I know, ******' scary, right?

Buuut...I think there should be mini-games. I see so many basketball courts, but no basketball. Also, we've got casinos and pool tables and stuff like that. Wouldn't it be kinda nice if these were actually functional? A little black-jack? Perhaps some roulette?

Just more little stuff to do, ya know?

Then folks would ask "what's the reward?" because folks are greedy. Might incorporate a point system for badges? Maybe some very very small influence/infamy prizes?

I dunno. Just a thought. We run around, we beat the hell out of people, and sometimes each other and that's about it. Longbow Chaser racing? What kind of mini game would YOU like?

Some of these could be done by the players, Black Jack, Poker anything involving Dice or Cards can be done in RP.

But yeah, It would be wonderful if there were mini games, working pool tables and basket ball hoops etc would be very neat. I am in support of anything that adds to the game and expands it in a way beyond the leveling tread mill.

doesnt sound like a bad idea...closest thing to a minigame that i remember is the ski race in the winter events...that was fun

I back this call for mini-games. Recently I posted about how I had all this influence but not enough variety of things to spend it on. Adding things like this with small influence fees to play would certainly add to the game in my opinon.

This would e cool as a base item too. Like if you wanted to play cards you set a card table in your base and people can click on it to join the game and such. It would be an amazing game addition.

SO would NPCs for your base, but I'm not complaining.

I would like to use the shooting ranges as a mini game

We had a blast running a casino night in the Monkey Club one night. Folks dressed up like Vegas bunnies and mafia cardsharks to run the tables. They stood inside the velvet ropes playing various games with emotes.

As far as having games within the game.. that one would not need a troupe of roleplayers for.. I'd love:

- working pooltables

- chase scenes in Skyway

- rentable boats in every zone surrounded by water. Imagine a group of speedboats at every dock or shore which you could pay influence/infamy to use. It does have practical applications. For example, when people die fighting Lusca, if no one on your team has recall/summon. Even with travel powers, it can take a while to get back. IP is a long zone.

- slot machines for exchanging undesirable loot. I pick up recipes that will get sold to the stores and QM's because I know they won't sell for **** at auction. Imagine taking the chance to exchange three for a random. Something silly to do.

That would be awesome. If the shooting range inside RWZ's Vanguard base worked where the profile target sheets visibly took damage and spat back stats.

Pew pew pew!

Any chance of a 'Hazard' room? Which is nothing at all like a 'Danger' room. Nope nope nope.

Something in the D or to add to a base where a team can enter and be assaulted with wave upon wave of baddies, as well as machine guns and cannons and such? Waves get progressively harder and harder and come faster and faster. By the end, waves will be almost spawning on top of each other.

No inf rewards for bad guys except at wave completion perhaps. 10 waves get a badge, 25 waves gets a badge, 50, 75, 100 should be nigh impossible. Could have options like allowing rezzes or not allowing them as an even more hardcore mode.

Spartan has a very good idea.

You pay to play. Having fun is ok. Kill Skuls or kill Crey. Hunt at night or in the day. Black or white or shades of grey. Play it your way. We have no say.

Hey, who let Spartan have an idea? I thought that there were laws against that kind of dangerous stuff...

EMBRACE IT, SUCKA!

For some reason, it came to me when I had a sudden urge to play Mario Kart. I was thinkin' "Ya know...it would kick *** if you could race all your CoH buddies in places like Skyway City..."

And Monsoon Mike said "The Shadow Shard could totally be our rainbow road..."

But yeah, mini games would give this game a whole new lease on life I think. Instead of it being just an MMO beat em up, it could actually turn into a living, breathing social environment.

Besides...I know I'm not the only one who wants to be in one of those Bond style card-table scenes...WITH ACTUAL STAKES! C'mon devs, mini games. It can't be THAT hard.

I'd be all for mini-games. Always wondered why St. Martial has a giant casino that does nothing but house some contacts and a couple arena terminals.

I LIKE Spartan's ideas.

These would be kickin'.

I have nothing bad to say about this idea , I think it would add alot

Longbow chaser racing would be awesome! Im all for this. It wouldnt even be hard to impliment really. the models already exist for it and it would be so much fun.

Mini games would be great, and they have been done in other MMOs so it can't be that difficult.

I would love to be able to sit down at a table and play some cards or heck, even use one of the pinball machines.

I guess the argument against mini-games is that it takes developer time to do what players can do themselves. They may not be difficult to do, but they take time and money that could go elsewhere.

If you want to have a regular poker night in the D, you can use an online poker game that already exists, especially if you have a second monitor or PC.
If you want a Danger Room, use mission architect.
Sure, its less seamless, but its doable.

This leaves the devs to use their finite time to do things that only they can do, like new powersets, alternate walk animations, new mission content, new costume pieces, vehicle travel powers etc etc.

A couple of years ago, I'd have said no to mini-games on these grounds. These days though, the game's in such a mature state with all the other stuff that minigames seem quite attractive. I'm still coming across new content and powersets after four years, and many of the oft requested features like Power Customisation have come to pass.

So yeah, I reckon a few minigames wouldnt hurt at all now. Slot machines that cost infamy/influence and occasionally dispense Architect ticket prizes? Thats a simple start.

Every time I go past a "Super Lanes" bowling alley, I think to myself that a bowling minigame would be amusing.

Also the idea of go-karting with friends and/or signature NPCs amuses me. I would totally throw a red shell up Ghost Widow's tailpipe.

I have an ice tank who would love to have you as a sugar-daddy. Or an ice/dark defender who you could set up in her own apartment and lavish her with cash and jewelry.

Does Ms. Monsoon know about this "red shell" fantasy of yours? 0_o

Is that what the kids call it these days...

Prioritizing! Yes, minigames would take up precious dev-time. But if vehicle travel powers were implemented, races would not be far behind.
