs, Mo*Fs, badging teams.....
But then again Im active on both sides, helping with red side hami raids, Tanker Tuesday, Task Force Tuesday, etc.. None of it requires a huge time investment, just a couple of hours here and there, but word gets out and if I need a helping hand, people are there for me.
Im not saying you need to organize events, but participating in channels, showing up for events, etc.. shows that you are part of the community and the community is always happy to welcome new people into the mix.
Yes you can play this game solo, but its alot more fun with a team.

"I am not sure if my portrayal of being insane is accurate, but damn its fun all the same."
The once great champion server i feel is diminishing fast... There isnt enough players on this server and due to that the remaining players are leaving and going else where. The only active place i find is the forums lol, sad really. Well I hope they start thinking about combining some of these low player servers up. More players=more fun. Your thoughts please.
